The effects of Co and Fe co-doping ni-Mn-In alloy on the phase stability,lattice parameters,mag-netic properties,and electronic structures are systematically investigated by using the first-principles *** indicate that Fe atoms replace the excess Mn2 atoms by direct and indirect coex-istence(Fe→Mn 2 and Fe→In→Mn2);Co substitutes the ni atoms by direct substitution(Co→ni)for the ni-Mn-In *** austenites all exhibit the ferromagnetic(FM)state for the studied *** nM martensites are in the ferrimagnetic(FIM-1)state for the ni_(2)Mn_(1.5)In_(0.5),ni_(2)Mn_(1.25)In_(0.5)Fe 0.25,ni_(1.75)Mn_(1.5)In_(0.5)Co_(0.25),and ni_(1.75)Mn_(1.25)In_(0.5)Co_(0.25)Fe 0.25 alloys,while the other compositions are in the FM *** phase stability of austenite and martensite decreases with increasing Co and Fe co-doping.A magnetic-structural coupling transition occurs at xnd yni_(1.91)Mn_(1.5)In_(0.5)Co_(0.08)and ni_(1.91)Mn_(1.42)In_(0.5)Co_(0.08)Fe_(0.08)alloys exhibit an A→6M→nM transformation,accompanied by a magnetic *** Co and Fe are co-doped,the hybridization strength between Co and Fe is greater than that between Co/Fe and *** enhancement of magnetocaloric and elastocaloric effects is favored by larger magnetization difference(△M)and lattice volume change(△V/V_(0)).Based on the calculated phase stability,magneto-structure coupling,△V/V 0 and c/a ratio,one can predict that the ni_(2)-x Mn_(1.5)-y In_(0.5)Co x Fe y alloy with Co content 0≤x≤0.25 and Fe content 0≤y≤0.05 is predicted to have good magneto-controlled functional behavior.

We have investigated the phase stability,magnetic properties,and martensitic transformation thermodynamics/kinetics of the ni_(24-x)Mn_(18+x+y)Sn_(6-y)(x,y=0,1,2)system by combining the first-principles calculations and *** calculation results show that the optimized lattice parameters are consistent with the experimental ***,we obtain the relation equation for the austenite formation energy(e_(form-A))and Mn content(X_(Mn)):e_(form-A)=507.358X_(Mn)-274.126,as well as for the six-layer modulated(6M)martensite formation energy(e_(form-6M))and ni content(X_(ni)):e_(form-6M)=-728.484X_(ni)+*** ternary phase diagram of the total magnetic moment was *** excess Mn will reduce the total magnetic moment of 6M(Mag6M)and non-modulated(nM)(MagnM)martensites,with the following equations relating the total magnetic moment and Mn content:Mag_(6M)=-15.905X_(Mn)+7.902and Mag_(nM)=-14.781X_(Mn)+7.411,while the effect on austenite is *** variation of total magnetic moment is mainly dominated by the Mn atomic magnetic *** 3d electrons of Mn_(Sn)(Mn at Sn sublattice)play an important role in magnetic properties from the perspective of the electronic density of *** on the thermodynamics of martensitic transformation,the alloys will likely undergo austenite?6M?nM transformation *** the thermodynamic and kinetic results,the martensitic transformation temperature decreases with x increasing and increases with y *** results are expected to provide reference for predicting the phase stability and magnetic properties of niMn-Sn alloys.

The objective of this work is to dry the mushrooms to evaluate the impact of drying on them. The drying of mushrooms in the oven, in the solar dryer and in the microwave indicated that for Termitomyces sp. the total polyphenol contents were 15.20 mgeAG/gMs for the microwave drying (280 W), 13.61 mgeAG/gMs for the oven drying (60°C), and 9.81 mgeAG/gMs for the solar dryer drying (40°C). For Pleurotus sp., the contents obtained were 13.79 mgeAG/gMs for microwave drying (280 W), 8.36 mgeAG/gMs for oven drying (60°C) and 8.98 mgeAG/gMs for solar drying (40°C). Regarding flavonoids, for Termitomyces sp., this revealed 0.5797 mgeCa/gMs for microwave drying (280 W), 0.729 mgeCa/gMs for oven drying (60°C) and 0.5671 mgeCa/gMs for solar drying (40°C). The flavonoid contents for Pleurotus sp. gave 0.842 mgeCa/gMs for microwave drying (280 W), 1.06 mgeCa/gMs for oven drying (60°C) and, 0.425 mgeCa/gMs for solar drying (40°C). For Termitomyces sp., the levels of free radical scavenging activity varied from 13.02 mg/mL for microwave drying, 25.08 mg/mL for oven drying, and 22.25 mg/mL for solar drying;while for Pleurotus sp., 15.96 mg/mL for microwave drying, 39.90 mg/mL for oven drying, and 31.60 mg/mL for solar drying.

effect of stress ratio on long life fatigue behavior of Ti-Al alloy under flexural loading

A new ultrasonic three-point bending fatigue test device was introduced to investigate fatigue life ranging up to 1010 cycles and associated fracture behavior of Ti-Al alloy. Tests were performed at a frequency of 20 kHz with stress ratio R=0.5 and R=0.7 at ambient temperature in air. Three groups of specimens with different surface roughness were applied to investigate the effect of surface roughness on fatigue life. Furthermore, optical microscopy(OM) and scanning electron microscopy(SeM) were used for microstructure characteristic and fracture surface analysis. The S—n curves obtained show that fatigue failure occurs in the range of 105 ?1010 cycles, and the asymptote of S—n curve inclines slightly in very high cycle regime, but is not horizontal for R=0.5. Fatigue limit appears after 108 cycles for R=0.7. Surface roughness (the maximum roughness is no more than 3 μm) has no influence on the fatigue properties in the high cycle regime. A detailed investigation on fatigue fracture surface shows that the Ti-Al alloy studied here is a binary alloy in the microstructure composed of α2-Ti3Al and γ-Ti-Al with fully lamellar microstructure. Fractography shows that fatigue failures are mostly initiated on the surface of specimens, also, in very high cycle regime, subsurface fatigue crack initiation can be found. Interlamellar fatigue crack initiation is predominant in the Ti-Al alloy with fully lamellar structure. Fatigue crack growth is mainly in transgranular mode.

In order to describe a solid which deforms smoothly in some region, but non smoothly in some other region, many multiscale methods have been recently proposed that aim at coupling an atomistic model （discrete mechanics） with a macroscopic model （continuum mechanics）. We provide here a theoretical basis for such a coupling in a one-dimensional setting, in the case of convex energy.

Seabird and marine mammal at-sea distribution in the western Bering Sea and along the eastern Kamtchatka Peninsula

Seabird and marine mammal at-sea distribution in the western Bering Sea and along the eastern Kamtchatka(Kamtsjatka)Peninsula was determined during 114 transect counts,lasting 30 min each,in September 2018.A total of 58000 seabirds were tallied,i.e.a mean value of 510 per *** most abundant species was short-tailed shearwater:43250 individuals representing 74%of the *** and kittiwake represented 13%and 8%of the *** geographical differences were noted,concerning both the number of seabird species and their *** following species were tallied mainly in the northern zone(north of 60°n):fulmar(light morphs),short-tailed shearwater,Vega(herring)gull and horned *** the southern zone,including Commander(Komandorski)Islands,observed species included fulmar(dark morphs),pelagic cormorant,glaucous-winged gull,red-legged kittiwake and black *** vast majority of the 100 cetaceans and 40 pinnipeds were tallied in the southern area,mainly porpoises,killer whale and humpback whale,and Largha(spotted)seal.

Very low biodiversity of top predators—seabirds and marine mammals—in the high Arctic Ocean

During the ARK-XXIII/3 expedition of icebreaking RV Polarstern in the high Arctic Ocean(partim north of 73°n)from 25 August to 10 October 2008,550 transect counts lasting 30 min were devoted to seabird and marine mammal counts from the *** the whole area,the three most numerous species,kittiwake Rissa tridactyla,fulmar Fulmarus glacialis and Brünnich’s guillemot Uria lomvia represented 90%of the total of 12000 individuals registered,followed by ivory gull Pagophila eburnea,black guillemot Cepphus grylle and Ross’s gull Rodostethia *** geographical zones were recognized on the basis of number of species and *** were especially low in the deeper areas(mean depth of 3000 m),both ice-free and heavily ice-covered:0.3 birds per 30 min count belonging to three and four species *** most numerous species was kittiwake with 0.25 per count(50 individuals)in the ice-covered *** numbers were very low as well,the most numerous of the four species tallied being 20 harp seals Phoca groenlandica and 10 ringed seal Pusa *** polar bears Ursus maritimus were *** observations were basically confirmed during 12 helicopter flights lasting one hour each with very low numbers:50 kittiwakes and 13 harp seals,almost none in the ice-covered deep zone.A comparison between data obtained from ship and from helicopter seems however to reflect the importance of seabird followers including for long *** only cetaceans were two adult belugas Delphinapterus leucas tallied from helicopter.

Composition dependence of martensitic transformations as well as the magnetic properties for the ni_2 Mn_(1+x)In_(1-x)(0.25≤x≤0.58)alloys were investigated by using the first-principles *** results demonstrate that the stability of parent austenite(A)decreases gradually with increasing Mn content whilst it is opposite for the martensitic *** causes the total energy difference between the austenite and martensite phases increscent with increasing Mn *** x=0.33,the martensite transformation during cooling is PA→FA→*** x≥0.42,an intermartensitic transformation occurs from modulated 6 M martensite to non-modulated(nM)martensite with the martensite transformation sequence of PA→FA→6 M→*** martensitic transformation from austenite to martensite accompanies the transition from ferromagnetic to ferrimagnetic *** is a typical magneto-structural coupling *** analysis of the density of states demonstrates that the ni 3 d state plays an important role in the phase stability.

The effects of site occupation on the phase stability,martensitic transformation,and the magnetic and electronic properties of a full series of ni-Mn-In alloys are theoretically studied by using the ab initio *** indicate that the excess atoms of the rich component directly take the sublattices of the deficient components of the ni2Mn_(1+x)In_(1-x),ni2-xMn_(1+x)In,and ni_(2+x)Mn_(1-x)In ***,the mixed and indirect site occupations may coexist in the ni_(2+x)Mn In_(1-x)*** relevant magnetic configurations of the austenite for the four alloy systems have also been *** results show that,except for the austenite in the ni2-xMn_(1+x)In alloys,which tend to be ferrimagnetic,the other alloys all present ferromagnetic ***,the site occupation and associated magnetic states are the crucial influencing factors of the phase stability,martensitic transformation,and the total magnetic *** electronic structure of the austenite phase also shows that the covalent bonding plays an important role in the phase *** key finding of this work is both ni2Mn_(1+x)In_(1-x)and ni_(2+x)Mn In_(1-x)alloys serve as the potential shape memory alloys.

A quantum cascade laser infrared spectrometer for CO_2 stable isotope analysis：Field implementation at a hydrocarbon contaminated site under bio-remediation

Real-time methods to monitor stable isotope ratios of CO_2 are needed to identify biogeochemical origins of CO_2 emissions from the soil–air interface. An isotope ratio infra-red spectrometer（IRIS） has been developed to measure CO_2 mixing ratio with δ~13C isotopic signature, in addition to mixing ratios of other greenhouse gases（CH_4, n2_O）. The original aspects of the instrument as well as its precision and accuracy for the determination of the isotopic signature δ~13C of CO_2 are discussed. A first application to biodegradation of hydrocarbons is presented, tested on a hydrocarbon contaminated site under aerobic bio-treatment. CO_2 flux measurements using closed chamber method is combined with the determination of the isotopic signature δ~13C of the CO_2 emission to propose a non-intrusive method to monitor in situ biodegradation of hydrocarbons. In the contaminated area, high CO_2 emissions have been measured with an isotopic signature δ~13C suggesting that CO_2 comes from petroleum hydrocarbon *** first field implementation shows that rapid and accurate measurement of isotopic signature of CO_2 emissions is particularly useful in assessing the contribution of contaminant degradation to the measured CO_2 efflux and is promising as a monitoring tool for aerobic bio-treatment.
