Association of vegetable Consumption with Nutritional Status in Adolescents in Mexico City

It has been documented that increased vegetable consumption is associated with preventive effects in some public health problems such as obesity and some chronic noncommunicable diseases. The aim of this study was to determine the association of nutritional status with vegetable consumption in adolescents from Technical High Schools in Mexico City. A sample of 2368 adolescents was obtained who were applied a questionnaire of frequency food consumption and anthropometric measurements were taken, the nutritional diagnosis was obtained with Who Anthro Plus program. The data obtained were analyzed with the statistical package SPSS version 20.0 for Windows Statistics®. When the correlation of frequency consumption of vegetables with nutritional status, in the final phase, It found that teens who never ate vegetables were more likely to develop obesity (36.0% GI and 36.10% GC), compared with teens who consumed daily (8.9% GI and 2.10% GC), existing difference highly significant. The teenagers of the Technical High School in Mexico City in the intervention group presented a basal daily intake of 15.7% and after the intervention their intake increased to 21.3%. With respect to the control group it started with a daily intake of 12.6% to 14.9% increasing it. An increase was achieved in the daily consumption of vegetables in adolescents of both groups so it is concluded that the intervention was successful.

The goal was to compare body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), waist to height ratio (WHtR), and relative fat mas (RFM), to identify the best predictor of overweight and obesity in university students from Mexico. This is a cross-sectional survey with 697 university students from northern and central Mexico (448 women, and 249 men aged 18 - 19 years). Data was collected during 2018. Overweight and obesity were calculated from those indices and for both, female and male students, the order of correlation between a pair of indices were WHtR vs. RFM > WHtR vs. WC > RFM vs. WC > WHtR vs. BMI > BMI vs. WC > RFM vs. BMI. It is concluded to use the WHtR and the RFM to better predict overweight and obesity in young Mexican university students.

In this paper, a comparative study of the XRD characterization and FTIR spectroscopic behavior of some M^ILn^IIITiO4 phases with M^I： Na, H, K and Ln^III, the trivalent lanthanides elements： Sm, Eu, Er and Yb is reported. The H and K- oxides were obtained by ion-exchange from NaLnTiO4. These ternary oxides belong to the K2NiF4 structural type, with the M^I and Ln^III cations distributed in an ordered way on the K-sub lattice. The FTIR spectra of the materials were analyzed by comparison with structurally related materials. A close relationship with the parent NaLnTiO4 was found.

BACKGROUND Interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome(IC/BPS)is an at least 6-mo noninfectious bladder inflammation of unknown origin characterized by chronic suprapubic,abdominal,and/or pelvic *** the term cystitis suggests an inflammatory or infectious origin,no definite cause has been *** occurs in both sexes,but women are twice as much *** To systematically review evidence of psychiatric/psychological changes in persons with IC/*** Hypothesizing that particular psychological characteristics could underpin IC/BPS,we investigated in three databases the presence of psychiatric symptoms and/or disorders and/or psychological characteristics in patients with IC/BPS using the following strategy:("interstitial cystitis"OR"bladder pain syndrome")AND("mood disorder"OR depressive OR antidepressant OR depression OR depressed OR hyperthymic OR mania OR manic OR rapid cyclasterisk OR dysthymiasterisk OR dysphoriasterisk).RESULTS On September 27,2023,the PubMed search produced 223 articles,CINAHL 62,and the combined PsycLIT/PsycARTICLES/PsycINFO/Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection search *** on *** produced 14 studies,of which none had available *** were peer-reviewed articles reporting psychiatric/psychological symptoms in patients with IC/BPS,i.e.63 articles spanning from 2000 to October *** studies identified depression and anxiety problems in the IC/BPS population,along with sleep problems and the tendency to *** Psychotherapies targeting catastrophizing and life stress emotional awareness and expression reduced perceived pain in women with IC/*** concepts should be considered when implementing treatments aimed at reducing IC/BPS-related pain.

Lightweight Approach to Connect Business Rules with Aspects

Aspectual connection that compose business rule, refers to the code in charge of not only triggering the application of the rules at certain events, but also gathering the necessary information for their application and incorporating their results in the rest of the core application functionality. We propose an approach to connect business rule with aspect systematically. This approach is agile, programming language-independent, business rules type independent and it can be used in different stages of development. This approach considers the identification, analysis and construction of connections with aspects, (aspectual connection). We use our experience and previous works to define the initial steps, and complete them with the analysis of interactions and propose methods to implement aspectual connections code. We have developed a tool that supports this approach.

AIM： To examine the presence of human papillomavirus （HPv） in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma （ESCC） specimens collected from Colombia and Chile located in the northern and southern ends of the continent, respectively.METHODS： We examined 47 and 26 formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded ESCC specimens from Colombia and Chile, respectively. HPv was detected using GP5＋/GP6＋ primer pair for PCR, and confirmed by Southern blot analysis. Sequencing analysis of L1 region fragment was used to identify HPv genotype. In addition, P16^INK4A protein immunostaining of all the specimens was conducted.RESULTS： HPv was detected in 21 ESCC specimens （29%）. Sequencing analysis of L1 region fragment identified HPv-16 genome in 6 Colombian cases （13%） and in 5 Chilean cases （19%）. HPv-18 was detected in i0 cases （21%） in Colombia but not in any Chilean case. Since Chilean ESCC cases had a higher prevalence of HPv-16 （without statistical significance）, but a significantly lower prevalence of HPv-18 than in Colombian cases （P = 0.011） even though the two countries have similar ESCC incidence rates, the frequency of HPv-related ESCC may not be strongly affected by risk factors affecting the incidence of ESCC. HPv-16 genome was more frequently detected in p16 positive carcinomas, although the difference was not statistically significant. HPv-18 detection rate did not show any association with p16 expression. Well-differentiated tumors tended to have either HPv-16 or HPv-18 but the association was not statistically significant. HPv genotypes other than HPv-16 or 18 were not detected in either country.CONCLUSION： HPv-16 and HPv-18 genotypes can be found in ESCC specimens collected from two South American countries. Further studies on the relationship between HPv-16 presence and p16 expression in ESCC would aid understanding of the mechanism underlying the presence of HPv in ESCC.

Comparison of Interfacial and Foaming Properties of Soy and Whey Protein Isolates

A comparative study on the foaming properties and behavior at the air-water interface of soy and whey protein isolates were made, Foams were obtained by the method of gas bubbling. The initial rate of passage of liquid to the foam （vi） and the maximum volume of liquid incorporated to the foam （vLEmax） were determined. The destabilization process of the formed foams was analyzed by a biphasic second order equation. Measurements of equilibrium surface tension （water/air） and surface rheological properties were carried out in a dynamic drop tensiometer. The foaming capacity （vi and vLEmax） and the stability of foams prepared with the whey protein isolates （WPI） were better than those formulated with the soy protein isolates （SPI）. WPI foams were more stable showing the lower values of rate constants of gravity drainage and disproportion. There were significant differences （P 〈 0.05） in the dilatational modulus in the surface rheology measurements, which were higher at the interface with WPI, implying greater resistance of the film formed to collapse and disproportion. In conclusion, WPI formed better and more stable foams than the SPI.

Effect of Acid Treatment on Interfacial and Foam Properties of Soy Proteins

The goal of the present work was to study the effects of acid treatment on the foaming properties of a soybean protein isolate （SPI） and its fractions, glycinin （11S） and β-conglycinin （7S）. The structural characteristics, interfacial properties, foaming capacity and stability of the treated proteins were studied. Results from surface hydrophobicity and differential scanning calorimetry （DSC） showed that the acid treatment caused the complete denaturation of 11S and a partial denaturation of 7S. This protein unfolding affected their interracial properties, which led to an improvement in the foaming properties of both protein fractions and isolate. Treated 7S showed the best behavior in the rearrangement process, probably due to its smaller size and its modified structural characteristics. All treated proteins showed stronger interracial films. The foams of treated proteins were destabilized mostly due to gravitational drainage rather than Ostwald ripening.

<i>Azospirillum</i>Growth Promotion Is Related to Changes in Ferulate and Dehydrodiferulate Contents in Cell Wall of Inoculated Cucumber Seedlings Hypocotyls

Azospirillum brasilense is a well known plant growth-promoting rhizobacterium. Plant cell growth is constrained by the primary cell wall (CW) which contains polysaccharide-bound hydroxycinammic acids (HCAs). They derive from phenylpropanoid metabolism, which first step is the reaction catalyzed by phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (PAL;EC 4.***.1.24). Also CW peroxidases (FAPOD;EC 1.***.1.7) play a key role in the stiffening of the CW, and in the cessation of cell elongation. Knowledge of the biochemical effects the bacteria could elicit into plant CW and how these responses could change the hypocotyl physiology still remains scarce. The objective of this work was to unravel the effects of A. brasilense Sp245 inoculation on HCAs of the primary CW in apical and basal segments of cucumber seedlings hypocotyls. Azospirillum inoculation increased hypocotyls’ length. Transferulate and p-coumarate were the major HCAs. Dimmers were detected only in the basal region of 13- and 15-d-old hypocotyls. The ratio t-ferulate/dimmer (an inverse index of CW cross-linking) was five times higher in inoculated seedlings. Enzyme activities determined were not directly involved in HCAs content changes. It was previously reported that the CW was a target for A. brasilense growth promotion. This work corroborates that the phenolics, FA, DFA, and p-coumarate bound to the CW are also involved in Azospirillum plant growth promoting strategies.

Genotyping-by-sequencing of pear (Pyrus spp.) accessions unravels novel patterns of genetic diversity and selection footprints
