Tailored co-Extruded Cereals for Seniors: Fabrication， Palatability， and in vitro Digestibility

The rise in life expectancies and gap between life span and health span necessitate innovative approaches， interventions， and food solutions to secure healthy aging. This study， conducted within the framework of the EAT4AGE project of the Joint Programming Initiative 'A Healthy Diet for a Healthy Life’， focuses on the rational design of functional foods for older adults. A co-extruded cereal prototype， fortified with two bioactive moieties， Maca root powder and Olive leaf extract， aims to address nutritional gaps identified in older adults， with a particular emphasis on high-quality and highly digestible proteins. Analytical determinations reveal the cereals have rich macronutrient profile exceeding 12% (w/w) protein， 20% (w/w) fat， and low sugar ( commercially available products with texture analyses supporting improved hardness， reduced oral friction and oral comfort. An untrained consumer panel (n=21， Age 73 ± 5) confirmed high palatability in various metrics and overall acceptability that were also affirmed through a trained sensory panel. Lastly， the product digestion was explored through an age-tailored in vitro digestion model which consistently demonstrated high protein digestibility， surpassing 80%， across all product formulations. Further， calculation of the in vitro digestible indispensable amino acid score of the product affirms its high nutritional quality. Thus， this study underscores the potential of designing palatable foods that could help promote a balanced and sustainable diet towards healthy aging.

This article proposes a model-free adaptive contr-oller MFAC for BUCK converter by *** uses the model-free adaptive control algorithm based on the tight for-mat linear method;this method has achieved an intelligent rea-soning of the algorithm,and has rapid convergence for nonlin-ear controlled objects,so it restrains the time-varying parame-ters,the model mismatch and un-modeled dynamics *** and analyzing the simulated waveforms with the method of optimal control of buck converter by state feedback linearization,we can find that this method is simple and it avoi-ds some complex steps such as building a precise mathematical model,and distinguishing CCM and *** the duty cycle makes the response more effective and rapid,the induc-tance electric current is *** analysis and simulation tests show good functions of the model-free adaptive control.

We report the discovery of a peculiar X-ray transient,EP240408a,by Einstein Probe(EP)and follow-up studies made with EP,Swift,NICER,GROND,ATCA and other ground-based multiwavelength *** new transient was first detected with Wide-field X-ray Telescope(WXT)on board EP on April 8th,2024,manifested in an intense yet brief X-ray flare lasting for 12 *** flare reached a peak flux of 3:9×10^(−9) erg cm^(−2) s^(−1) in 0.5-4 keV,∼300 times brighter than the underlying X-ray emission detected throughout the *** and more precise follow-up observations by EP/FXT,Swift and NICER confirmed the finding of this new *** X-ray spectrum is non-thermal in 0.5-10 keV,with a power-law photon index varying within *** X-ray light curve shows a plateau lasting for∼4 d,followed by a steep decay till becoming undetectable∼10 d after the initial *** on its temporal property and constraints from previous EP observations,an unusual timescale in the range of 7-23 d is found for EP240408a,which is intermediate between the commonly found fast and long-term *** counterparts have been found in optical and near-infrared,with the earliest observation at 17 h after the initial X-ray detection,suggestive of intrinsically weak emission in these *** demonstrate that the remarkable properties of EP240408a are inconsistent with any of the transient types known so far,by comparison with,in particular,jetted tidal disruption events,gamma-ray bursts,X-ray binaries and fast blue optical *** nature of EP240408a thus remains an *** suggest that EP240408a may represent a new type of transients with intermediate timescales of the order of∼10 *** detection and follow-ups of more of such objects are essential for revealing their origin.

The light weight heat treated B-grade bulletproof steel was developed through composition design and optimization based on multiplex alloying,multiplex micro-alloying design ideas and complex phase structure strengthening *** puzzle how to avoid the quenching deformation problem of super high strength thin sheet was solved through heat treatment in a die with a set of cooling *** B-grade bulletproof steel plate has fine tempered lath martensite *** shooting and certification test results showed that the shoot resistance of B-grade bulletproof steel plate can meet the protection demand of Protection specification for cash carrying vehicles(GA 164—2005).In comparison with B-grade bulletproof steel plate made by one of the companies in Sweden,the weight of the developed B-grade bulletproof steel plate can be decreased by 8 %under the same shoot resistance *** will be meaningful for cash truck and anti-hijacking vehicle to realize light weight,energy conservation and emission reduction.
