Over the last sixty years advances have been made in the control of schistosomiasis in *** are,however,difficult challenges still to be *** paper looks at the extent to which the health system offers a positive environment for the control of the *** starts by tracing three phases in schistosomiasis control:disease elimination strategy through snail control(1950s-early 1980s);morbidity control strategy based on chemotherapy(mid 1980s to 2003);integrated control strategy(2004+).Each one of these phases took place in distinct policy-making *** paper partly draws on these phases to set out five issues of disease control and discusses them in the context of the health system and its recent *** cover the policy-making process,intersectoral action for health,equity and access to health services,funding for public goods and externalities,and strengthening resource management and *** issues form the basis of an agenda for integrating research and capacity strengthening in the Chinese health system with a view to creating a more positive enabling environment for schistosomiasis *** so doing it is important to emphasize the role and integrity of the public sector against its commercialization,the underlying value of equity,a systems wide perspective,and the role of advocacy.

Agriculture needs to produce more food to feed the growing population in the 21st *** makes the reference crop water requirement(WREQ)a major challenge especially in regions with limited water and high water ***,with large climatic variability,is experiencing a serious water crisis due to limited water resources and inefficient *** order to overcome the issue of uneven distribution of weather stations,gridded Climatic Research Unit(CRU)data was applied to analyze the changes in potential evapotranspiration(PET),effective precipitation(EFFPRE)and *** of data using in situ observation showed an acceptable performance of CRU in *** in PET,EFFPRE and WREQ were analyzed in two 30-a periods 1957-1986 and *** two periods showed an increase in PET and WREQ in regions extended from the southwest to northeast and a decrease in the southeast,more significant in summer and ***,EFFPRE decreased in the southeast,northeast,and northwest,especially in winter and *** of annual trends revealed an upward trend in PET(14.32 mm/decade)and WREQ(25.50 mm/decade),but a downward trend in EFFPRE(-11.8 mm/decade)over the second *** in PET,EFFPRE and WREQ in winter have the impact on the annual *** climate variables,WREQ showed a significant correlation(r=0.59)with minimum *** increase in WREQ and decrease in EFFPRE would exacerbate the agricultural water crisis in *** all changes in PET and WREQ,immediate actions are needed to address the challenges in agriculture and adapt to the changing climate.

The resonant frequency of metamaterials structured with split ring resonator(SRR) meta-atoms is determined primarily through the capacitance and inductance of the individual meta-atoms. Two designs that vary inductance incrementally were modeled, simulated, fabricated, and tested to investigate the role inductance plays in metamaterial designs. The designs consisted of strategically adding sections to the SRR to increase the inductance, but in a manner that minimized capacitance variations. Each design showed a shift in resonant frequency that was proportional to the length of the added section. As the length of each section was increased, the resonant frequency shifted from 2.78 GHz to 2.18 GHz.

Fatigue cracks that develop in civil infrastructure such as steel bridges due to repetitive loads pose a major threat to structural *** being the most common practice for fatigue crack detection,human visual inspection is known to be labor intensive,time-consuming,and prone to *** this study,a computer vision-based fatigue crack detection approach using a short video recorded under live loads by a moving consumer-grade camera is *** method detects fatigue crack by tracking surface motion and identifies the differential motion pattern caused by opening and closing of the fatigue ***,the global motion introduced by a moving camera in the recorded video is typically far greater than the actual motion associated with fatigue crack opening/closing,leading to false detection *** overcome the challenge,global motion compensation(GMC)techniques are introduced to compensate for camera-induced *** particular,hierarchical model-based motion estimation is adopted for 2D videos with simple geometry and a new method is developed by extending the bundled camera paths approach for 3D videos with complex *** proposed methodology is validated using two laboratory test setups for both in-plane and out-of-plane fatigue *** results confirm the importance of motion compensation for both 2D and 3D videos and demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed GMC methods as well as the subsequent crack detection algorithm.

We propose a novel stochastic modeling framework for coal production and logistics using option pricing *** problem of valuing the inherent real optionality a coal producer has when mining and processing thermal coal is modelled as pricing spread options of three assets under the stochastic volatility *** derive a three-dimensional Fast Fourier Transform(“FFT”)lower bound approximation to value the inherent real optionality and for robustness check,we compare the semi-analytical pricing accuracy with the Monte Carlo *** parameters are estimated from the historical monthly data,and stochastic volatility parameters are obtained by matching the Kurtosis of the low-ash diff data to the Kurtosis of the stochastic volatility process which is assumed to follow Cox–Ingersoll–Ross(“CIR”)model.

We present an unconditionally energy stable and uniquely solvable finite difference scheme for the Cahn-Hilliard-Brinkman(CHB)system,which is comprised of a Cahn-Hilliard-type diffusion equation and a generalized Brinkman equation modeling fluid *** CHB system is a generalization of the Cahn-Hilliard-Stokes model and describes two phase very viscous flows in porous *** scheme is based on a convex splitting of the discrete CH energy and is *** equations at the implicit time level are nonlinear,but we prove that they represent the gradient of a strictly convex functional and are therefore uniquely solvable,regardless of time step *** to energy stability,we show that the scheme is stable in the time and space discrete ℓ^(∞)(0,T;H_(h)^(1))and ℓ^(2)(0,T;H_(h)^(2))*** also present an efficient,practical nonlinear multigrid method–comprised of a standard FAS method for the Cahn-Hilliard part,and a method based on the Vanka smoothing strategy for the Brinkman part-for solving these *** particular,we provide evidence that the solver has nearly optimal complexity in typical *** solver is applied to simulate spinodal decomposition of a viscous fluid in a porous medium,as well as to the more general problems of buoyancy-and boundary-driven flows.

Early massively-parallel sequencing stu-dies have revealed the mutational land-scape of protein-coding genes in prostate cancer. However, most of these studies have not explored the extensive influence of geno- mic rearrangement in prostate cancer. In a recent Cell article, Baca and colleagues used whole-genome sequencing to tackle this issue, comprehensively surveying the abun-dance of genomic rearrangements present in a large cohort of 57 prostate cancers. They characterized a wide-spread phenomenon termed ＇chromoplexy＇, which may drive can-cer evolution through the phenomena of punctuated equilibrium by concurrently dys-regulating numerous cancer genes across multiple chromosomes. While the causes of this event still require elucidation, this defin-ing discovery undoubtedly offers an impor- tant glimpse into the evolutionary process of prostate cancer.
