OBJECTIVE： Anti-asthma herbal medicine intervention （ASHMITM）, a combination of three tradi- tional Chinese medicinal herbs developed in our laboratory, has demonstrated efficacy in both mouse models of allergic asthma, and a double-blind placebo-controlled clinical trial in patients with asthma. This study was designed to determine if the anti-inflammatory effects of individual herbal constituents of ASHMITM exhibited synergy. METHODS： Effects of ASHMI and its components aqueous extracts of Lingzhi （Ganoderma lucidum）, Kushen （Sophora flavescens） and Gancao （Glycyrrhiza uralensis）, on Th2 cytokine secretion by murine memory Th2 cells （D10.G4.1） and eotaxin-1 secretion by human lung fibroblast （HLF-1） cells were determined by measuring levels in culture supernatants by enzyme- linked immunosorbent assay. Potential synergistic effects were determined by computing interaction indices from concentration-effect curve parameters. RESULTS： Individual Lingzhi, Kushen and Gancao extracts and ASHMI （the combination of individual extracts） inhibited production of interleukin （IL）-4 and IL-5 by murine memory Th2 cells and eotaxin-1 production by HLF-1 cells. The mean 25%-inhibitory-concentration （IC2s） values （mg/mL） forASHMI, Lingzhi, Kushen and Gancao for IL-4 production were 30.9, 79.4, 123, and 64.6, respectively; for IL-5 production were 30.2, 263, 123.2 and 100, respectively; for eotaxin-1 were 13.2, 16.2, 30.2, and 25.1, respectively. The IC50values （mg/mL） for ASHMI, Lingzhi, Kushen and Gancao for IL-4 production were 158.5, 239.9, 446.7, and 281.8, respectively; for eotaxin-1 were 38.1, 33.1, 100, and 158.5, respectively. The interaction indices of ASHMI constituents at IC25 were 0.35 for IL-4, 0.21 for IL-5 and 0.59 for eotaxin-l. The interaction indices at IC^0 values were 0.50 for IL-4 and 0.62 for eotaxin-1 inhibition. Inhibition of IL-5 did not reach IC^0 values. Perfuorinated compounds(PFCs)are toxic and widely present in the environment,and therefore effective adsorbents are required to remove PFCs from environmental *** the present study,a new type of fuorinated biomass materials was synthesized via an ingenious fuorosilanization *** adsorbents were applied for the adsorption of 13typical PFCs,including perfuorocarboxylic acids(PFCAs)and perfuorosulfonic acids(PFSAs).By comparing their adsorption performance,Fluorinated cedar slag(FCS)was discovered to have the best absorption efficiency and enabled highly efficient enrichment of *** adsorption recovery of FCS with the investigated PFCs is greater than 90%under the optimal adsorption *** to the high affinity of F-F sorbent-sorbate interaction,FCS had good adsorption capacities of PFCs from aqueous solution,with the maximum adsorption capacity of 15.80 mg/g for PFOS and 10.71 mg/g for PFOA,***,the adsorption time could be achieved in a short time(8 min).Using the FCS absorbent,an innovative FCS-solid phase extraction assisted with high performance liquid chromatography-electrospray-tandem mass spectrometry(FCS-SPE-HPLC-ESI-MS/MS)method was first developed to sensitively detect PFCs in the environmental water *** intra-day and inter-day recovery rates of the 13 compounds ranged from 90.7%-104.3%,with the RSD of 2.1%-4.7%(intra-day)and 2.5%-8.5%(inter-day),*** research demonstrates the potential of the newly fuoro-functionalized plant biomass to adsorb PFCs from environmental water,with the advantages of high adsorption efficiencies,high antiinterference,easy operation and low economic cost.

Fishway research is important for mitigating the fragmentation of river habitats caused by hydraulic *** vertical slit fishway is a broadly used fishway type because of its high efficiency and adaptability to water ***,the resulting vortex current disrupts the fish passage hence directly affecting fish *** study aims to accurately capture the vortex structure in the fishway and analyze the effect of vortex elements(vortex structure,vortex intensity,etc.)on *** conducted an analysis of the 3-D current flow field in the fishway through the utilization of an experimental model and the large eddy simulation(LES)***,we captured the vortex information in the fishway at different flow rates using the Liutex vortex identification method and investigated the effect of the vortex on fish *** results revealed that the structures inside the fishway pool occupy most of the room,however,the areas with higher vortex strength were primarily located in the vortex near the vertical seam and the mainstream,the vortex strength inside the fishway gradually increases with increasing flow,suppressing fish *** experienced significantly increased resistance when encountering strong *** suggests that the vortex may act as a physical barrier to fish *** findings highlight the potential negative effects of vortex on fish movement and reiterate the importance of understanding vortex dynamics for aquatic environmental *** an effective tool for identifying vortices in fluid flow,the Liutex method demonstrates features of vortex within the fishway,thereby providing important insights into the interaction between fluid dynamics and aquatic organisms.

Natural slopes usually display complicated exposed rock surfaces that are characterized by complex and substantial terrain undulation and ubiquitous undesirable phenomena such as vegetation cover and *** study presents a systematic outcrop research of fracture pattern variations in a complicated rock slope,and the qualitative and quantitative study of the complex phenomena impact on threedimensional(3D)discrete fracture network(DFN)*** the studies of the outcrop fracture pattern have been so far focused on local variations,thus,we put forward a statistical analysis of global *** entire outcrop is partitioned into several subzones,and the subzone-scale variability of fracture geometric properties is analyzed(including the orientation,the density,and the trace length).The results reveal significant variations in fracture characteristics(such as the concentrative degree,the average orientation,the density,and the trace length)among different ***,the density of fracture sets,which is approximately parallel to the slope surface,exhibits a notably higher value compared to other fracture sets across all *** improve the accuracy of the DFN modeling,the effects of three common phenomena resulting from vegetation and rockfalls are qualitatively analyzed and the corresponding quantitative data processing solutions are ***,the 3D fracture geometric parameters are determined for different areas of the high-steep rock slope in terms of the subzone *** results show significant variations in the same set of 3D fracture parameters across different regions with density differing by up to tenfold and mean trace length exhibiting differences of 3e4 *** study results present precise geological structural information,improve modeling accuracy,and provide practical solutions for addressing complex outcrop issues.

The present study aims to examine the suitability of two commonly used assumptions that simplify modelling metoceanconditions for designing offshore wind turbines in the South China Sea (SCS). The first assumption assumes thatjoint N-year extreme wind and wave events can be independently estimated and subsequently combined. The secondone assumes peak wind and waves can be modelled as occurring simultaneously during a tropical cyclone (TC) *** better understand the potential TC activity, a set of 10000 years synthetic TC events are generated. The wind fieldmodel and the Mike 21 spectral wave model are employed to model the TC-induced hazards. Subsequently, theeffect of the assumptions is evaluated by analyzing the peak structural response of both monopile and semisubmersibleoffshore wind turbines during TC events. The results demonstrate that the examined assumptions are generally *** assessing the implications of these assumptions, valuable insights are obtained, which can inform andimprove the modelling of TC-induced hazards in the SCS region.
