AIM:To investigate the polymorphic simple sequencerepeat in intron 1 of the epidermal growth factor receptorgene(EGFR)(CA-ssRⅠ),which is known to affect theefficiency of gene transcription as a putative target of themismatch repair(MMR)machinery in colorectal ***:The CA-ssRⅠgenotype was analyzed ina total of 86 primary colorectal tumors,selected upontheir microsatellite instability(MsI)status[42 with highfrequency MsI(MsI-H)and 44 microsatellite stable(Mss)]and their respective normal *** effect of the CA-ssRⅠgenotype on the expression of the EGFR gene wasevaluated in 18 specimens using quantitative real-timereverse transcription PCR and ***:Mutations in CA-ssRⅠwere detected in 86%(36 of 42)of MsI-H colorectal tumors and 0%(0 of 44)ofMss tumors,indicating the EGFR gene as a novel putativespecific target of the defective MMR system(Pssion of EGFR was detected in most ofthe colorectal tumors analyzed[6/12(50%)at the mRNAlevel and 15/18(83%)at the peptide level].However,noassociation was apparent between EGFR expression andCA-ssRⅠstatus in tumors or normal ***:Our results suggest that CA-ssRⅠsequence does not contribute to the regulation of EGFRtranscription in colon,and should thus not be consideredas a promising predictive marker for response to EGFRinhibitors in patients with colorectal cancer.

Did You sleep Well,Darling?—Link between sleep Quality and Relationship Quality

Background: Relationship quality and sleep quality influenced physiological and psychological health. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to determine a possible connection between relationship satisfaction and sleep quality and to test a theoretical model of sleep quality as related to relationship and psychological well-being. Methods: Fifty-one heterosexual, cohabitating couples between 24 and 70 years old participated. The relationship quality was measured by the German short version of relationship questionnaire. To determine the sleep quality, the Pittsburgh sleep Quality Index and a two-week sleep diary were implemented. To gather information about psychological well-being, especially depression and anxiety, the German symptom Checklist was used. Results: sleep quality was measured by the Pittsburgh sleep Quality Index and relationship quality correlated significantly negative. In addition, the study found a positive correlation between sleep duration and relationship quality. In a multiple regression model, fighting and mental strain explained 38% of variance of sleep quality. Depression, anxiety and relationship quality showed no further improvement of the model. These findings suggested that relationship quality, constructive partnership behavior and mental strain played an essential role in sleep quality.

Dengue in renal transplant recipients: Clinical course and impact on renal function

AIM To present clinical characteristics from renal transplant recipients with dengue fever and its impact on graft *** We retrospectively evaluated 11 renal transplant recipients(RTR) with dengue infection confirmed by laboratory test, between January 2007 and July 2012, transplanted in the Renal Transplant Center of Walter Cantídio University Hospital from Federal University of Ceará. REsULTs Positive dengue serology(IgM) was found in all patients. The mean time between transplant and dengue infection was 43 mo. Fever was presented in all patients. Nine patients presented with classical dengue and two(18%) with dengue hemorrhagic fever. All cases had satisfactory evolution with complete recovery of the symptoms. The time for symptom resolution varied from 2 to 20 d, with an average of 9 d. An increase of creatinine after the infection was observed in three(27.2%) patients with no clinically impact on the kidney graft function. CONCLUsION RTR with dengue infection seems to have a clinical presentation and evolution similar to those seen in the general population, with no long-term damage to patient and to the graft.

AIM:To evaluate the safety and efficacy of vitamin E in children with chronic hepatitis ***:We randomly assigned patients with chronic hepatitis B,positive for hepatitis B e antigen(HBeAg),to receive either vitamin E or placebo once daily for 6 mo in a 3:1 ratio and double-blind *** primary end point was HBeAg seroconversion,defined as the loss of HBeAg,undetectable levels of serum hepatitis B virus DNA,and the appearance of antibodies against HBeAg 12 mo after ***:At baseline visit,49 patients had normal and 43 had increased serum aminotransferase ***-nine patients did not respond to previous treatment with interferon-α or ***-six children completed the study;16 were non-compliant(n = 7),lost to follow-up(n = 7),or started another antiviral treatment(n = 3).Intention-to-treat analysis showed HBeAg seroconversion in 16 children(23.2%) treated with vitamin E and two(8.7%) in the placebo group(P = 0.13).Vitamin E was well ***:There is only a tendency that vitamin E may promote HBeAg *** larger studies are needed to clarify the role of antioxidants in the therapy of chronic hepatitis B.

simple, rapid and reliable method for the determination of albendazole （ABZ） was described. This includes the utility of some π-acceptors such as 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-p-benzoquinone （DDQ） and 3,6-dichloro-2,5-dihydroxy-p-benzoquinone （p-cla） for estimation of ABZ drug （act as donor）. The experimental conditions were optimized and the system obeys Beer＇s law for 7.50-80 and 10.00-85.00 ug·mL-1 of ABZ using DDQ and p-cla, respectively. The molar absorptivity and sandell sensitivity were calculated to be 1.83× 10^3 and 1.12× 10^3 L·mol ·cm -1 and 2.60 and 3.40 ng·cm -2 using DDQ and p-cla, respectively. The limits of detection and quantification were calculated to be （7.42 and 6.73） and （9.94 and 4.13） ug·mL-1 using DDQ and p-cla, respectively. The proposed methods were successfully applied to the determination of ABZ in commercially available dosage forms. The reliability of the assays was established by parallel determination by the official method and recovery studies. The chemical structures of the solid charge-transfer （CT） complexes formed via reaction between ABZ under study and π-acceptors, have been elucidated using elemental analyses （C, H and N）, IR, 1H NMR and mass spectra.

Fabrication of semiconductor Polymer Membranes Combined with a Colored Charge Transfer Complexes Used in the Manufacture of solar Cells as a source of Alternative Energy

The main task of this article was to prepared of new pigment model in situ solar cells accordance to charge-transfer complexes of rhodamine C(RhC) donor as dye laser gain media with iodine(σ-acceptor) and chloranilic acid, cla(π-acceptor). The synthesis stoichiometry of these complexes were of 1∶2(donor∶acceptor) with general formulas [(RhC)]I·I3 and [(RhC)(cla)2]. The discussed data of elemental analysis, conductivity measurements, FT-IR, UV-Vis spectroscopy and photometric titration data visualized the stoichiometry, formula and complexity of the complexes. The physicochemical and spectroscopic analyses obtained suggested that the electron transfer occurred through nitrogen atom in a tertiary amine —N(C2H5)2 of RhC donor with acceptor. The synthesized solid complexes were under go to thermogravimetric analyses to investigate their thermal stability and decomposition steps. The molar conductance measurements revealed that RhC complexes have an electrolytic statement. The thermal stability of rhodamine C complexes was enhanced in comparable with RhC itself. The polymer membranes of poly-methyl methacrylate)(PMMA) combined with the RhC charge(transfer complexes in chloroform solvent have been prepared and characterized by(infrared & electronic) spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy(sEM) morphological examination. The photo-stability properties of the RhC complexes have been investigated.

Effect of supplementation of Conjugated Linoleic Acid in Diets on Growth Performance and Total Lactic Bacteria iin small Intestine of Broiler

The effect of supplementation of conjugated linoleic acid （cla） in diets on growth performance and total lactic bacteria （LAB） in small intestine of broiler. One hundred sixty eight broilers （Arbor Acres; 1 wk old） were randomly assigned to 8 groups. Each group （male 21 and female 21 broiler chickens） was further randomly divided into 3 replicates of 7 chickens were assigned to 4 dietary treatments （0%, 0.5%, 1.0%, and 1.5% cla）. Feed consumption and BW were recorded at every 7-day period. On day 56, and each week were collected at ileal content in small intestine for the total count of lactic acid bacteria （LAB）. There were highly significant differences in body weight gain, average dairy feed intake, average dairy gain and feed conversion ratio among the treatments （P 〈 0.01）. Moreover, our results revealed that the highest detection trend from the ileal occurred during the period in the supplementation of cla.

Conjugated Linoleic Acid and Dietary Fats Differentially Affect Hepatic ACAT Activity and LDL-Cholesterol in Postweanling Pigs Fed Low-Fat Diets

ABsTRACT：Two separate studies tested the hypoth- esis that plasma low-density lipoprotein cholesterol LDL-C ） can be decreased by conjugated linoleic acid （cla） by depressing hepatic acyl-coenzyme A： cholesterol acyltransferase （ACAT） activity. In the first experiment, 3 groups of 6 early-weaned piglets were fed low-fat diets containing either 1.5% cla, 1.5% corn oil or 1.5% beef tallow;fat provided 8% of the energy intake. In the second experiment, 4 groups of 6 early-weaned piglets were fed high-fat di- ets containing either 15% beef tallow, 12% beef tal- low plus 3% cla, 15% corn oil, or 12% corn oil plus 3% cla; fat provided 29% of energy intake. Cholesterol was balanced across diets in both experi-ments. In pigs fed the low-fat diets, all dietary fats in- creased LDL-C and triacylglycerols and decreased high-density lipoprotein cholesterol （ HDL-C ） and very low-density lipoprotein cholesterol （VLDL-C）. LDL-C was the same in pigs fed low-fat tallow or low-fat cla diets. However, ACAT activity was near- ly 80% higher in pigs fed the low-fat tallow diet than in pigs fed the low-fat cla diets. All high-fat diets increased LDL-C, HDL-C and triacylglycerols equally with no effect on VLDL-C. There were no unique fat- ty acid effects of the high-fat diets on ACAT activity. We conclude that supplemental fats had differential effects on hepatic ACAT activity and LDL-C, but on- ly in pigs fed low-fat diets.

Metformin(Met)is a drug developed for the treatment of patients with typeⅡ ***,Met estimation in pharmaceutical formulations and human fluids has gained a growing *** extend requisite data that can be used to assessment of Met quantitatively based on charge-transfer(CT)complexation,the present study describes the synthesis and characterization of CT complexes that formed between drug Met and the organicπ-acceptors picric acid(PA),chloranilic acid(cla),chloranil(CHL),7,7',8,8'-tetracyanoquinodimethane(TCNQ),and dichlorodicyanobenzoquinone(DDQ).The properties of the formed CT complexes were investigated by elemental,spectral(UV-visible,IR,and Raman spectroscopies),thermal(TG)and morphological(sEM)*** results indicated that the complexation of Met with either PA or cla acceptors occurs through proton transfer interaction,whereas its complexation with CHL,TCNQ,or DDQ acceptors occurs through n→π*interaction.
