In order to improve the machining efficiency of ultrasonic milling,the easiest and most effective approach was started with the improvement of tool *** main objective of this research was to utilize rotary ultrasonic machining (RUM's) effectiveness in removing brittle materials to extend the applications of this independent,innovative manufacturing method (self-driving rotary ultrasonic machining),and to experimentally investigate its milling application on brittle *** designed tool was used in the conjunction with previously established RUM machine tools,and glass was selected as workpiece for *** interrelationship between feed rate and depth of cut was *** measuring the surface roughness of workpiece,the overall efficacy of utilizing RUM for milling was evaluated and *** assisted milling results in the reduction of milling resistance,which leads to a greater process rate.

Time domain reflectometry（TDR） is a measurement technique based upon transmission line theory. The solutions of transmission line equations are reformulated in terms of independent physical properties, instead of coupled per-unit-length circuit parameters. The complete TDR response is effectively modeled by a non-uniform transmission line using the non-recursive ABCD matrix approach. Approaches to calibrate line parameters and perform TDR measurements based upon such model are introduced with an example on dielectric spectroscopy. TDR modeling in terms of decoupled physical parameters and non-recursive algorithm allows more convenient calibration of line parameters and facilitates interpretation of TDR measurements.

The wave energy resource around the coasts of Taiwan is investigated with wave buoy data covering a 3-year period （2007-2009）. Eleven study sites within the region bounded by the 21.5^°N-25.5°N latitudes and 118°E-122°E longitudes are selected for analysis. The monthly moving-average filter is used to obtain the low-frequency trend based on the available hourly data. After quantifying the wave power and annual wave energy, the substantial resource is the result of Penghu buoy station, which is at the northeastern side of Penghu Island in the Taiwan Strait. it is investigated that the Penghu sea area is determined to be the optimal place for wave energy production according to its abundant resource of northeasterly monsoon waves, sheltering of the Taiwan Island, operation and maintenance in terms of seasonal conditions, and constructability of wave power devices.

A machine vision for assessing and inspecting the ratio of thread areas associated with fixed frequency (FF) and limited tracing frequency (LTF) ultrasonic-assisted vibration was presented using differently coated taps after tapping of Ti-6Al-4V *** results indicate that TiAlN Micran taps yield the best tapping quality for different coatings and tapping *** Micran coated taps with LTF make the largest improvement over traditional tapping (TT),with an average increase of 30.2%.

Human Action Recognition Based on Dense Trajectories Analysis and Random Forest

This paper presents a human action recognition method. It analyzes the spatio-temporal grids along the dense trajectories and generates the histogram of oriented gradients （HOG） and histogram of optical flow （HOF） to describe the appearance and motion of the human object. Then, HOG combined with HOF is converted to bag-of-words （BoWs） by the vocabulary tree. Finally, it applies random forest to recognize the type of human action. In the experiments, KTH database and URADL database are tested for the performance evaluation. Comparing with the other approaches, we show that our approach has a better performance for the action videos with high inter-class and low inter-class variabilities.

This paper presents a handheld 3D vision-based scanner for small objects by using Kinect. It is different from the previous color-glove-based approaches which require segmenting the target object. First, we eliminate the noises and the outliers caused by holding hands. Second, we apply Kinect-fusion algorithm and truncated signed distance function （TSDF） to represent 3D surfaces. Third, we propose a modified integration strategy to eliminate the hand effect. Fourth, we take advantage of the parallel computation of GPUs for real-time operation. The major contributions of this paper are （1） the registration precision is improved, （2） the oflline amendment and loop closure operation are not required, and （3） concave 3D object reconstruction is feasible.

Chinese rice wine making is a typical simultaneous saccharification and fermentation （SSF） process. During the fermentation process, temperature is one of the key parameters which decide the quality of Chinese rice wine. To optimize the SSF process for Chinese rice wine brewing, the effects of temperature on the kinetic parameters of yeast growth and ethanol production at various temperatures were determined in batch cultures using a mathematical model. The kinetic parameters as a function of temperature were evaluated using the software Origin8.0. Combing these functions with the mathematical model, an appropriate form of the model equations for the SSF considering the effects of temperature were developed. The kinetic parameters were found to fit the experimental data satisfactorily with the developed temperature-dependent model. The temperature profile for maximizing the ethanol production for rice wine fermentation was determined by genetic algorithm. The optimum temperature profile began at a low temperature of 26℃ up to 30 h. The operating temperature increased rapidly to 31.9 ℃, and then decreased slowly to 18℃ at 65 h. Thereafter, the temperature was maintained at 18 ℃ until the end of fermentation. A maximum ethanol production of 89.3 g.L 1 was attained. Conceivably, our model would facilitate the improvement of Chinese rice wine production at the industrial scale.
