The increase in the frequency and intensity of drought events exp.cted in the coming decades in Western Europ. may disturb forest biogeochemical cycles and create nutrient deficiencies in *** p.ssible origin of nutrient deficiency is the disturbance of the p.rtitioning of the green leaf p.ol during the leaf senescence p.riod between resorp.ion,foliar leaching and senesced ***,the effects of drought events on this p.rtitioning and the consequences for the maintenance of tree nutrition are p.orly *** exp.riment in a beech forest in Meuse(France)was conducted to assess the effect of drought events on nutrient canop. exchanges and on the p.rtitioning of the green leaf p.ol during the leaf senescence *** aim was to identify p.tential nutritional consequences of droughts for *** nutrient dynamics,including resorp.ion,chemistry of green and senesced leaves,foliar absorp.ion and leaching in mature beech stands from 2012 to 2019 allowed us to comp.re the nutrient exchanges for three nondry and three dry years(i.e.,with an intense drought event during the growing season).During dry years,we observed a decrease by almost a third of the p.tassium(K)p.rtitioning to resorp.ion(*** efficiency),thus reducing the K reserve in trees for the next growing *** result suggests that with the increased drought frequency and intensity exp.cted for the coming decades,there will be a risk of p.tassium deficiency in trees,as already observed in a rainfall exclusion exp.riment on the same study *** foliar leaching and higher p.rititioning to the senesced leaves for K and p.osp.orus(p.were also *** addition,a slight increase in nitrogen(n)resorp.ion efficiency occurred during dry years which is more likely to imp.ove tree *** calcium(Ca)negative resorp.ion decreased,with no ap.arent consequence in our study *** results show that nutrient exchanges in the canop. and the p.rtitioning of the green leaf

The effect of abiotic stresses on p.ant C:n:p.homeostasis and their mitigation by silicon

In crop.p.ants, various environmental stresses affect the balance of carbon, nitrogen, and p.osp.orus(C:n:p., leading to biochemical and p.ysiological alterations and reductions in yield. Silicon(Si) is a beneficial element that alleviates p.ant stress. Most studies involving silicon have focused on p.ysiological resp.nses, such as imp.ovements in p.otosynthetic p.ocesses, water use efficiency, and antioxidant defense systems. But recent research suggests that stressed p.ants facing either limited or excessive resources(water, light, nutrients, and toxic elements), strategically emp.oy Si to maintain C:n:p.homeostasis, thereby minimizing biomass losses. Understanding the role of Si in mitigating the imp.ct of abiotic stresses on p.ants by regulating C:n:p.homeostasis holds great p.tential for advancing sustainable agricultural p.actices in crop.p.oduction. This review p.esents recent advances in characterizing the influence of environmental stresses on C:n:p.homeostasis, as well as the role of Si in p.eserving C:n:p.equilibrium and attenuating biological damage associated with abiotic stress. It underscores the beneficial effects of Si in sustaining C:n:p.homeostasis and increasing yield via imp.oved nutritional efficiency and stress mitigation.

The recovery of yttrium is p.op.sed by ap.lying a solid-liquid extraction p.ocess using di-2-ethyl hexylp.osp.oric acid(D2EHp.) as extracting *** extracting agents were sup.orted on a macro p.rous p.lymeric resin XAD-7(solid p.ase).Yttrium ions extraction and discharge tests were p.rformed,firstly from a synthetic aqueous solution of 100 mg/L Y(liquid p.ase) at 25℃ with *** effects of p. of aqueous solutions bearing yttrium,volume fraction of extracting agents and the solid/liquid(S/L)ratio on the yttrium recovery were *** most favorable conditions for yttrium ions extraction are;20 vol% D_(2)EHp. functionalized resin,p.=1.5 and an S/L ratio of 10 mg/mL The discharge of yttrium ions was done under the same conditions of extraction stage,using a 2 mol/L [H_(2)SO_(4)] as strip.ing *** to 80% yttrium is extracted,while 75% yttrium is recovered in the strip.ng *** all exp.riments,the reaction equilibrium is reached after 20 min,and the kinetics for the extraction stage was determined as a second-order ***,exp.riments were carried out to discharge the yttriumloaded resins,and it has been determined that the best p. value to strip.the Y ions is *** tests of extraction and discharge for yttrium ions show that the functionalized resin can work at least five cycles without decreasing its ***,the p.op.sed p.ocess was tested in a real solution with Y ions fro m a waste fluorescent la mp.p.wder leached in H_(2)SO_(4),demonstrating the ability to effectively recover yttrium,sep.rating it from various metals from the studied residue.

The p.esent study aimed to evaluate multi-element concentrations(Al,As,Ca,Cd,Co,Cr,Cu,Fe,Mg,Mn,Mo,ni,p.,Sr)in susp.nded p.rticulate material(Sp.)collected from Ensenada de La p.z(ELp.lagoon,Baja California Sur,Mexico in two different p.riods(Sep.ember and May)to comp.ehend their origin,geochemical behavior,mass transfer and associated ecotoxicological *** 24 hr variation coefficient of volumetric Sp. levels were found to be 51.7%in Sep.ember and 40.5%in May,signifying the effects of oceanic *** calculated enrichment factor(EF)values for all the studied elements were of higher magnitude because of the high surface area and oxide nature of Sp.,and in this study,Mo had the highest EF of 46.77 p.obably due to its origin from continental *** the ecotoxicological p.rsp.ctive,the integrated toxic risk index revealed low toxic risk to the benthic ***,the mean-ERM-Quotient calculated using the p.rticulate concentrations of As,Cd,Cr,Cu,ni,p. indicated 9%p.obability of toxicity to *** comp.ehensive geochemical and ecotoxicological assessment of p.rticulate metal concentrations in the ELp.lagoon signify low to moderate contamination.

Bats are the second-most diverse group.of mammals in the world,and bat flies are their main ***,significant knowledge gap. remain regarding these antagonistic interactions,esp.cially since diverse factors such as seasonality and host sex can affect their network ***,we exp.ore the influence of such factors by comp.ring sp.cies richness and comp.sition of bat flies on host bats,as well as sp.cialization and modularity of bat–bat fly interaction networks between seasons and adult host *** cap.ured bats and collected their ectop.rasitic flies at 10 samp.ing sites in the savannahs of Amap.State,northeastern region of the Brazilian *** female bats being more p.rasitized and recording greater bat fly sp.cies richness in the wet season,neither relationship.was statistically *** p.oled network could be divided into 15 comp.rtments with 54 links,and all subnetworks comp.ised>12 *** total number of links ranged from 27 to 48(for the dry and wet seasons,resp.ctively),and female and male subnetworks had 44 and 41 links,*** values were very low for the p.oled network and for all *** results revealed higher bat fly sp.cies richness and abundance in the wet season,whereas sp.cialization and modularity were higher in the dry ***,the subnetwork for female bats disp.ayed higher sp.cialization and modularity than the male ***,both seasonality and host sex contribute in different ways to bat–bat fly network *** studies should consider these factors when evaluating bat–bat fly interaction networks.
