This research paper presented the potential of corchuros olitorius *** a natural coagulant in the removal of turbidity,total suspended solids,and biochemical oxygen demand from the domestic wastewater of the University of Science and Technology of Southern *** of the natural coagulant and synthetic coagulant was employed prior to the treatment *** jar test method was used in the optimization and lab analysis including the gravimetric method,dilution technique,and digital *** optimization results of corchuros olitorius *** the jar test method revealed better removal at a lower dosage of 50 mg/L and a higher settling time of 90 *** characterization using FTIR analysis also suggests a functional group that influences coagulation *** the optimum dose and optimum settling time,results with the different treatment designs showed the highest removal at pH 7 showed%BOD removal of 89.78%(A75c25);85.98%(A25c75);88.76%(A50c50).TSS removal measured values of 88.50%(A75c25),85.56%(A25c75),and 87.16%(A50c50),while turbidity removal of 83.47%(A75c25),80.27%(A25c75),and 80.27%(A50c50).Statistically,measured values differ between treatment *** is suggested to investigate removal efficiency in more varied pH conditions,different settling times,stirring speed,and other variables for future studies.

This study proposes a hypodermic needle(HN)as a sorbent holder and an electrospray(ESI)emitter,thus combining extraction and analysis in a single device.A novel nylon 6-cellulose(N6-cel)composite sorbent is proposed to extract methadone from oral fluid *** cellulosic substrate provides the composite with high porosity,permitting the flow-through of the sample,while the polyamide contributes to the extraction of the *** low price of the devices(considering the holder and the sorbent)contributes to the affordability of the method,and their small size allows easy transportation,opening the door to on-site *** the optimum conditions,the analyte can be determined by high-resolution ambient ionization mass spectrometry at a limit of detection(LOD)as low as 0.3 mg/L and precision(expressed as relative standard deviation,RSD)better than 9.3%.The trueness,expressed as relative recovery(RR),ranged from 90%to 109%.As high-resolution mass spectrometers are not available in many laboratories,the method was also adapted to low-resolution *** this sense,the direct infusion of the eluates in a triple quadrupole-mass spectrometry provided an LOD of 2.2 mg/*** RSD was better than 5.3%,and the RR ranged from 96%to 121%.

The nZEB objectives have raised the standard of building performance and changed the way in which buildings are designed and *** energy dynamic simulation tools are potentially the most suitable way for accurately evaluating and forecasting the thermal performance,they need several data inputs and user’s knowledge that can affect the reliability of the *** is precisely these two aspects that proved to be particularly critical,since the reliability of the IcT calculation tools has been widely proven in recent ***,in order to foster credibility in sustainable architecture,bridging the gap between predicted and measured performance is pivotal to boost the building market towards energy efficiency and provide reliable data to inhabitant,investors and policy *** present research aims to identify and quantify the main factors that affect the energy performance gap through a detailed energy analysis carried out on a case study,which can be considered one of the first nearly zero energy residential complex built in *** on the analysis,the study identifies the main causes of the deviation between the calculated and measured data and demonstrates how it is possible to achieve very reliable models and,therefore,real *** the procedure traces a classic model calibration scheme,actually it consists of a verification of possible downstream errors mainly due to human factors,such as the provision of incorrect technical data or inappropriate *** observations on the technical,management and regulatory gaps that may generate these errors are reported at the end of the study,together with practical suggestions that can provide effective solutions.

Study of the impact of the compaction and curing temperature on the behavior of cold bituminous recycled materials

In most countries, there is a low temperature limit to lay down hot asphalt mixes because if it is too cold, it becomes impossible to get proper compaction. For cold recycled bituminous mixture(cRM), there is little information on the effect of the low temperature on their behavior. The goal of this study is to evaluate, in laboratory, the impact of the compaction and curing temperature on the behavior of cRM. To do so, cRM containing 50%reclaimed asphalt pavement(RAP) and 50% natural aggregates treated with foamed asphalt or bituminous emulsion were mixed and cured at different temperature between 0 and23℃ for up to 10 days before being tested in indirect tension. The results show that for all mixes, a cure at lower temperature means lower tensile strength, but the decrease is more noticeable for emulsion treated materials than for foamed treated mixes. The trend is not as obvious for Marshall stability results. A second cure at ambient temperature was also done, and the analysis of the results showed that the decrease in mechanical performance remains important even after a second cure at higher temperature for all mixes treated with bituminous emulsion, but there is some mechanical gain for mixes treated with foamed asphalt.

In this work, electrochemical plating treatments were applied to ASTM A36 steel specimens to study the efficiency and limitations of this method for arresting fatigue crack propagation. Electroplated iron was deposited onto the crack surfaces using a circuit in which Swedish Iron served as the anode in a solution of Ammonium Iron(II) Sulfate Hexahydrate. The iron ions were driven into fatigue cracks that were formed within ASTM E399 compact tension specimens. This work showed that an iron-plating treatment operated at 20°c can arrest fatigue crack propagation for a significant period of cycles. The propagation re-initiation lives that resulted ranged from 11,000 to 230,000 cycles. As observed in prior work, the propagation re-initiation life correlated strongly to the magnitude of the stress intensity factor range that was applied during cycling. As this stress intensity increased, the propagation re-initiation life decreased. Repeated treatments on the same crack provided extended service lives by as much as 370,000 cycles or 60% of the entire fatigue life of the component. Future work may show that re-application of the treatment, when conducted prior to crack re-initiation, could further extend the service life indefinitely. The correia crack closure model was modified to provide an empirical expression for predicting the crack re-initiation life of the treated component. Interestingly, highly effective arrest behavior was still observed for cracks that were loaded to stress intensity factors of only 3 - 6 c="Edit_***" alt="" />during the treatment but then subjected to 20 c="Edit_***" alt="" /> during cyclic loading. Galvanic corrosion of the plated material exposed to simulated seawater was estimated to be 3 mpy. Future work will examine the use of less active plating alloys and the possibility of applying effective treatments into cracks that are in an unloaded state.

Targets have been developed to measure supersonic radiation transport in aerogel foams using absorption *** target consists of an aerogel foam uniformly doped with either titanium or scandium inserted into an undoped aerogel foam package. This creates a localized doped foam region to provide spatial resolution for the *** and characterization of the foams is a key challenge in addition to machining and assembling the two foams so they mate without gaps. The foam package is inserted into a beryllium sleeve and mounted on a gold *** target is mounted to a holder created using additive manufacturing and mounted on a stalk. The manufacturing of the components, along with assembly and metrology of the target are described here.
