In the past two decades,many statistical depth functions seemed as powerful exploratoryand inferential tools for multivariate data analysis have been *** this paper,a new depthfunction family that meets four properties mentioned in Zuo and Serfling(2000)is *** aclassification rule based on the depth function family is *** classification parameter b couldbe modified according to the type-Ⅰ error α,and the estimator of b has the consistency and achievesthe convergence rate n^(-1/2).With the help of the proper selection for depth family parameter c,theapproach for discriminant analysis could minimize the type-Ⅱ error β.A simulation study and a realdata example compare the performance of the different discriminant methods.

The production of superheavy nuclei with Z=108-116 via hot fusion reactions of the neutron-rich projectiles with 238U target is systematically *** results show that the production cross sections of superheavy nuclei do not decrease monotonously as the atomic number Z *** cross sections of the superheavy nuclei at Z = 112 and 115 are enhanced as compared with the whole Z-trend in synthesis of the superheavy nuclei,which clearly illustrates that the reactions with large negative Q-value and shell correction are more favorable to synthesize superheavy nuclei.

The focus of this paper is to present the first threshold signature scheme based on biometric identity, which is acquired from a recently proposed fuzzy identities-based encryption scheme. An important feature of this scheme, which is different from other previous ID-based threshold signature schemes, is that it can be applied to situations using not only average personal attributes in social contact but also people’s noisy biometric inputs as identities. The security of our scheme in the selective-ID model reduces the limit in the hardness of the Decisional BDH Assumption.

The Morris-Lecar (ML) neuronal model with current-feedback control is considered as a typical fast-slow dynamical system to study the combined influences of the reversal potential VCa of Ca2+ and the feedback current I on the generation and transition of different bursting oscillations. Two-parameter bifurcation analysis of the fast subsystem is performed in the parameter (I, VCa)-plane at first. Three important codimension-2 bifurcation points and some codimension-1 bifurcation curves are obtained which enable one to determine the parameter regions for different types of bursting. Next, we further divide the control parameter (V0, VCa)-plane into five different bursting regions, namely, the "fold/fold" bursting region R1, the "fold/Hopf" bursting region R2, the "fold/homoclinic" bursting region R3, the "subHopf/homoclinic" bursting region R4 and the "subHopf/subHopf" bursting region R5, as well as a silence region R6. Codimension-1 and -2 bifurcations are responsible for explanation of transition mechanisms between different types of bursting. The results are instructive for further understanding the dynamical behavior and mechanisms of complex firing activities and information processing in biological nervous systems.

The villin/gelsolin/fragmin superfamily is a conserved Ca^2＋-dependent family of actin-regulating proteins that is widely present both in mammalian and non-mammalian organisms. They have traditionally been characterized by the same core of three or six tandem gelsolin subdomains. The study in vertebrates and lower eukaryotic cells has revealed that the villin/gelsolin/fragmin superfamily of proteins has versatile functions including severing, capping, nucleating or bundling actin filaments. In plants, encouraging progress has been made in this field of research in recent years. This review will summarize the identified plant homologs of villin/gelsolin/fragmin superfamily, thus providing a basis for reflection on their biochemical activities and functions in plants.

For the purpose of water resources management in the Yellow River Basin with highly spatial difference, a daily distributed hydrological model was proposed, of which the determination of spatially-distributed parameters and model inputs processing were performed by means of GIS/RS. In the model, the computation of runoff yield was based on the topography index method and flow routing was modeled by Maskingum method. The operation of the model is followed by means of “command structure” technique based upon the topography of river network. A case study using the model was conducted for the Jinghe watershed, which locates at the middle Yellow River Basin. The simulation of the hydrological processes in 1996 has shown that water quantity balance errors were less than 5% and the Nash-Sutcliffe coefficient arrived at 0.7, indicating that the model structure is justifiable, and the precision of the model can satisfy the purpose of water resources management.

Poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) composite membranes blended with nano-crystalline cellulose (NCC) for ultrafiltration were prepared by a Loeb-Sourirajan (L-S) phase inversion process. The effects of NCC concentration on the membrane performances were investigated. Surface chemical compositions, surface and cross-section morphologies, degree of crystallinity and the thermal stability of the membranes were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) respectively. The mechanical properties of the membranes were also investigated. All the experimental results indicated that the properties of the composite membranes were improved due to the addition of NCC. The pure water flux of composite membranes can reach 230.8 L/(m2 h) and increase up to 47.5% compared with pure PVDF membranes. At the same time, the rejection ratio of a bovine serum albumin solution (1 g/L) was up to 92.5%. The porosity and the mean pore size of the composite membranes were 65% and 49 nm, respectively. Due to the addition of NCC, the degree of crystallinity was increased to 52.1% resulting in the enhanced mechanical properties. A typical asymmetric structure, which was composed of sponge-like dense layer and finger-like microporous support layer, was observed in SEM images of composite membranes.
