Background Pediatric post coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)condition(PPCC)is a heterogeneous syndrome,which can significantly affect the daily lives of *** study aimed to identify clinically meaningful phenotypes in children with PPCC,to better characterize and treat this *** Participants were children with physician-diagnosed PPCC,referred to the academic hospital Amsterdam UMC in the Netherlands between November 2021 and March *** factors and information on post-COVID symptoms,comorbidities,and impact on daily life were *** clusters were identified using an unsupervised and unbiased approach for mixed data *** Analysis of 111 patients(aged 3–18 years)revealed three distinct clusters within *** 1(n=62,median age=15 years)predominantly consisted of girls(74.2%).These patients suffered relatively more from exercise intolerance,dyspnea,and smell *** 2(n=33,median age=13 years)contained patients with an even gender distribution(51.5%girls).They suffered from relatively more sleep problems,memory loss,gastrointestinal symptoms,and *** 3(n=16,median age=11 years)had a higher proportion of boys(75.0%),suffered relatively more from fever,had significantly fewer symptoms(median of 5 symptoms compared to 8 and 10 for clusters 1 and 2 respectively),and experienced a lower impact on daily *** This study identified three distinct clinical PPCC phenotypes,with variations in sex,age,symptom patterns,and impact on daily *** findings highlight the need for further research to understand the potentially diverse underlying mechanisms contributing to post-COVID symptoms in children.

Excitons,bound electron–hole pairs,in two-dimensional hybrid organic inorganic perovskites(2D HOIPs)are capable of forming hybrid light-matter states known as exciton-polaritons(E–Ps)when the excitonic medium is confined in an optical *** the case of 2D HOIPs,they can self-hybridize into E–Ps at specific thicknesses of the HOIP crystals that form a resonant optical cavity with the ***,the fundamental properties of these self-hybridized E–Ps in 2D HOIPs,including their role in ultrafast energy and/or charge transfer at interfaces,remain ***,we demonstrate that>0.5µm thick 2D HOIP crystals on Au substrates are capable of supporting multiple-orders of self-hybridized E–P *** E–Ps have high Q factors(>100)and modulate the optical dispersion for the crystal to enhance sub-gap absorption and *** varying excitation energy and ultrafast measurements,we also confirm energy transfer from higher energy E–Ps to lower energy E–***,we also demonstrate that E–Ps are capable of charge transport and transfer at *** findings provide new insights into charge and energy transfer in E–Ps opening new opportunities towards their manipulation for polaritonic devices.

Background:Skeletal muscle energetics decline with age,and physical activity(PA)has been shown to offset these declines in older ***,many studies reporting these effects were based on self-reported PA or structured exercise ***,we examined the associations of accelerometry-measured and self-reported PA and sedentary behavior(SB)with skeletal muscle energetics and explored the extent to which PA and sedentary behavior would attenuate the associations of age with muscle ***:As part of the Study of Muscle,Mobility and Aging,enrolled older adults(n=879),810(age=76.4±5.0 years old,mean±SD;58%women)had maximal muscle oxidative capacity measured ex vivo via high-resolution re spirometry of permeabilized myofibers(maximal oxidative phosphorylation(maxOXPHOS))and in vivo by ^(31)phosphorus magnetic resonance spectroscopy(maximal adenosine triphosphate(ATP_(max))).Accelerometry-measured sedentary behavior,light activity,and moderate-to-vigorous PA(MVPA)were assessed using a wrist-worn ActiGraph GT9X over 7 ***-reported sedentary behavior,MVPA,and all PA were assessed with the Community Healthy Activities Model Program for Seniors(CHAMPS)*** regression models with progressive covariate adjustments evaluated the associations of sedentary behavior and PA with muscle energetics,as well as the attenuation of the age/muscle energetics association by MVP A and sedentary *** a sensitivity analysis,we also examined activPAL-measured daily step count and time spent in sedentary behavior and their associations with muscle ***:Every 30 min/day more of ActiGraph-measured MVPA was associated with 0.65 pmol/(s×mg)higher maxOXPHOS and 0.012 mM/s higher ATP_(max)after adjusting for age,site/technician,and sex(pr ATP_(max).Meanwhile,every 30 min/day spent in ActiGraph-measured sedentary behavior was associated with 0.39 pmol/s×mg lower maxOXPHOS and0.

Conodont evolution and stratotype sign of carboniferous Tournaisian-Visean boundary in South China

A stratotype section, boundary point and conodont sign have been recommended for GSSP of the Tournaisian-Visean boundary, based on studies of sectional sedimentology, conodont facies and phylogeneses in South China. Two areas representing margin and inner of the Yangtzi Plate and three sections of different facies were chosen, i.e. the Longdianshan sec-tion of the platform facies in Liuzhou of Guangxi, the Yudong section of the ramp facies in Shidian of Yunnan and the Pengchong section of the basin facies in Liuzhou of Guangxi. Stratigraphic frameworks of two areas were set up by systematical studies of carbonate facies and cycles. Conodont facies-distribution and paleoecologic conditions were researched on statistics of fossil variation and richness, and a kind of planktonic conodont, gnathodids that were widespread, is chosen to select the sign-fossil from it. Seven conodont pedigrees were supplemented or erected by studies of statistics and transitional forms. Conodont evolution in the Early Carboniferous could be divided into three stages, i.e. the Siphonodella stage, the Gnathodus typicus stage and the Gnathodus bilineatus stage. The transform-surface between the later two stages could be put as the Tournaisian-Visean boundary. Finally, this paper proposes that the Pengchong section can be the stratotype candidate of the Tournaisian-Visean boundary, the boundary point be put at the bottom of bed 58 and the stratotype sign of conodont be the first occurrence of Gnathodus praebilineatus of the Gnathodus semiglaber branch.

Fragmentation of fuel pellets during transport via a belt conveyor:A design of experiment study

This work investigates the proportion of generated fines in a pilot-scale experiment using a belt conveyor and commercial fuel *** this,a belt conveyor with a length of 3.1 m was used and operated at varying conditions:speeds,percentages of material loading on the belt,two combinations of the inclination angle of the belt and the falling height,and a different number of handling *** considered a design of experiments approach based on response surface methodology to investigate the effect of different conditions on the potential of fines ***,a comparison between the results of the belt conveyor and three common benchmark experimental approaches(tumbling box,rotary impact tester,and mechanical compression test)was *** show that the number of handling steps and the combined effect of drop height and inclination angle directly affected the fines ***,the tested belt speed range and the level of loading were of lower significance.A polynomial quadratic model was derived based on the regression analysis and showed a high accuracy to predict the proportion of ***,the tumbling box method showed good potential to predict the proportion of fines in a belt conveyor when transported several times.

BACKGrOUND The Ankle Spacer was developed as a joint-sparing alternative to invasive endstage ***,there are no clinical studies on the Ankle *** To describe the operative technique and the clinical efficacy of the Ankle Spacer for the treatment of multiple,cystic osteochondral lesions of the talus in patients with failed prior operative *** This is a prospective study during which patients were assessed preoperatively,at 2-and 6 wk,and at 3,6,12 and 24 mo *** with multiple,cystic or large(≥15 mm)osteochondral lesions of the talus after failed prior surgery were *** primary outcome measure was the numeric rating scale(NrS)for pain during walking at 2 years *** outcome measures included the NrS in rest and during stair climbing,the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society Hindfoot Score,the Foot and Ankle Outcome Score,the Short-Form 36 physical and mental component scale,and the range of Motion(rOM).radiographic evaluations were conducted to evaluate prosthetic loosening and *** rates and complications were also *** Two patients underwent an Ankle Spacer implantation on the *** NrS during walking improved from 6 and 7 preoperatively to 2 and 2 points postoperatively at 2 years,in patient 1 and 2,*** other patient-reported outcome measures also improved *** were no re-operations nor *** imaging showed no loosening of the implant and no change of implant *** The Ankle Spacer showed clinically relevant pain reduction during walking,improvement in clinical outcomes as assessed with PrOMs,and no complications or *** treatment option may evolve as a joint-sparing alternative to invasive end-stage surgeries.

Functional brain imaging of gastrointestinal sensation in health and disease

It has since long been known, from everyday experience as well as from animal and human studies, that psychological processes-both affective and cognitive- exert an influence on gastrointestinal sensorimotor function. More specifically, a link between psychological factors and visceral hypersensitivity has been suggested, mainly based on research in functional gastrointestinal disorder patients. However, until recently, the exact nature of this putative relationship remained unclear, mainly due to a lack of non-invasive methods to study the （neurobiological） mechanisms underlying this relationship in non-sleeping humans. As functional brain imaging, introduced in visceral sensory neuroscience some 10 years ago, does provide a method for in vivo study of brain-gut interactions, insight into the neurobiological mechanisms underlying visceral sensation in general and the influence of psychological factors more particularly, has rapidly grown. In this article, an overview of brain imaging evidence on gastrointestinal sensation will be given, with special emphasis on the brain mechanisms underlying the interaction between affective ＆ cognitive processes and visceral sensation. First, the reciprocal neural pathways between the brain and the gut （brain- gut axis） will be briefly outlined, including brain imaging evidence in healthy volunteers. Second, functional brain imaging studies assessing the influence of psychological factors on brain processing of visceral sensation in healthy humans will be discussed in more detail. Finally, brain imaging work investigating differences in brain responses to visceral distension between healthy volunteers and functional gastrointestinal disorder patients will be highlighted.

recently the cultivation of opium poppy in Afghanistan reached unprecedented *** is agreed that the complex and coupled interactions of social,economic and environmental drivers are crucial for understanding the spatial and temporal dynamics of opium poppy cultivation in *** this context,we present an integrated risk concept,which considers environmental and socio-economic drivers of opium poppy cultivation.A set of spatially explicit indicators for the environmental suitability and socio-economic vulnerability was established and populated from a variety of ***,novel methods of modelling homogeneous and spatially explicit regions of opium poppy cultivation suitability,socio-economic vulnerability and risk are developed and *** risk assessment results demonstrate the complex nature of the illicit crops production in Afghanistan and prompt a more profound examination of the drivers of opium poppy cultivation in a spatial *** study also confirms what has already been widely discussed in literature:that reasons for cultivation are spatially diverse and often distinct,meaning that any formulation of generalized explanations cannot be drawn without ignoring a more complex ***,an integrative spatial view of risk,which integrates the social dimension as well as environmental parameters,is required to better identify context-specific intervention measures.

Identification of suitable sites for rainwater harvesting structures in arid and semi-arid regions:A review

Harvested rainwater is an alternative source of water in arid and semi-arid regions(ASArs)around the *** researchers have developed and applied various methodologies and criteria to identify suitable sites and techniques for rainwater harvesting(rWH).Determining the best method or guidelines for site selection,however,is *** main objective of this study was to define a general method for selecting suitable rWH sites in ASArs by assembling an inventory of the main methods and criteria developed during the last three *** categorised and compared four main methodologies of site selection from 48 studies published in scientific journals,reports of international organisations,or sources of information obtained from *** then identified three main sets of criteria for selecting rWH locations and the main characteristics of the most common rWH techniques used in *** methods were diverse,ranging from those based only on biophysical criteria to more integrated approaches including socio-economic criteria,especially after *** most important criteria for the selection of suitable sites for rWH were slope,land use/cover,soil type,rainfall,distance to settlements/streams,and *** success rate of rWH projects tended to increase when these criteria were considered,but an objective evaluation of these selection methods is still *** studies now select rHW sites using geographic information systems in combination with hydrological models and multi-criteria analysis.
