Long-term response to avelumab and management of oligoprogression in Merkel cell carcinoma:A case report

BACKGRoUND Merkel cell carcinoma(MCC)is a rare and aggressive cutaneous neuroendocrine neoplasia,with high risk of recurrence and metastasis and poor *** checkpoint inhibitors,like the anti-programmed death-ligand 1 agent avelumab,were recently approved for the treatment of advanced ***,herein,report the first case of advanced MCC with oligoprogression managed with avelumab and local radical *** SUMMARY A 61-year-old man was presented to the hospital with sporadic fever and an exudative malodorous mass(10 cm of diameter),located on the right gluteal *** final diagnosis was MCC,cT4N3M1c(AJCC,TNM staging 8th edition,2017),with invasion of adjacent muscle,in-transit metastasis,and bone *** started chemotherapy(cisplatin and etoposide),and after six cycles,the main tumor increased,evidencing disease *** months later,the patient started second line treatment with avelumab(under an early access program).After two cycles of treatment,the lesion started to decrease,achieving a major *** progression was documented after 16 ***,as the tumor became resectable,salvage surgery was performed,while keeping the systemic treatment with *** the patient developed bilateral pneumonia,immunotherapy was *** than 2.5 years after surgery(last 19 mo without systemic therapy),the patient maintains complete local response and stable bone *** This report highlights the efficacy and long-term response of avelumab on the management of a chemotherapy resistant advanced MCC,with evidence of oligoprogression,in combination with local radical treatment.

The continuous excavation of burrows by fiddler crabs generates bioturbation in the sediment,which can be estimated from burrow *** aim of the present study was to describe the burrow morphology of Uca uruguayensis and *** and its relationship with demography of resident individuals and to estimate the level of bioturbation in the sediment generated by each *** all individuals from each of the 2 species,sex was determined and the carapace width(CW;mm)*** were characterized according to burrow diameter(BD;mm),maximum burrow depth(MBD;mm)and burrow volume(BV;cm^(3)).The density of each species in the study area was also *** both species,the males were larger and occupied burrows with higher BV compared to *** between sexes in relation to the burrow characteristics might reflect sexual dimorphism within the group and are probably related to the fact that males use the burrows for *** and BV showed significant positive relationships with the size of resident *** amount of sediment removed per burrow was estimated from mean BV:10.78 cm^(3)of sediment/burrow for *** and 12.38 cm^(3)of sediment/burrow for *** the density and depth differences between the 2 species,the similarity in burrow volume suggests that *** and *** present the same importance in terms of the bioturbation *** morphology is highly associated with characteristics of the occupant,although extrinsic factors should also be considered,and its description can provide estimates on the bioturbation generated by Uca species in mangrove forests.

This work investigates the effect of cerium substation into strontium cobalt perovskites(CeSrCoo)for the oxidative degradation of orangeⅡ(oII)in dark ambient conditions without the aid of any external stimulants such as light,heating or chemical *** oII degradation rate by CeSrCoo reached 65%in the first hour,whilst for the blank sample without cerium(SrCoo)took over 2 hr to reach the same level of oII ***,the cerium substitution improved the catalytic activity of the perovskite material,mainly associated with the Ce0.1Sr0.9Coo3 perovskite *** contacting CeSrCoo,the-N=Nazo bonds of the oII molecules broke down resulting in electron donation and the formation of *** electrons are injected into the CeSrCoo and resulted in a redox pair of Co3+/Co2+,establishing a bridge for the electron transfer between oII and the ***,the electrons also formed reactive species(·oH)responsible for oII degradation as evidenced by radical trapping *** species were formed via the reaction between 02 and donated electrons from oII with the aid of cobalt redox *** the prepared materials dispensed with the need for light irradiation and additional oxidants,it opens a window of environmental applications for treating contaminated wastewaters.

Proteins containing an Rho GTPase-activating protein （RhoGAP） domain work as molecular switches involved in the regulation of diverse cellular functions. The ability of these GTPases to regulate a wide number of cellular processes comes from their interactions with multiple effectors and inhibitors, including the RhoGAP family, which stimulates their intrinsic GTPase activity. Here, a phylogenetic approach was applied to study the evolutionary relationship among 59 RhoGAP domain-containing proteins. The sequences were aligned by their RhoGAP domains and the phylogenetic hypotheses were generated using Maximum Parsimony and Bayesian analyses. The character tracing of two traits, GTPase activity and presence of other domains, indicated a significant phylogenetic signal for both of them.

The purpose of this paper is to classify wines from 4 different countries in South *** class of wines is formed by samples considered by experts as representatives of the following commercial categories:“Argentinean Malbec(AM)”,“Brazilian Merlot(BM)”,“Uruguayan Tannat(UT)”and“Chilean Carménère(CC)”.The 83 samples collected were analyzed according to their composition of volatiles,semi-volatiles and phenolic *** built a decision system for classification based on support vector machines(SVM),along with Correlation-based Feature selection(CFS),and RandomForest Importance(RFI),whichmeasures the relative importance of the input ***,we use CFS to select a subset of variables among 190 chemical *** chemicals were selected as correlated to the category and uncorrelated with each ***,these chemical compounds were organized according to the importance ranking given by the RFI and classified with *** study clearly indicated that SVMin combination with feature selection methodswas able to identify the most important chemicals to classify the wine *** the compounds identified in the wine samples,the variable subset defined by the feature selection methods,which were catechin,gallic,octanoic acid,myricetin,caffeic,isobutanol,resveratrol,kaempferol,and oRAC,were able to achieve an accuracy of 93.97%in classifying the commercial categories.

Sorption has been proposed as a promising approach towards a sustainable water decontamination and recently to the recycling of rare earth elements(REE).Although living seaweed have been shown to be capable of removing REE from contaminated solutions,no studies have yet compared the effects of REE competition on sorption onto different groups of *** effects were analysed in the present study by exposing six living seaweeds(Ulva lactuca,Ulva intestinalis,Fucus spiralis,Fucus vesiculosus,Gracilaria *** osmundea pinnatifida)(3 g/L,fresh weight) to mono-element and multi-element solutions of Y,La,Ce,Pr,Nd,Eu,Gd,Tb and Dy(1 μmol/L).Results show a preference towards light REE in mono-element solutions,which is reduced when in competition with other *** competitive effect is less pronounced in heavy REE indicating that these are still able to bind to the macroalgae despite the presence of competing *** to water content(%),seaweed specific surface area(cm^(2)/g) shows to be an important factor in the sorption of REE,since larger surface area is associated with higher removal and larger competitive effect.

This paper applies the concepts and methods of complex networks to the development of models and simulations of master-slave distributed real-time systems by introducing an upper bound in the allowable delivery time of the packets with computation results. Two representative intercom nection models are taken into account： Uniformly random and scale free （Barabasi-Albert）, including the presence of background traffic of packets. The obtained results include the identification of the uniformly random interconnectivity scheme as being largely more efficient than the scale-free counterpart. Also, increased latency tolerance of the application provides no help under congestion.
