Compounds with dual action on cyclic adenosine monophosphate （cAmP） and cyclic guanosine monophosphate （cGmP） may be a treatment option for erectile dysfunction, as they not only promote penile erection but also prevent the upregulation of phosphodiesterase-5. In this study, we examined the possible relaxant effect and mechanism of 17-nor-subincanadine E （SEC, 0.2-200 pmol I^-1）, a plant-derived alkaloid, in rabbit corpus cavernosum （RbCC） strips that had been precontracted by exposure to phenylephrine （10 pmol I^- 1） or a high concentration of K＋（60 mmol I^- 1） in vitro. In addition to SEC＇s effect on cAmP and cGmP levels, electrical field stimulation （EFS） in phenylephrine-precontracted RbCC and calcium chloride （1-100 mmol I^-1） evoked responses in depolarized RbCC were analysed. SEC relaxed the phenylephrine-precontracted RbCCs in a concentration-dependent manner. Atropine, guanethidine and N-co-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester （L-NAmE） did not have any effect on the relaxation of RBCCs. When 1H-1,2,4oxadiazole[4,3-a] quinoxalin-1-one （ODQ） was added, it effectively blocked the relaxant response of SEC. Although SEC enhanced the maximal relaxation produced by sodium nitroprusside （SNP） and forskolin in phenylephrine-precontracted cavernosal smooth muscle, it caused a decrease in the maximal contractile response induced by calcium chloride in depolarized RbCCs. The relaxant effect of SEC was paralleled by an increase in the tissue levels of the Cyclic nucleotides cAmP and cGmP. We conclude that SEC promotes the relaxation of RbCC, possibly favouring cAmP and cGmP accumulation and calcium blockade. This novel mechanism could be useful for patients who do not benefit from phosphodiesterase inhibitors and for those with endothelial and nitrergic dysfunction, such as patients with diabetes, hypertension and dyslipidaemias.

Background: Oxidative stress has been implicated in the progression of severe forms of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD). NADPH oxidase produces reactive oxygen species. In the present study, we investigated for the first time two single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) in the regulatory region of genes encoding NADPH oxidase 4(NOX4) and p22 phox(CYBA) in ***: A total of 207 biopsy-proven NAFLD patients [simple steatosis(n = 27); nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH)(n = 180)] were evaluated. Genomic DNA was extracted from peripheral blood cells, and polymorphisms in CYBA(unregistered) and NOX4(rs3017887) were determined by direct sequencing of ***: Associations of CYBA-675 T/A with high-density lipoprotein(HDL)(TT vs TA vs AA; P morphisms in the NOX4 gene, NOX4(rs3017887) CA + AA genotypes was significant associated with alanine aminotransferase(ALT)(CA + AA vs CC; P = 0.02). However, there was no association of SNPs in the CYBA and NOX4 genes encoding the NADPH oxidase system proteins and the presence of NASH. Regarding the clinical results, it was observed that the most advanced degrees of fibrosis occurred in patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus(66.9% vs 37.5%, P more obese(32.2 vs 29.0 kg/m2,P m glucose and insulin levels increased significantly in the presence of ***: There were associations between the presence of the allele A in the NOX4 SNP and a higher concentration of ALT in the NAFLD population; between the presence of the AA genotype in the polymorphism of the CYBA-675 T/A CYBA gene and a higher level of TGL and lower HDL in NASH patients. The presence of metabolic syndrome was associated with advanced degrees of fibrosis in NAFLD patients.

Disaster response actors are facing new challenges, which encompass not only new and ever more complex threats but also the need to collaborate across organizational boundaries and even state *** on scale, these interactions have to work across governance setups, political and legal conditions, organizational cultures, as well as personal preferences and experiences that vary among actors, organizations, and countries. But which concrete measures are taken by crisis management actors at different scales to bridge these challenges and which of these could serve others as example to address comparable challenges in their contexts? This study made attempts to analyze whether certain solutions across organizations and states exist that facilitate effective interorganizational crisis management in the member states of the European Union(EU). It is based on selected expert interviews with representatives of different types of disaster response organizations(health services,police services, fire services, and other crisis management organizations) from seven EU member states(Germany,Netherlands, United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, Austria, and Greece).

The geomechanical and stability design of an underground granite mine located in Canal San Bovo （Trento district, Northeastern Italy） was described. The exploitation of the granite, which is used in the ceramic industry, was carried out by the rooms and rib pillars method. The rooms are 12 m wide while the pillars are 11 m wide and they cross the main discontinuity set of the rock mass in the perpendicular direction. To verify the stability condition of an underground mine, it is necessary to carry out the calcula- tions that are able to check both the local and global stability of the rock mass. In the studied example, this approach has been applied with the development of analytical and numerical parametric analyses and it has permitted to get the best orientation and to design the size of rooms and pillars.

The Venda Nova Pluton （VNP） is a zoned ring structure emplaced in the southern portion of the Neoproterozoic Araquai Belt, in Espirito Santo, Brazil. It is a slightly westward tilted cylinder-like intrusion, with an almost circular horizontal section. In the center of this structure, an off-centered gabbro-noritic core, surrounded by syeno-monzonitic rocks, intrudes an outer ring of charnockites and norite. These envelop the syeno-monzonitic and gabbro-noritic center, as a narrow discontinuous belt. While, in the core intrusion, mingling and mixing processes are widespread and well documented in the literature, in the outer ring, the norite and charnockite layers show predominantly homogeneous and isotropic internal structures. Nevertheless, smaller interaction zones between charnockites and norite denote a comparatively more restricted mingling process. The norite is a fine-grained rock with hypidio- morphic granular to intergranular texture. The charnockites are medium-grained and made up of：（a） orthopyroxene-tonalite, （h） orthopyroxene-quartz-diorite, and （c） orthopyroxene-granodiorite with hy- pidiomorphic granular to porphyritic textures. In all lithotypes both ortho- and clinopyroxene are replaced by hornblende and biotite. Two contrasting compositional sequences have been recognized, based on whole rock geochemistry：（1） a basic, with tholeiitic affinities （norite） and, （2） an intermediate, medium-K calc-alkalinc, comprising the charnockites. Estimated crystallization temperatures, which have been calculated from micro-probe analysis of pyroxenes, range from 915± 25 ℃ to 960 ± 50 ℃. Re-equilibration temperature （ihnenite-magnetite calibration） is around 600 ~ 50 ℃. This indicates oxygen fugacities four order of magnitude below the FmQ-buffer and a reduced environment. Coeval pressure conditions estimated from the Al-content in hornblende range from 5.5 ± 0.6 kbar. Data obtained for the norite point toward an evolution from the partial melting of an anhydrous

Layered double hydroxide(LDH)conversion coatings loaded with corrosion inhibitors were suggested for the surface treatment of the aluminum alloy 2024-T3,prior to friction spot joining with carbon-fiber reinforced polyphenylene sulfide(AA2024-T3/CF-PPS).Vanadate was used as a model corrosion *** shear testing method revealed an increase of approx.20%of the joint’s adhesion performance when treated with LDH and before exposure to salt *** evaluation of the joints after exposure to salt spray demonstrated a significant difference in the corrosion behavior of the joints when the AA2024-T3 is treated with LDH loaded with nitrate and vanadate *** LDH intercalated with nitrate revealed a clear improvement in the mechanical and corrosion resistance performance of the joints,even after 6 weeks of salt ***,the LDH intercalated with vanadate failed in providing protection against corrosion as well as preserving the mechanical properties of the *** effect of the galvanic corrosion was further investigated by zero resistance ammeter(ZRA)measurements as well as localized scanning vibrating electrode technique(SVET).
