Permafrost is degrading globally,particularly those with low thermal stability on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,owing to climate ***,the inadequacy of direct research on permafrost degradation based on in-situ monitoring limits the prediction of permafrost degradation and engineering *** study explored the processes and modes of permafrost degradation into talik by analyzing ground temperature data from five points in the hinterland of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau from 2006 to *** results showed that the degradation of the warm permafrost layer with a geothermal gradient of zero occurred simultaneously in the top and bottom *** rate of permafrost degradation from the top down and bottom up increase during the degradation process,but the increase of the former is more drastic after the formation of thawed ***,the construction of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway changed the degradation modes of the permafrost in adjacent natural sites through horizontal heat transfer,particularly after through talik formation under the *** findings suggest that taking countermeasures before or immediately after forming thawed interlayer is more *** evaluating the thermal impact of projects in warm permafrost regions,special attention should be given to the horizontal heat transfer process that may result from the formation of a through talik.

Background: Metastatic colorectal cancer(mCRC) patients with progressive disease after all available standard therapies need new medication for further treatment. Famitinib is a small-molecule multikinase inhibitor, with promising anticancer activities. This multicenter, randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled, phase II clinical trial was designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of famitinib in ***: Famitinib or placebo was administered orally once daily. The primary endpoint was progression-free survival(PFS). Secondary endpoints included objective response rate(ORR), disease control rate(DCR), overall survival(OS), quality-of-life(QoL), and ***: Between July 18,2012 and Jan 22,2014, a total of 167 patients were screened, and 154 patients were randomized in a 2:1 ratio to receive either famitinib(n = 99) or placebo(n = 55). The median PFS was 2.8 and 1.5 months in the famitinib and placebo groups(hazard ratio = 0.60,95% confidence interval = 0.41-0.86, P = 0.004). The DCR was 59.8% and 31.4%(P = 0.002) and the ORR was 2.2% and 0.0%(P = 0.540) in the famitinib and placebo groups,respectively. The most frequent grade 3-4 adverse events were hypertension(11.1%), hand-foot syndrome(10.1%),thrombocytopenia(10.1%) and neutropenia(9.1%). Serious adverse events occurred in 11(11.1%) patients in the famitinib group and 5(9.1%) in the placebo group(P = 0.788). The establishment of reactive oxygen species(ROS) elimination sites in iron-nitrogen-carbon(Fe-N-C) electrocatalysts to achieve durable proton-exchange membrane fuel cells(PEMFCs) performance has attracted broad interest. However, realizing ROS removal efficiency and oxygen reduction reaction(ORR) activity within a single system represents a significant challenge to date. Herein, we demonstrate uniform ROS elimination sites and ORR centers through an electrochemical reconstruction method on the parallel sites of Fe@Ce NC electrocatalyst for durable PEMFC. During the reconstruction process, the Fe sites can retain their original configuration. Meanwhile, the pristine Ce clusters will evolve into more efficient, highly dispersed ***, the reconstructed Fe and Ce sites exhibit favorable energy barriers for the ORR and ROS elimination pathways,respectively, thereby maintaining ORR activity and achieving high ROS tolerance. Consequently, the PEMFC assembled with our catalyst shows only a 2% decay in power density after the accelerated durability test. We anticipate that this parallel structure design will provide new insight into the development of more durable electrocatalysts for PEMFCs.

Podostemaceae(riverweed family),one of the largest aquatic plant families in the world,comprises about 350 species in 51 genera placed in three subfamilies,Podostemoideae,Weddellinoideae,and Tristichoideae(Koi et al.,2022).Most Podostemaceae genera(~38)are monotypic or oligotypic,with a high level of endemism(Koi et al.,2018,2022).Members of Podostemaceae adhere to rocks in fast-flowing rivers,streams,or waterfalls in the subtropics and tropics(Koi et al.,2018).As an adaptation to fastrunning currents,the morphological structure of river-weeds tends to be extremely reduced,including a loss or reduction of primary shoots or roots(Koi and Kato,2007).The vegetative mass of these plants resembles lichens or bryophytes,and are thus known commonly as“dream bryophytes”(Philbrick and Retana,1998).Podostemaceae plants flower when the water level drops during the dry *** recent years,anthropogenic factors and climate change have severely affected river weed habitats,decreasing populations of these plants.

●AIM:To investigate the molecular diagnosis of a threegeneration Chinese family affected with aniridia,and further to identify clinically a PAX6 missense mutation in members with atypical aniridia.●METHODS:Eleven family members with and without atypical aniridia were *** family members underwent comprehensive ophthalmic examinations.A combination of whole exome sequencing(WES)and direct Sanger sequencing were performed to uncover the causative mutation.●RESULTS:Among the 11 family members,8 were clinically diagnosed with congenital aniridia(atypical aniridia phenotype).A rare heterozygous mutation c.622C>T(***208Trp)in exon 8 of PAX6 was identified in all affected family members but not in the unaffected members or in healthy control subjects.●CONCLUSION:A rare missense mutation in the PAX6 gene is found in members of a three-generation Chinese family with congenital atypical *** result contributes to an increase in the phenotypic spectrum caused by PAX6 missense heterozygous variants and provides useful information for the clinical diagnosis of atypical aniridia,which may also contribute to genetic counselling and family planning.
