Effect of Fly Ash on the Electrical Conductivity of Concretes

The fly ash occasionally has high content of iron oxide and carbon that are good electrical conducting components. This paper investigates the effect of the fly ash used as mineral admixtures on the electrical conductivity of concretes. The electrical properties of concretes using 3 kinds of fly ash with different iron oxide contents have been studied. Experimental results show that at the same fly ash dosage the resistivity of concrete using fly ash with high content of iron oxide is slightly lower than that with low content of iron oxide. However, the concrete resistivity after 14d increases as fly ash dosage increases regardless of iron oxide content in fly ash.

Poly (ethylene terephtalte)(PET) is one of key raw material to produce fibers. About 85% percent of PET fibers are produced by POY process. The spinning speed of POY fibers is 3000-3300m/min. When spinning speed becomes higher , the fibers will lost good afterprocessing properties. Several additives is selected to improve the spinnibitity of PET so as to break the speed barrier of PET-POY. In this paper, the variation of the rheology behavior of PET by blending with PMMA (wt%<7.5) is studied.

The flow stress at elevated temperatures for magnesium alloy AZ31 was studied using isothermal compression testing. The effect of deformation paranwters on the flow stress was studied aa well. The kinetics of elevated temperature deformation was expressed by means of some empirical rate equations. The activation parameter has been calculated. A mechanism for the dynamic softening of AZ31 alloy in a hot deformation experiment was identified to be the dynamic recrystallization.

This study was conducted to evaluate the sensitivity of compressive strength,water permeability and electrical resistance of near-surface layer concrete with different fly ash contents to curing *** is shown that the sensitivity to curing condition and fly ash content descends in the following order：difference between internal and surface resistivity （ρ） at 28 days,water permeability and compressive strength;both of longer duration of moist curing and use of fly ash in concrete enhanced the water penetration *** is indicated that the resistivity difference ρ at 28 days can reflect accurately the curing history of fly ash concrete regardless of mix proportions;and use of fly ash in concrete requires longer moist curing duration.

Two kinds of Al based functionally gradient composite tubes reinforced by in situ primary Si particles alone and primary Si/Mg2Si particles jointly were successfully prepared by centrifugal casting,and their structural and mechanical characters were *** is found,from results of the comparison of structures,that,the former,reinforced with primary Si particles,takes a characteristic of particles distribution both in the inner and outer layers,however,the later,reinforced with primary Si\Mg2Si particles jointly,takes a characteristic of particles distribution only in the inner layer and shows a sudden change of particles distribution across the section of inner and outer *** of tests of mechanical property show that hardness and wear resistance of Al-19Si-5Mg tube in the inner layer are greatly higher than that in the other layers of Al-19Si-5Mg tube and Al-19Si *** analysis reveals that existence of Mg2Si particles is the key factor to form this sudden change of gradient distribution of two kinds of *** Mg2Si particles with a smaller density have a higher centripetal moving velocity than primary Si particles,in a field of centrifugal force,they would collide with primary Si particles and then impel the later to move together forward to the inner layer of the tube.

＜正＞ By modification of natural zeolite, the modified zeolite （MZ） with higher alkaline cations exchange capacity was produced, with which the concentration of soluble alkaline in concrete was decreased considerably, and the expansion due to alkali-silica reaction （ASR） was controlled. It was seen from ASTM C441 standard that the ASR induced expansion was less than 0.1% when cement was substituted with 5% of the modified zeolite, while the percentage of fly ash and blast furnace slag with the same result was about 25% and 40% respectively. Physical properties of cement with 5% of modified zeolite were also tested, normal consistency, setting time, bending and compressive strength all met the requirement of Chinese national standard.

The properties of native silk fibroin （SF） solution in the gland of silkworms during the full fifth instar larval stage were examined in an attempt to elucidate the mechanism of natural silk spinning in the *** flow and gelation behavior,birefringence phenomenon,rheological properties,specific viscosity and conformation of SF solutions from the gland of silkworms were measured by polarized light microscope,HAKKE rheometer,Ubbelohde viscometer and Solid-state 13C NMR,*** comparing their properties with regenerated SF solutions from natural silk fibers,it is believed that there exists a progressive maturation process favorable to spin silk fibers with excellent properties from native SF solution and a weak bonded and highly oriented SF gel network with SF molecules partly extended in α-helix conformation is formed in the middle section of the gland of *** suggests that a biomimetic maturation process for making spinnable solution might be necessary for artificial silk fiber spinning in order to obtain improved fiber properties.
