Wearable pressure sensors having versatile device structures have been extensively investigated to achieve high sensitivity under mechanical ***,we introduce piezoelectric pressure sensors based on fabrics woven using polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF)weft and polyethylene terephthalate(PET)warp yarns with different weave structures:1/1(plain),2/2,and 3/3 weft rib *** dependence of the pressure-sensing performance on the weave pattern is demonstrated with an actual large-scale fabric up to the~2 m *** optimized pressure sensor with a 2/2 weft rib pattern produced a high sensitivity of 83 mV N−1,which was 245%higher than that of the 1/1 *** detection performance of the optimal fabric was extensively evaluated with a variety of ambient input sources,such as pressing,bending,twisting,and crumpling,as well as various human ***,a large allfabric pressure sensor with arrayed touch pixel units demonstrated highly sensitive and stable sensing performance.

The influence of the hole length-to-diameter ratio on film-cooling performance is numerically investigated for a cylindrical hole and laidback fan-shaped hole with an inlet *** analysis of film-cooling is conducted by solving three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations(RANS)with a Realizable k-ε turbulence *** and triangular grooves are applied to the inlet of cylindrical and laidback fan-shaped *** ratio of the hole length(L) to the diameter(D),i.e.,L/D,is varied between 6-12 at blowing ratios(M) of 0.5 to 1.5 for the cylindrical hole and 0.5 to 3.0 for the laidback fan-shaped *** cylindrical holes with an inlet groove,the film-cooling effectiveness decreases as the L/D increases,regardless of the blowing ***,in the case of laidback fan-shaped holes,the cooling performance with the length-to-diameter ratios shows different tendencies for each blowing *** low blowing ratios(M=1.0),relatively high effects were observed with more than 5% increases in the effectiveness at L/D=10 and 12 compared to that of L/D=***,the performance is maximized at L/D=8 under high-blowing-ratio conditions(M=3.0).The cooling efficiency is enhanced up to 148% for square grooves and 124% for triangle grooves compared to those of L/D=6.

Background:Immune checkpoint inhibitors(ICIs)are effective in a subset of patients with metastatic solid ***,the patients who would benefit most from ICIs in biliary tract cancer(BTC)are still *** and methods:We molecularly characterized tissues and blood from 32 patients with metastatic BTC treated with the ICI pembrolizumab as second-line ***:All patients had microsatellite stable(MSS)type *** of the 32 patients achieved partial response(PR),with an objective response rate(ORR)of 9.4%(95%confidence interval[CI],2.0–25.2)and nine showed stable disease(SD),exhibiting a disease control rate(DCR)of 37.5%(95%CI,21.1–56.3).For the 31 patients who had access to PD-1 ligand 1(PD-L1)combined positive score(CPS)testing(cut-off value≥1%),the ORR was not different between those who had PD-L1-positive(PD-L1+;1/11,9.1%)and PDL1-(2/20,10.0%)tumors(p=1.000).The tumor mutational burden(TMB)of PD-L1+BTC was comparable to that of PD-L1-BTC(p=0.630).TMB and any exonic somatic mutations were also not predictive of pembrolizumab *** analysis of blood and tumor samples demonstrated a relatively high natural killer(NK)cell proportion in the peripheral blood before pembrolizumab treatment in patients who achieved tumor ***,the tumors of these patients presented high enrichment scores for NK cells,antitumor cytokines,and Th1 signatures,and a low enrichment score for cancer-associated ***:This study shows the molecular characteristics associated with the efficacy of pembrolizumab in BTC of the MSS type.

Streptococcus mutans(S. mutans), a major aetiologic agent of dental caries, is involved in systemic diseases, such as bacterial endocarditis, if it enters the bloodstream through temporary bacteraemia. Interleukin(IL)-1β, a proinflammatory cytokine, is related to the host defences against pathogens, and its synthesis, maturation, and secretion are tightly regulated by the activation of the inflammasome, an inflammatory signalling complex. This study examined the signalling mechanism of IL-1β secretion and the inflammasome pathway induced by S. mutans to explain the molecular mechanism through which systemic infection by oral streptococci can occur. After infection of THP-1 cells with S. mutans, the expression of inflammasome components was detected using various methods. S. mutans induced IL-1β secretion via caspase-1 activation, and S. mutans-induced IL-1β secretion required absent in melanoma(AIM2), NLR family pyrin domain-containing 3(NLRP3) and NLR family CARD domain-containing 4(NLRC4)inflammasome activation. In particular, the S. mutans-induced NLRP3 inflammasome was mediated by adenosine triphosphate(ATP) release, potassium depletion and lysosomal damage. Our study provides novel insight into the innate immune response against S. mutans infection.

Integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA) has been proposed as a concept that combines the cultivation of fed aquaculture species (e.g., finfish/shrimp) with extractive aquaculture species (e.g., shellfish/seaweed). In seaweed-based integrated aquaculture, seaweeds have the capacity to reduce the environmental impact of nitrogen-rich effluents on coastal ecosystems. Thus, selection of optimal species for such aquaculture is of great importance. The present study aimed to develop a seaweed species-selection index for selecting suitable species in seaweed-based integrated aquaculture system. The index was synthesized using available literature-based information, reference data, and physiological seaweed experiments to identify and prioritize the desired species. Undaria pinnatifida, Porphyra yezoensis and Ulva compressa scored the highest according to a seaweed-based integrated aquaculture suitability index (SASI). Seaweed species with the highest scores were adjudged to fit the integrated aquaculture systems. Despite the application of this model limited by local aquaculture environment, it is considered to be a useful tool for selecting seaweed species in IMTA.

Dear Editor,Acute subhyaloid hemorrhage causes sudden profound vision loss in the macular *** is a term that designates ocular hemorrhages lying between the posterior hyaloid membrane and the retina,often presented as a‘boat’or‘D’shaped hemorrhage[1].The development of optical coherence tomography(OCT)had enabled detailed differentiation of subhyaloid hemorrhage,allowing the term sub-internal limiting membrane(ILM)hemorrhage to be applied in selected cases where the blood is located beneath the ILM[1-2].However,it is not always possible to distinguish the location of the hemorrhage due to the attenuation of the retinal structures on ***,subhyaloid hemorrhage remains a widely used term,implying both subhyaloid and sub-ILM hemorrhage[1].
