This paper presents the results of an experimental survey on the potential application of DARC （dry asphalt rubber concrete） in rail superstructure, within sub-ballast layers by measuring its damping and mechanical properties. Based on the environmental friendly point of view the DARC has the significant advantage as the backfill material of sub-ballast layer because the rubber comes from the waste tires of truck and its usage can results a significant recycling of non-biodegradable wastes. After a preliminary mix-design of several DARCs, with different rubber content that confirmed by using the Marshall test, the stiffness modulus and damping ratio both of a standard bituminous mixture and of dry asphalt rubber concrete with a rubber content equal to 1.5% were determined using the four points bending device. The experimental results were compared and a numerical analysis by means of a 2D lumped mass model was developed in order to evaluate the different performance within the rail superstructure in terms both of the deflection and of the pressure on sub-grade. Both the results on the mechanical and dissipative properties of the DARC and the mechanical behavior of the correlate rail superstructure encourage the authors to continue the research on the application of such material for sub-ballast layers.

With the term "oncological screening", we define the overall performances made to detect early onset of tumors. These tests are conducted on a population that does not have any signs or symptoms related to a neoplasm. The whole population above a certain age, only one sex, only subjects with a high risk of developing cancer due to genetic, professional, discretionary reasons may be involved. Screening campaigns should be associated, when risk factors that can be avoided are known, with campaigns for the prevention of cancer by means of suitable behavior. The goal of cancer screening cannot however be limited to the diagnosis of a greater number of neoplasms. Screening will be useful only if it leads to a reduction in overall mortality or at least in mortality related to the tumor. Screening should then allow the diagnosis of the disease at a stage when there is a possibility of healing, possibility that is instead difficult when the disease is diagnosed at the appearance of signs or symptoms. This is the reason why not all campaigns of cancer screening have the same effectiveness. In Italy, every year there are about 150000 deaths due to cancer. Some of these tumors can be cured with a very high percentage of success if diagnosed in time. Cervical cancer can be diagnosed with non-invasive tests. The screening test used all over the world is Papanicolaou(Pap) test. This test may be carried out over the entire healthy population potentially exposed to the risk of contracting cancer. Public health has begun the screening campaigns in the hope of saving many of the approximately 270000 new cases of cancer reported each year. Screening is done following protocols that guarantee quality at the national level: these protocols are subject to change over time to reflect new realities or to correct any errors in the system. The distribution and accumulation of heavy metals in the surface sediment of Lake Junin National Reserve was evaluated using the pollution factor (CF), pollution load index (PLI) and geoaccumulation index (Igeo), during 2018. Surface sediment samples were collected from 10 sampling sites, with three repetitions, during the rainy and dry seasons. The heavy metals determined were Fe, Cu, Cr, Cd, Pb and Zn;As, was also determined. The results revealed the descending order of Fe > Cu > Zn > As > Pb > Cd > Cr concentrations recorded in the three sampling sectors. The values of the CF obtained for the metals qualified as low CF, in times of rain and low water. The CF values of Cd were qualified as moderate contamination factors at all sampling sites, except at LJ1 where it qualified as CF considerable. The PLI for Lake Junin ranged from 0.0721 to 0.3260. The Igeo obtained indicated that the sampling sites are not contaminated by the heavy metals under study. Therefore, the mean values for heavy metals and As did not exceed the reference values and sediment quality guidelines. In general terms, CF, PLI and Igeo indicate that there is no appreciable contamination by these metals in Lake Junin;except for Cd.

A pathophysiological relationship has been reported between inflammatory processes,decreased levels of neurotrophins,increased oxidative stress and psychiatric disorders in both juvenile and adult ***,this relationship remains unclear in juvenile bipolar disorder(BD).We performed a systematic literature review of studies reporting measurements of inflammatory markers,oxidative stress markers or neurotrophins in juvenile and young adult subjects with *** findings showed that inflammatory markers are increased since the earlier stages of BD.A positive correlation between decreased levels of a peripheral brain-derived neurotrophic factor and juvenile BD is controversial suggesting that those changes might occur only during the late stage of *** changes in central glutathione levels were reported in young adult age BD indicating that oxidative stress may be an outcome of long illness duration and repeated affective *** conclusion,preliminary findings indicate that a certain relationship exists between inflammatory process and juvenile BD but evidence are insufficient to support a causal *** powered and prospective studies are warranted to clarify the role of inflammation,neurotrophins and oxidative stress in juvenile BD.

One-week dual therapy with ranitidine bismuth citrate and clarithromycin for the treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection in Brazilian patients with peptic ulcer

AIM:To assess the efficacy and safety of ranitidine bismuth citrate plus clarithromycin given for 1 wk in Brazilian patients with peptic ulcer. METHODS: One hundred and twenty patients with peptic ulcer were randomized in two treatment groups: (1)1-wk regimen consisting of ranitidine bismuth citrate 400 mg b.i.d. with clarithromycin 500 mg b.i.d. or (2) 2-wk regimen of the same treatment. Eradication of the infection was considered when both the histologic examination and the urease test were negative for the infection 3 mo after treatment. RESULTS: By intention to treat analysis, Helicobacter pylori (H pylori) was eradicated in 73% and 76% of patients, respectively treated for 1 or 2 wk (P>0.05). By per protocol analysis, the eradication rates were 80% and 83%, respectively, in patients treated for 1 or 2 wk (P>0.05). Nine patients (8.2%) reported minor side effects. CONCLUSION: One-week therapy with ranitidine bismuth citrate and clarithromycin is safe, well tolerated and effective for treatment of H pylori infection, and appears to be comparable to the 2-wk regimen in terms of efficacy.x
