Wound abnormalities such as secondary wound laceration and inflammation are common postoperative health hazards during clinical *** continuous treatment,healing induction,and real-time visualization of wound status and complications,including wound re-tearing,inflammation,and morphology,are key focal points for comprehensive ***,an on-demand quadruple energy dissipative strategy was proposed for the nanoengineering of a physically and chemically synergistic double-layer gelatin-based bio-adhesive(DLGel)by combining a multi-network adhesive layer and a versatile electroactive energy dissipative layer based on contrivable interlocking micro-pillar arrays and crosslinked polymer *** subtly multiple energy dissipation designs enable DLGel with robust adhesive strength to omnipotently wet and dynamic tissue,providing a basis for reliable wound *** achieves comprehensive wound-healing induction through electrical stimulation and possesses reversible underwater light/thermal adhesion,excellent hemostatic performance,outstanding antimicrobial properties,and self-repair ***,a novel deep-learning strategy is creatively established to respond to mechanical deformation due to wound *** strategy translates biological information into visual graphics,providing real-time early warning and assessment of postoperative wound-abnormality/-morphology,such as laceration,inflammation,and ***,DLGel and its associated signal collection and processing protocol enable the integration of reliable wound closure,wound healing,and real-time postoperative wound-status warning and assessment within the unobservable and undetectable“black box”regions in a context of non-clinical comprehensive therapy.

Effects of Boundary Conditions on the Design of Anti-Ram Bollards

Anti-ram bollards used in perimeter protection are tested to meet performance requirements of established standards such as the US Department of State Specification SD-STD-02.01. Under these standards, tests are conducted in prescribed conditions that should be representative of the service installation. In actual project, conditions encountered on site may vary from the test environment and it would be expensive and time consuming to validate each deviation with a physical test. High-fidelity physics-based (HFPB) finite element modeling can provide precise simulations of the behavior of anti-ram bollards. This paper presents the use of HFPB finite element modeling, using LS-DYNA, in an actual project to evaluate the performance of an anti-ram bollard design subjected to various boundary conditions representing the physical conditions encountered on site. The study shows that boundary conditions can have a significant influence on the performance of the anti-ram bollards. This suggests that anti-ram bollards must be designed and engineered according to actual conditions that are found on site. It also shows that HFPB modeling can be an effective tool that supplements physical testing of anti-ram bollards.

After decades of low year classes,the stock of Japanese sardine(Sardinops melanostictus)has begun to recover since the *** hatch dates and otolith growth rates of age-0 juvenile sardine,which were collected in the subarctic Oyashio waters in autumn 2018,were determined from an otolith microstructure *** sardines were hatched from late January to late April,while mostly in February and *** otolith growth rate increased continuously up to 60 d after hatching and thereafter *** revealed growth rate in a crucial growth period is faster than that reported for juvenile sardines collected in the 1990s,which is coincided with the recent recovery trend of the sardine *** groups with different hatch dates,growth histories,and migration routes were identified using unsupervised random forest clustering *** were considered inshore and offshore migration individuals in accordance with recent *** the offshore group,a high proportion of sardine juveniles hatched late and grew faster in the Kuroshio-Oyashio transitional waters,a finding consistent with the hypothesis of growth-rate-dependent *** finding on the population composition and growth rate of juvenile sardine in the Oyashio waters can be a basis for an improved prediction of their survival and provides us with valuable information on the recruitment processes of this stock during the period of stock recovery.

An explosive blast mitigation alternative has increased the safety of structures by using " catcher" systems. These systems " catch" or repel the failure of the window or in-fill wall pro-tecting life and property from ballistic shards or fragments. They can be designed to be stand-alone in new construction and structural retrofits or used to augment structural hardening tech-niques. Cables, fabrics, and thin gauge sheet steel are examples of catcher systems used in the past. A new and evolving category of catcher systems are based on polymeric materials that can be used for both wall and window upgrades. These products are a proven blast mitigation concept and K&C Protective Technologies Pte Ltd (KCPT) together with Sherwin-Williams(SW) use KCPT′s blast engineering capacity and SW′s material engineering principles to create engineered systems for even greater in-use performance.

Despite their importance as components for flexible electronics,most stretchable hydrogels suffer from incomplete recovery after deformation,are prone to failure upon long-term repeated stretching,and cannot be exploited at subzero temperatures because of the freezing of their constituent ***-quently,strategies for circumventing these drawbacks are highly sought *** study describes the synthesis of a doubly(chemically and physically)crosslinked hydrogel from gelatin and methacrylic acid and demonstrates the suitability of this material for the fabrication of high-performance stretchable and environment-resistant supercapacitors and strain *** performance of this supercapacitor(areal capacitance=1,210.2 mF/cm^(2) at a current density of 1 mA/cm^(2),maximum energy density=158.8μW.h/cm^(-1),maximum power density=659.5μW/cm^(2))was superior to that of most of integrated super-capacitors reported to date and was hardly affected by stretchable,low temperatures,bending,ice-cold water and strong acid/alkali solutions or long-term ***,a strain sensor based on the above hydrogel was capable of accurately capturing human body motions when affixed to skin and recognising mouse movement(even in humid environments)after implantation into mouse *** work may pave the way to high-performance stretchable and environment-resistant wearable electronics.

Workability and Strength of Ceramsite Self-Compacting Concrete with Steel Slag Sand

This study focuses on the workability and compressive strength of ceramsite self-compacting concrete with fine aggregate partially substituted by steel slag sand(CSLSCC)to prevent the pollution of steel slag in the *** SF,J-ring,visual stability index,and sieve analysis tests are primarily employed in this research to investigate the workability of freshly mixed self-compacting concrete containing steel slag at various steel slag sand replacement *** experiment results indicate that CSLSCC with the 20%volume percentage of steel slag(VPS)performs better workability,higher strength,and higher specific *** 7-day compressive strength of CSLSCC with the 0.4 of the water-binder ratio(W/B),decreases with the increase of steel slag content,while the 28-day compressive strength increases *** ceramsite self-compacting concrete with good comprehensive performance can be obtained when the substitution rate of steel slag sand for fine aggregate is less than 20%(volume percentage).

Community structure of mesopelagic fauna and the length-weight relationships of three common fishes in the Cosmonaut Sea,Southern Ocean

This study used specimens of marine organisms caught by rectangular midwater trawl in the Cosmonaut Sea,Southern Ocean,in austral summer 2019/2020,to determine species composition and spatial distributions of mesopelagic fauna in this *** data were also used to calculate the length-weight relationships of three common fishes captured during the survey(Electrona antarctica,Bathylagus antarcticus,and Cyclothone microdon).A total of 385 individual organisms with a total weight of 15462.2 g and representing 17 species were collected across the 11 stations *** small-sized crown jellyfish Atolla wyvillei(order Coronatae)was the most-dominant species by number(96 individuals),and the zooplankton Cyllopus lucasii(Amphipoda)also showed high abundance(54 individuals).Among fishes,81 individuals of Notolepis coatsorum(Paralepididae)were caught,followed by 71 individuals of ***(Myctophidae),25 individuals of ***(Bathylagidae),and 16 individuals of ***(Gonostomatidae).Clustering analysis divided the mesopelagic community into“west”and“east”groups,and a greater number of individuals were collected in the western part of the *** length-weight relationships of the three common fishes revealed positive allometric growth for ***(b=3.16),and negative allometric growth for *** and ***(both b=2.53).Our descriptions of the mesopelagic-zone community structure and biological features of three common fishes provide basic information on the ecology of the Cosmonaut Sea,Southern Ocean,and will be useful for ecosystem-based fisheries management in this region.
