A reliable,efficient anther culture system,the dominant technique for generating haploid plants in breeding programs,that can be used for generating transgenic poplar plants has been *** the present study,therefore,an anther culture system was developed using isolated mid-and late-uninucleate anthers of poplar(Populus simonii x ***).From a combination of SSR and ploidy analyses,six double haploid and two haploid lines were characterized from 86 plants grown from 16 regenerated anther cultured *** 48 months of development,two plant lines from the regenerated plants maintained their haploid level in vitro for over 2 years.A number of haploid plants from the different lines weretransferred to *** leaves of these transplants were then used as explants for transformation with the APETALA1(AP1) gene using Agrobacterium *** of AP1 in haploid poplar induced early flowering with obvious petals when ectopically *** our knowledge,this is the first report on changes in flowering time in AP1-trangenic poplar,which is important for elucidating the regulatory mechanism of tree flower development.

The plasma membrane of cells is a crucial biological membrane that involved in a variety of cellular processes including cell signaling transduction through membrane electrical ***,monitoring membrane electrical activity using fluorescence imaging has attracted numerous attentions for its potential applications in evaluating how the nervous system ***,the development of ideal fluorescent voltage-sensitive probes with both high membrane labeling efficiency and voltage sensitivity is still retain a big ***,glutathionecapped CdSe@ZnS quantum dots (CdSe@ZnS-GSH QDs) with a size of 2.5 nm and an emission peak at 520 nm are synthesized using a facile ligand exchange method for plasma membrane labeling and membrane potential *** as-synthesized CdSe@ZnS-GSH QDs can effectively label cell membrane at neutral pH within 30 min and exhibit excellent optical stability in continuous imaging for up to 60 *** the test concentration up to 200 nM,CdSe@ZnS-GSH QDs show high biocompatibility to cells and do not affect cell proliferation,disturb cell membrane integrity or cause apoptosis and necrosis of ***,a two-component voltage sensor strategy based on fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) between CdSe@ZnS-GSH QDs and the dipicrylamine (DPA) is successfully developed to monitor the membrane potential by the fluorescence of CdSe@ZnS-GSH *** study offers a facile strategy for labeling plasma membrane and monitoring the membrane potential of cells and will hold great potential in the research of signaling within intact neuronal circuits.

Star sensor is an avionics instrument used toprovide the absolute 3-axis attitude of a spacecraft by utiliz-ing star observations. The key function is to recognize theobserved stars by comparing them with the reference cata-logue. Autonomous star pattern recognition requires thatsimilar patterns can be distinguished from each other with a small training set. Therefore, a new method based on neural network technology is proposed and a recognition systemcontaining parallel backpropagation (BP) multi-subnets isdesigned. The simulation results show that the method per-forms much better than traditional algorithms and the pro-posed system can achieve both higher recognition accuracyand faster recognition speed.

Drilling rig Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico, leased by BP PLC from Transocean Ltd., exploded and caught on fire on April 20, 2010. The drilling location is at some 50 miles （80 kilometers） off the coast of Louisiana, USA. The rig sank on April 22. Since then, oil has been pouring into the Gulf from the blown-out undersea well.

The endosperm plays essential roles in embryogenesis and seed germination and provides abundant resources for human food and industrial products. Identification of genes regulating the development of the endosperm and elucidation of their functions is of great importance for maize genetics and breeding. This study showed that the genespecific imprinted gene, ETHYLENE-INSENSITIVE 2-like(EIN2-like), is maternally expressed in both endosperm and embryo. The maternally expressed pattern was maintained throughout later seed developmental stages. Bisulfite sequencing using DNA obtained from hybrid endosperm tissues showed that the upstream regions of the alleles of EIN2-like were highly methylated at symmetrical sites(CG and CHG). A differentially methylated region in the upstream part of the maternal allele of EIN2-like was identified and found to be hypomethylated. Expression analysis showed that EIN2-like was highly expressed in the maize endosperm as well as at different stages of cell differentiation(8–12 days after pollination) in the hybrid endosperm. These results suggest that the maternally expressed gene EIN2-like may play crucial roles in the regulation of seed development.

Resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) spectra of N32S and N34S have been recorded in the range of 35700―40200 cm?1. The radical was generated by a pulsed dc discharge of a mixture of SF6 and N2 under a supersonic free jet condition. All the 16 observed bands of N32S radicals have been as-signed, among which 12 bands belong to three transition progressions (v'=0-4, 0), (v'=1-4, 1) and (v'=2-4, 2) from the X2Π ground state to the B'2Σ+ upper state and the rest correspond to (9, 0), (10, 0), (11, 0) and (12, 0) bands of B2Π-X2Π transition, respectively. Analysis of the rotationally resolved spectra yields exhaustive spectroscopic constants of both the X2Π ground state and the B'2Σ+ excited state. The electronic transition bands of the isotopic molecule N34S have been rotationally analyzed for the first time and the rotational constants of the ground and upper states have been determined simultaneously.

A Hierarchical Transactive Energy Management Framework for Optimizing the Reserve Profile in District Energy Systems

District energy systems(DESs)have become a popular form of satisfying comprehensive energy demands for different types of loads in multiple local *** DFISs,the operational flexibility could be maintained by energy conversion and storage *** paper proposes a hierarchical optimization framework for leveraging and aggregating the DES flexibility to provide contingency *** characterize and quantify the flexibility in individual DESs,the concept of available reserve profile,which is measured by a set of indices,is established.A two-stage robust optimization(RO)model is developed for calculating the indices,which considers the uncertainties associated with wind power and ambient *** lower stage of the two-stage model is managed by district energy system operators(DESOs)which submit reserve profiles to the district energy system coordinator(DESC)at the upper stage,which is responsible for the coordination ***,information privacy is preserved using a coordinated data-sharing *** reserve profiles submitted by multiple DESOs,the DESC applies the proposed coordination model to provide a certain reserve capacity schedule to DESs,which satisfies the stated *** coordination model is formulated and solved based on the special ordered set(SOS)technique and particle swarm optimization(PSO)algorithm.A test system is developed to illustrate the technical viability and economic feasibility of the proposed technique.
