Due to safety concerns and habitat restoration for landlocked salmon,a 13-m high check dam on Chijiawan Creek was removed in late May 2011 in *** conducted experiments to understand channel evolution of different *** further compared our experimental results of riverbed elevation changes with the analytical solutions derived from the diffusion equation and field dynamics as well after the creek experienced the first flood *** results indicated that magnitude of discharges and notch size are dominant factors in resulting channel *** the largest differences between grain size distribution are associated with discharge,the largest differences in net change in upstream volume are associated with notch *** the theoretical equation could help understand the channel change after dam removal,it only explained the evolution closer to the *** physical experiments,on the other hand,provided insights especially with regard to comparing alternative proposed management *** discrepancies between predicted and actual outcome highlight more needed inputs for future dam-removal assessments.

This paper proposes a human body motion capturing system using the depth images. It consists of three processes to estimate the human pose parameters. First, we develop a pixel-based body part classifier to segment the human silhouette into different body part sub-regions and extract the primary joints. Second, we convert the distribution of the joints to the feature vector and apply the regression forest to estimate human pose parameters. Third, we apply the temporal constraints mechanism to find the best human pose parameter with the minimum estimation error. In experiments, we show that our system can operate in real-time with sufficient accuracy.

Piezoelectric nanogenerators(PENGs)and triboelectric nanogenerators(TENGs)are representative technologies that can harvest mechanical *** general,piezoelectric/triboelectric hybrid generators can harvest considerable energy with a limited input;however,PENGs and TENGs entail different requirements for harvesting ***,PENGs produce a large output when a large mechanical strain is applied,and TENGs require a large surface area to produce a high ***,it is necessary to develop an innovative strategy in terms of the structural design to satisfy the requirements of both PENGs and *** this study,we developed a triangulated cylinder origami-based piezoelectric/triboelectric hybrid generator(TCOHG)with an origami structure to enable effective energy *** proposed structure consists of a vertical contactseparation TENG on the surface of the triangulated cylinder,PENG on the inner hinge,and rotational TENG on the top substrate to harvest mechanical energy from each *** generator could produce a separate electrical output with a single *** TCO-HG could charge a 22μF commercial capacitor and power 60 LEDs when operated.

This paper proposes a dynamic-decision-based realtime dispatch method to coordinate the economic objective with multiple types of security dispatch objectives while reducing constraint violations in the process of adjusting the system operation point to the *** each decision moment,the following tasks are executed in turn:①locally linearizing the system model at the current operation point with the online model identification by using measurements;②narrowing down the gaps between unsatisfied security requirements and their security thresholds in order of priority;③minimizing the generation cost;④minimizing the security indicators within their security *** with the existing real-time dispatch strategies,the proposed method can adjust the deviations caused by unpredictable power flow fluctuations,avoid dispatch bias caused by model parameter errors,and reduce the constraint violations in the dispatch decision *** effectiveness of the proposed method is verified with the IEEE 39-bus system.

Gold nanoparticles decorating the surface of multiwalled carbon nanotubes （MWCNTs） are prepared by photochemical reduction. The gold clusters form different interesting geometrical faceted shapes in accordance to time duration of synchrotron X-ray irradiation. The shape of nanogold could be spherical, rod-like, or triangular. Carbon nanotubes serve as optimal templates for the heterogeneous nucleation of gold nanocrystals. These nanocrystal structures are characterized by transmission electron microscope （TEM） and element analysis by energy dispersive spectroscopy （EDS）. 2007 Chinese Society of Particuology and Institute of Process Engineering,Chinese Academy of Sciences. Various tungsten oxide-based nanomaterials have been prepared by a modified plasma arc gas condensation technique without the use of catalysts or substrates. These products could be obtained by controlling the processing parameters during experiment. All the as-obtained samples were characterized by field emission gun scanning electron microscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, and X- ray diffraction techniques. The results revealed that as-prepared tungsten oxide nanomaterials （WO3, W190s5 and WsO14） with different phases and morphologies could be obtained by decreasing the oxygen content in the chamber. In addition, W18049 nanotubes and nanorod bundles were fabricated by con- trolling the Ar/O2 ratio under He plasma gas. W18Q9/TiO2 core-shell nanoparticles were also prepared by evaporating a dual target. The experimental results showed that the present technique is unique and feasible for the fabrication of nanomaterials for use in different applications.

Eocene magmatism(Maden Complex) in the Southeast Anatolian Orogenic Belt: Magma genesis and tectonic implications

The origin and geodynamic setting of the Maden Complex, which is situated in the Bitlis-Zagros Suture Zone in the Southeast Anatolian Orogenic Belt, is still controversial due to lack of systematic geological and geochemical data. Here we present new whole rock major-trace-rare earth element and Sre Nd isotope data from the Middle Eocene volcanic rocks exposed in Maden Complex and discuss their origin in the light of new and old data. The volcanic lithologies are represented mainly by basalt and andesite, and minor dacite that vary from low-K tholeiitic, calc-alkaline, high-K calc-alkaline, and shoshonitic in composition. They exhibit enrichments in large ion lithophile and light rare earth elements, with depletions in high field strength elements. Basaltic rocks have uniform Sr and Nd isotope ratios with high εNd(t) values varying from t5.5 to t6.7, in contrast to, andesitic rocks are characterized by low εNd(t) values ranging from à1.6 to à10. These geochemical and isotopic characteristics indicate that two end-members, a subduction-related mantle source and a continental crust, were involved in the magma genesis. Considering all geological and geochemical data, we suggest that the Eocene Maden magmatism occurred as a post-collisional product by asthenospheric upwelling owing to convective removal of the lithosphere during an extensional collapse of the Southeast Anatolian ranges.

Acinetobacter baumannii(A. baumannii) is undoubtedly one of the most successful pathogens in the modern healthcare system. With invasive procedures, antibiotic use and immunocompromised hosts increasing in recent years, A. baumannii has become endemic in hospitals due to its versatile genetic machinery, which allows it to quickly evolve resistance factors, and to its remarkable ability to tolerate harsh environments. Infections and outbreaks caused by multidrugresistant A. baumannii(MDRAB) are prevalent and have been reported worldwide over the past twenty or more years. To address this problem effectively, knowledge of species identification, typing methods, clinical manifestations, risk factors, and virulence factors is essential. The global epidemiology of MDRAB is monitored by persistent surveillance programs. Because few effective antibiotics are available, clinicians often face serious challenges when treating patients with MDRAB. Therefore, a deep understanding of the resistance mechanisms used by MDRAB can shed light on two possible strategies to combat the dissemination of antimicrobial resistance: stringent infection control and antibiotic treatments, of which colistin-based combination therapy is the mainstream strategy. However, due to the current unsatisfying therapeutic outcomes, there is a great need to develop and evaluate the efficacy of new antibiotics and to understand the role of other potential alternatives, such as antimicrobial peptides, in the treatment of MDRAB infections.

Benefits of the Seattle biopsy protocol in the diagnosis of Barrett's esophagus in a Chinese population

AIMTo investigate the benefits of the Seattle protocol in the diagnosis of Chinese individuals with Barrett’s *** enrolled were patients from one center with endoscopically-suspected esophageal metaplasia. These patients first received narrow-band imaging-targeted biopsy, and later, the Seattle protocol-guided biopsy, within a period from October 2012 to December 2014. Those cases without initial pathologic patterns of intestinal metaplasia （IM） and then appearance or loss of IM tissue were designated as Group A or B, respectively. Those with initial pathologic patterns ofIM, which then persisted or were lost were designated as Group C or D, *** number of cases for each group was as follows： A： 20, B： 78, C： 31 and D： 14. The distribution of the Prague criteria M levels of Group A was significantly higher than Group B （ P = 0.174）. Among these groups, Group C had the highest proportions of hiatus hernia （54.8%）, long segment Barrett’s esophagus （29%）, and also the highest Prague criteria M levels. The sensitivity of IM detection was 69.2% for the narrow-band imaging-targeted biopsy and 78.5% for the Lee SW et al . Seattle protocol for Barrett’s esophagusSeattle protocol-guided biopsy. The difference was not signifcant （P = 0.231）. The number of detectable dysplasias increased from one case via the NBI-target biopsy to five cases via the Seattle protocol-guided biopsy, including one case of *** Seattle protocol improved the IM detection in our subjects with higher Prague criteria M levels and disclosed more cases with dysplastic tissues.
