Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) is responsible for a significant number of cancer-related deaths worldwide and its incidence is increasing. Locoregional treatments, which are precision procedures guided by imaging to specifically target liver tumors, play a critical role in the management of a substantial portion of HCC cases. These therapies have become an essential element of the HCC treatment landscape, with transarterial chemoembolization(TACE)being the treatment of choice for patients with intermediate to advanced stages of the disease. Other locoregional therapies, like radiofrequency ablation, are highly effective for small, early-stage HCC. Nevertheless, the advent of targeted immunotherapy has challenged these established treatments. Tyrosine kinase inhibitors(TKIs) and immune checkpoint inhibitors(ICIs) have shown remarkable efficacy in clinical settings. However, their specific uses and the development of resistance in subsequent treatments have led clinicians to reevaluate the future direction of HCC therapy. This review concentrates on the distinct features of both systemic and novel locoregional therapies. We investigate their effects on the tumor microenvironment at the molecular level and discuss how targeted immunotherapy can be effectively integrated with locoregional therapies. We also examine research findings from retrospective studies and randomized controlled trials on various combined treatment regimens, assessing their validity to determine the future evolution of locoregional therapies within the framework of personalized, comprehensive treatment.

Deterioration Reason and Improvement Measure of the Retarding Effect of Protein Retarder on Phosphorus Building Gypsum

The retarding effect of protein retarder on phosphorus building gypsum(PBG)and desulfurization building gypsum(DBG)was investigated,and the results show that protein retarder for DBG can effectively prolong the setting time and displays a better retarding effect,but for PBG shows a poor retarding effect.Furthermore,the deterioration reason of the retarding effect of protein retarder on PBG was investigated by measuring the pH value and the retarder concentration of the liquid phase from vacuum filtration of PBG slurry at different hydration time,and the measure to improve the retarding effect of protein retarding on PBG was suggested.The pH value of PBG slurry(<5.0)is lower than that of DBG slurry(7.8-8.5).After hydration for 5 min,the concentration of retarder in liquid phase of DBG slurry gradually decreases,but in liquid phase of PBG slurry continually increases,which results in the worse retarding effect of protein retarder on PBG.The liquid phase pH value of PBG slurry can be adjusted higher by sodium silicate,which is beneficial to improvement in the retarding effect of the retarder.By adding 1.0%of sodium silicate,the initial setting time of PBG was efficiently prolonged from 17 to 210 min,but little effect on the absolute dry flexural strength was observed.

Fecal metabolomics reveals the positive effect of ethanol extract of propolis on T2DM mice

A large number of studies have shown that propolis has positive effects in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).However,there are have only been a few reports that are based on an ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole-time-of-flight-mass spectrometry(UPLC-Q-TOF-MS)analysis of the fecal metabolomics of ethanol extract of propolis(EEP)in the treatment of T2DM.The present investigation was designed to screen potential biomarkers of T2DM by the metabonomic method and to explain the possible anti-diabetes mechanism of EEP according to the changes in the biomarkers.The results showed that EEP improved the body weight(BW)of T2DM mice,lowered blood sugar levels,and significantly restored blood biochemical indicators related to T2DM,such as fasting insulin(FINS),homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance(HOMA-IR),aspartate transaminase(AST),and alanine aminotransferase(ALT).Liver pathology showed that EEP reversed liver damage caused by T2DM.Metabolomics data identified 27 potential biomarkers in fecal samples.EEP effectively regulated the dysfunction in the metabolic pathways of glycerophospholipids,sphingolipids,riboflavins,and sterol lipids caused by T2DM.In summary,our research results revealed positive effects of EEP in the treatment of T2DM and provided potential candidate markers for further research and in the clinical treatment of T2DM.

Five-year warming does not change soil organic carbon stock but alters its chemical composition in an alpine peatland

Climate warming may promote soil organic carbon(SOC)decomposition and alter SOC stocks in terrestrial ecosystems,which would in turn affect climate warming.We manipulated a warming experiment using open-top chambers to investigate the effect of warming on SOC stock and chemical composition in an alpine peatland in Zoigêon the eastern Tibetan Plateau,China.Results showed that 5 years of warming soil temperatures enhanced ecosystem respiration during the growing season,promoted above-and belowground plant biomass,but did not alter the SOC stock.However,labile O-alkyl C and relatively recalcitrant aromatic C contents decreased,and alkyl C content increased.Warming also increased the amount of SOC stored in the silt-clay fraction(0.25 mm,respectively).These changes in labile and recalcitrant C were largely associated with warming-induced increases in soil microbial biomass C,fungal diversity,enzyme activity,and functional gene abundance related to the decomposition of labile and recalcitrant C compounds.The warming-induced accumulation of SOC stored in the silt-clay fraction could increase SOC persistence in alpine peatland ecosystems.Our findings suggest that mechanisms mediated by soil microbes account for the changes in SOC chemical composition and SOC in different aggregate size fractions,which is of great significance when evaluating SOC stability under climate warming conditions.

Effects of soil rock fragment content on the USLE-K factor estimating and its influencing factors

Rock fragments are an important component of soil,and their presence has a significant impact on soil erosion and sediment yield.In this paper,the effects of rock fragments in the topsoil profile(RFP)and rock fragments on the soil surface(RFS)on the soil erodibility factor(K)were assessed at a global scale.The spatial pattern of the relationship between stoniness and erodibility(RS-K)and its predominant factors were explored through correlation analysis,pattern analysis,and random forest model analysis.The results were as followings:(1)The existence of RFP increased K by 2.84%.The RFS of the mountain land and desert/Gobi reduced K by 18.7%;therefore,once the RFP and RFS were taken into account in the calculation,K was 6.98%lower.(2)The predominant factors of the effect of RFS and the joint effect of RFP and RFS were elevation and slope gradient.The predominant factors of the effect of RFP were annual average precipitation and annual average temperature.(3)In assessing and mapping soil erosion in large regions,special attention should be given to areas with large rock fragment contents,a relatively high altitude,and the presence of steep slope.If rock fragments were not taken into consideration,the mapping results of soil erosion may be biased.This article made the calculation of K more complete and accurate,thereby improving the accuracy of regional soil erosion estimation.This research was of sig-nificance for the investigation of global hydrological effects and simulation of the global soil carbon budget.

More frequent extreme rainfall events associated with global climate change cause greater challenges for soil conservation.Severe erosion occurs on many unpaved roads since these structures create important water flow paths during heavy storms.The present research aimed to investigate the intensity and influencing factors of unpaved road erosion under varied land use and management conditions(sloping cropland,terraced cropland,forest&grass).The erosion occurred in the watersheds contributing runoff water to roads after the greatest rainfall event recorded in the mountain area of northern China caused by Typhon Lekima.The research was conducted in an agricultural-forest-dominated watershed based on field investigation and UAV-based image analysis.A road erosion level classification standard was given according to the occurrence of rills,ephemeral gullies,and gullies.Significant erosion happened on 67% of the unpaved roads;42% of them suffered moderate to severe erosion in which ephemeral gullies or gullies developed.The average erosion amount from these roads was 2280.75 t ha-1 and was significantly influenced by the watershed land use type and management.The dominant factor governing unpaved road erosion associated with terraced cropland was vegetation coverage on roads.Drainage area was the most important factor for road erosion in sloping cropland and forest&grass land,and road gradient was also a critical factor.Terraces,and forest&grass in drainage areas significantly reduced unpaved road erosion by 85%and,47%,respectively,compared to sloping cropland.More integrated measures should be used to prevent unpaved road erosion.The results of this research can be applied to road protection against erosion in heavy storms.

Tannic acid coated single-wall carbon nanotube membranes for the recovery of Au from trace-level solutions

The efficient recovery of gold from industrial sewage is important for saving precious metals and remains a big challenge.We report the extraction of gold ions from a trace-level aqueous solution using a tannic acid(TA)coated single-wall carbon nanotube(SWCNT)film.The TA has many redox ligands that efficiently adsorb Au(III)from the solution and reduce them to Au particles.The interwoven SWCNTs not only act as a framework to improve the mechanical stability of the hybrid membrane,but also provide abundant paths for H_(2)O transport,and facilitate the full exposure of the TA.As a result,the hybrid membrane has an excellent ability to capture gold ions from solution with a high flux of 157 L/(m^(2)·h·bar),and an ultra-high adsorption capacity of 2095 mg/g from solutions with an extremely low gold concentration of 20 ppm.The adsorbed gold ions are reduced to Au particles,which can be easily collected by oxidation.The recovered Au nanoparticles on the TA–SWCNT hybrid film had a remarkable surface-enhanced Raman scattering effect that enabled the sensitive detection of rhodamine 6G.

目前在带钢表面缺陷检测领域,通用的目标检测算法复杂度高、计算量庞大,而一些中小型企业负责检测的终端设备通常不具备较强的计算能力,计算资源有限,从而导致检测算法部署困难。为解决该问题,基于YOLOv8n目标检测框架,提出一种轻量级的带钢表面缺陷检测模型YOLOv8-VSC。该模型使用轻量级的VanillaNet网络作为骨干特征提取网络,通过减少不必要的分支结构降低模型的复杂度。同时,引入SPD模块在减少网络层数的同时加快模型的推理速度。为了进一步提升检测精度,在特征融合网络中,使用轻量级的上采样算子CARAFE,提高融合特征的质量和丰富度。最后,在NEU-DET数据集上进行大量实验,得到模型的参数量与计算量为1.96×106和6.0 GFLOPs,仅为基线的65.1%和74.1%,mAP达到80.8%,较基线提升1.8个百分点。此外,在铝材表面缺陷数据集和VOC2012数据集上的实验结果表明所提算法具有良好的鲁棒性。与先进的目标检测算法相比,所提算法在保证高检测精度的前提下需要的计算资源更少。

Polycomb chromobox Cbx2 enhances antiviral innate immunity by promoting Jmjd3-mediated demethylation of H3K27 at the Ifnb promoter

Polycomb chromobox(CBX)proteins regulate gene transcription by maintaining chromatin states,which guide a variety of biological processes.Now,epigenetic regulation of innate immune response is an emerging field.However,the role of CBX proteins in innate immunity remains unclear.We confirmed that the expression of CBX family proteins,especially Cbx2,was decreased in macrophages upon viral infection,and then we investigated the role of Cbx2 in the antiviral immune response.Silencing or knockdown of Cbx2 in macrophages inhibited virus-induced production of IFNp.Furthermore,heterozygous Cbx2 knockout were susceptible to VSV challenge.Mechanistically,Cbx2 binds to and recruits Jmjd3 to the Ifnb promoter,leading to demethylation of H3K27me3 and increased transcription of IFN-β.Together,our study reveals a nontraditional function of a Cbx protein and adds new insight into the epigenetic regulation of antiviral innate immunity.
