An Application of Generalized Entropy Optimization Methods in Survival Data Analysis

In this paper, survival data analysis is realized by applying Generalized Entropy Optimization Methods (GEOM). It is known that all statistical distributions can be obtained as distribution by choosing corresponding moment functions. However, Generalized Entropy Optimization Distributions (GEOD) in the form of distributions which are obtained on basis of Shannon measure and supplementary optimization with respect to characterizing moment functions, more exactly represent the given statistical data. For this reason, survival data analysis by GEOD acquires a new significance. In this research, the data of the life table for engine failure data (1980) is examined. The performances of GEOD are established by Chi-Square criteria, Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) criteria and Shannon entropy measure, Kullback-Leibler measure. Comparison of GEOD with each other in the different senses shows that along of these distributions (MinMaxEnt)4 is better in the senses of Shannon measure and of Kullback-Leibler measure. It is showed that, (MinMaxEnt)3 ((MaxMaxEnt)4) is more suitable for statistical data among (MinMaxEnt)m,m=1,2,3,4(MaxMaxEnt)m,m=1,2,3,4. Moreover, (MinMaxEnt)3 is better for statistical data than (MaxMaxEnt)4 in the sense of RMSE criteria. According to obtained distribution (MinMaxEnt)3 (MaxMaxEnt)4 estimator of Probability Density Function?f^?(t), Cumulative Distribution Functio?F^ (t) , Survival Function Ŝ(t) and Hazard Rate ĥ(t) are evaluated and graphically illustrated. The results are acquired by using statistical software MATLAB.

The cationic ring-opening polymerization of 1-azabicyclo[4.2.0]octane, commonly called conidine （1） was studied with some chiral tricyclic amino acid esters （6a-6f） as acylation agents to obtain optically active biopolymers （Sa-8f） of the different masses. The structures of the new compounds were confirmed by FT-IR, UV and NMR, and the distribution index of the molecular weights of the polymers was determined from SEC measurements.

A Solid Phase Extraction Application of Hybrid Nano B2O3/ZrO2 for Separation and Determination of Trace Indium in Environmental Samples

Hybrid nanomaterials have attracted considerable interest in environmental science,analytical chemistry and atomic *** the present study,a column solid phase extractioo procedure was developed for the separation and preconcentration of indium in various matrixes by using hybrid nanomaterial B_2O_3/ZrO_2(HNMBZ).Various experimental and analytical parameters such as sample solution pH,sample solution volume,flow rate of sample solution and eluent,volume and concentration of eluent aod amount of HNMBZ,effect of common matrix ions and capacity of sorbent were *** adsorbed metal ions on HNMBZ were eluted with 6mL of 1mol·L^(-1 )HNO_3solutions and their concentrations were determined by high-resolution continuum source flame atomic absorption spectrometry(HR-CS FAAS).Under the optimized conditions,detection limits for indium for 3pixels and 5pixels were found as 0.20and 0.16μg·L^(-1),*** accuracy of the procedure was checked by spiked water *** developed procedure was successfully applied to real samples for the separation and determination of indium.

Interest in preconcentration techniques for the determination of metals at ultratrace levels still continues increasingly because of some disadvantages of flameless atomic absorption spectrometry as well as the high costs of other sensitive methods in compared to flame atomic absorption *** this study,thiol-containing sulfonamide resin was synthesized,characterized and applied as a new sorption material for solid phase extraction of nickel in drinking water *** preconcentration procedure,flame atomic absorption spectrometry was used for *** parameters were found to be pH=3.2,contact time=20 min and eluate volume=3 *** limit of detection was found to be 0.75 ng·*** synthesized resin exhibits the superiority in compared to the other adsorption reagents because of the fact that there is no necessity of any complexing reagent,high sorption capacity as well as the relatively fast extraction *** Ni concentrations in the studied 21 kind of water samples were found to be in the range of BDL-4.0 ng·mL-1.

Robotic transoral vestibular parathyroidectomy:Two case reports and review of literature

Advances in preoperative localization studies and de-mands for scarless surgery have promoted the inves-tigation for remote techniques in parathyroid surgery. Transoral vestibular approach seems to provide the most comfortable and safest access to the neck. In this paper, we report our initial experience with robotic transoral ves-tibular parathyroidectomy(RTVP) in four patients with primary hyperparathyroidism. The surgery was perfor-med with the Da Vinci system through three trocars intro-duced from the lower lip vestibule. The procedure was converted to open in two patients due to inappropriate preoperative localization. The mean operative time was 169 min. No postoperative complications were seen. Patients were discharged on postoperative day 1. RTVP is a feasible and safe technique, which allows better surgical exposure and manipulation of the instruments. The advantages of transoral vestibular approach can be enhanced by robotics. Further studies are needed to analyze complications and costs.

Effects of resveratrol on hydrogen peroxide-induced oxidative stress in embryonic neural stem cells

Resveratrol, a natural phenolic compound, has been shown to prevent cardiovascular diseases and cancer and exhibit neuroprotective effects. In this study, we examined the neuroprotective and antJoxJdant effects of resveratrol against hydrogen peroxide in embryonic neural stem cells. Hydrogen peroxide treatment alone increased catalase and glutathione peroxidase activities but did not change superoxide dismutase levels compared with hydrogen peroxide ＋ resveratrol treatment. Nitric oxide synthase activity and concomitant nitric oxide levels increased in response to hydrogen peroxide treatment. Conversely, resveratrol treatment decreased nitric oxide synthase activity and nitric oxide levels. Resveratrol also attenuated hydrogen peroxide-induced nuclear or mitochondrial DNA damage. We propose that resveratrol may be a promising agent for protecting embryonic neural stem cells because of its potential to decrease oxidative stress by inducing higher activity of antioxidant enzymes, decreasing nitric oxide production and nitric oxide synthase activity, and alleviating both nuclear and mitochondrial DNA damage.

On Chlodowsky Variant of Baskakov Type Operators

In the present paper, we deal with Chlodowsky type generalization of the Baskakov operators, special case of these operators includes Chlodowsky type Meyer–K?nig and Zeller operators(see [21]). With the help of Bohman-Korovkin theorem,we obtain some approximation properties for these operators. We give a modification of the operators in the space of differentiable functions and we also present examples of graphs for approximation. Finally, we apply these operators to the solution of the differential equation.

Magnetic-porous microspheres with synergistic catalytic activity of small-sized gold nanoparticles and titania matrix

Fe3O4 nanoparticles immobilized on porous titania in micron-size range were decorated with smallsized gold nanoparticles and used as a plasmonic catalyst for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol. Monodisperse-porous magnetic titania microspheres were synthesized with bimodal pore-size distribution by the sol-gel templating method. Small-sized gold nanoparticles obtained by the Martin method were attached onto the aminated form of the magnetic titania microspheres. A significant enhancement in the catalytic activity was observed using the gold nanoparticle-decorated magnetic titania microspheres compared to gold nanoparticle-decorated magnetic silica microspheres because of the synergistic effect between small-sized gold nanoparticles and titania. The synergistic effect for gold nanoparticle-attached magnetic titania microspheres could be explained by surface plasmon resonance-induced transfer of hot electrons from gold nanoparticles to the conduction band of titania. Using the proposed catalyst, 4-nitrophenol could be converted to 4-aminophenol in an aqueous solution within 0.5 min. The 4-nitrophenol reduction rates were 2.5-79.3 times higher than those obtained with similar plasmonic catalysts. The selection of micron-size, magnetic, and porous titania microspheres as a support material for the immobilization of small-sized gold nanoparticles provided a recoverable plasmonic catalyst with high reduction ability.

Efficient Plant Regeneration with Arabinogalactan-Proteins on Various Ploidy Levels of Cereals

To determine the most effective dose of arabinogalactan-protein （AGP） in regeneration medium, mature embryos of genotypes in three different ploidy levels （Triticum aestivum L. cv. Ikizce-96, Triticum durum Desf. cv. Mirzabey and Hordeum vulgare L. cv. Tokak） were used to establish an efficient plant regeneration system for cereals. Percentage of callus production, capacity of regeneration were calculated, and also culture effect, root, stem, and total plant length of regenerant plants were observed in six different regeneration media （MS control, MS＋2, 5, 7, 10, 12 mg L-1 AGP） in these three different genotypes. According to the results, the highest amount of callus production was found in Ikizce-96 as 93.75% using 5 mg L-1 dicamba and 1 mg L-1 kinetin in induction medium. However, the most improved callus was observed in diploid barley Tokak as 179.95 mg in weight and 6.18 mm in diameter, respectively. The highest regeneration capacity was observed in the dose of 5 mg L-1 AGP in MS of all the genotypes and hexaploid wheat Ikizce-96 gave the best results with the highest regeneration capacity and culture effects （94.86 and 92.5%） in the same dose of AGE These results indicated that effective dose of AGP in regeneration medium increase plant regeneration in calli derived from cereal mature embryos.

Fabrication of Bioinspired Structured Superhydrophobic and Superoleophilic Copper Mesh for Efficient Oil-water Separation

Oily water treatment has attracted the attention of many researchers. The development of effective and cheap oil/water separation materials is urgent for treating this problem. Herein, inspired by superhydrophobic typical plant leaves such as lotus, red rose and marigold, superhydrophobic and superoleophilic copper mesh was fabricated by etching and then surface modi- fication with 1-dodecanethiol （HS（CH2）IlCH3）. A rough silver layer is formed on the mesh surface after immersion. The ob- tained mesh surface exhibits superhydrophobicity and superoleophilicity and the static water contact angle was 153~ ＋ 3~. In addition, the as-prepared copper mesh shows self-cleaning character with water and chemical stability. The as-prepared copper foam can easily remove the organic solvents either on water or underwater. We demonstrate that by using the as-prepared mesh, oils can be absorbed and separated, and that high separation efficiencies of larger than 92% are retained for various oils. Thus, such superhydrophobic and superoleophilic copper mesh is a very promising material for the application ofoil spill cleanup and industrial oily wastewater treatment.
