NORMAL APPEARANCE OF LARGE FIELD DIFFUSION WEIGHTED IMAGING ON 3.0T MRI

Objective To evaluate the normal appearance of large field diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) on 3.0T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Methods Twenty healthy volunteers and thirty patients with benign prostate hyperplasia were included in this study. All patients were examined with large field DWI on 3.0T MRI. Normal tissue appearance was analyzed and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) of normal tissue with high signal intensity was measured. The ADC values of bilateral symmetrical tissue were also compared. The ADC values of intervertebral disks of healthy people younger than 50 years and exceeding 50 years were compared. Results Salivary gland, spleen, kidney, gallbladder, bladder, prostate, seminal vesicle, testis, intervertebral disk, liquid in articular cavity and lymph node showed high signal intensity on large field DWI, while lung, liver and bone showed hypo-signal intensity. The mean ADC values of partial hyperintensity tissue were as followed: parotid gland (1.088 ± 0.114) ×10-3 mm2/s, submaxillary gland (1.309 ± 0.189) ×10-3 mm2/s, kidney (1.909 ± 0.143) ×10-3 mm2/s, seminal vesicle (1.669 ± 0.168) ×10-3 mm2/s, testis (1.028 ± 0.075) ×10-3 mm2/s, spleen (0.963 ± 0.108) ×10-3 mm2/s, bladder (2.898 ± 0.267) ×10-3 mm2/s, prostate (1.448 ± 0.132) ×10-3 mm2/s, intervertebral disks (1.360 ± 0.140) ×10-3 mm2/s. No statistical significance was found between the ADC values of bilateral symmetrical tissues. The difference of ADC values of intervertebral disks of healthy people younger than 50 years [(1.372 ± 0.142) ×10-3 mm2/s] and exceeding 50 years [(1.344 ± 0.134) ×10-3 mm2/s] showed statistical significance (P = 0.040). Conclusion Understanding the high signal intensity of normal tissue on large field DWI may help to differentiate the normal tissues and abnormal ones.

Clinical significance of chromosomal abnormalities detected by interphase fluorescence in situ hybridization in newly diagnosed multiple myeloma patients

Background Chromosome 13q14 deletion （del13q14）, chromosome 1q21 gain （amp1q21） and chromosome 17p13 deletion （del17p13） are the most frequent chromosomal aberrations in multiple myeloma （MM）. They play an important role in prognosis. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical significance of the chromosomal changes in Chinese MM *** Interphase fluorescence in situ hybridization （FISH） on bone marrow （BM） cells was performed in 72 enrolled MM patients. Relationships between chromosomal abnormalities and clinical features, response to therapies and prognosis were *** As a result of interphase FISH, 77.8% （56/72） patients had chromosome changes. The incidences of each probe were RB1 51.4% （37/72）, D13S319 47.2% （34/72）, 1q21 45.8% （33/72） and p53 22.2% （12/72）. Osteolytic lesion,BM plasma cells index, serum calcium and serum M component were significantly correlated to del13q14. BM plasma cells and hemoglobin were correlated to amp1q21. Serum lactate dehydrogenase （LDH） was correlated with *** with del13q14 treated with bortezomib had a notably higher overall response rate than the patients treated with traditional chemotherapies （93% vs. 65%, P=0.048）. Patients carrying amp1q21 or/and del17p13 did not achieve satisfactory response to bortezomib. The median progression-free survival （PFS） for patients with amp1q21 was 5 months and patients without amp1q21 got 9-month PFS （P=0.001）. The median PFS for patients with del13q14 was 5 months （vs. 8 months, P=0.026）. The median PFS for patients with del17p13 was 3 months （vs. 8 months, P=0.002）.Patients with β2-microglobulin 〉5.5 mg/L also had a worse outcome, whose median PFS was 5 months （vs. 8 months,P=0.016）.Conclusions The prevalence of chromosomal abnormalities of MM patients was similar in Chinese and Caucasian people. Genetic changes were associated with patients＇ responses to therapies and prognosis.

Synthesis and Characterization of Two [2]Catenanes Based on Phenylene-diacetylene Crown Ethers

Two charged donor-acceptor [2]catenanes were synthesized by the cyclization of the π-acceptor 1,1 ＇-[1, 4-phenylenebis-（methylene）]bis（4,4＇-bipyridinium）bis（hexafluorophosphate）（2） and bis（bromomethyl）benzene with the templates of the π-donor phenylene-diacetylene crown ethers la and lb in the yields of 31%, 35%, respectively. The mass spectra, 1H and 13C NMR spectra confirm that the phenylene-diacetylene crown ethers, with a nonaromatic ~r-system, successfully template the cyclization of CBPQT4＋. The X-ray crystallography analysis shows that the CBPQT4＋ ring encircles around the phenylene motif of the crown ethers, leaving the 1,3-butadiyne fragment out of the cavity of CBPQT4＋ ring. The mechanically interlocked structure of [2]catenanes was stabilized by the cooperative effects of π-stacking and hydrogen bonding interactions.

Genetic Analysis and Molecular Mapping of Two SMV-Resistance Traits in Soybean:Adult-Plant Resistance and Resistance to Seed Coat Mottling

Soybean mosaic virus （SMV） could lead to adult-plant system diseases, and cause mottling of soybean seeds. Genetic analysis and molecular mapping were conducted using an F2 population and derived F3 families from two crosses of Dongnong 3C624 （susceptible）x Dongnong 8143 （resistant） and Dongnong 3C628 （susceptible）× Tie 6915 （resistant）. Simple sequence repeat （SSR） markers with bulked segregation analysis （BSA） were used to conduct genetic mapping of the resistance to SMV1 in the segregating populations. The results indicated that resistance to SMV1 in adultplants and the resistance to seed coat mottling in Dongnong 8143 and Tie 6915 was separately controlled by one single dominant gene. The two dominant genes were identified to be linked on the MLG F by Mendel＇s genetics and SSR genetic mapping. The order and distance of markers DPRSMV1 and DSRSMV1 were Sat 229-6.9 cM-DSRSMV1-4.6 cM-Sat_317-3.6 cM-DPRSMV1-5.2 cM-Satt335. The order and distance of markers TPRSMV1 and TSRSMV1 was Satt160-16.1 cM-TPRSMV1-7.3 cM-Satt516-2.0 cM-TSRSMV1-4.5 cM-Sat_133. This research provides the useful information for breeders to select the two types of SMV resistance simultaneously in soybean breeding through molecular marker-assisted selection （MAS）.

Breaking the efficiency limitations of dissipative Kerr solitons using nonlinear couplers

Dissipative Kerr solitons(DKS) have long been suffering from poor power conversion efficiency when driven by continuous-wave lasers. By deriving the critical coupling condition of a multimode nonlinear optics system in a generalized theoretical framework,two efficiency limitations of the conventional pump method of DKS are revealed: the effective coupling rate is too small and is also power-dependent. A general approach is provided to resolve this challenge by introducing two types of nonlinear couplers to couple the soliton cavity and CW input through nonlinear processes. The collective coupler opens multiple coupling channels and the self-adaptive coupler builds a power-independent effective external coupling rate to the DKS for approaching the generalized critical coupling condition, which promises near-unity power conversion efficiencies. For instance, a conversion efficiency exceeding 90% is predicted for aluminum nitride microrings with a nonlinear coupler utilizing second-harmonic generation. The mechanism applies to various nonlinear processes, including Raman and Brillouin scattering, and thus paves the way for micro-solitons toward practical applications.

Minimally invasive surgery is a kind of surgical operation,which is performed by using professional surgical instruments and equipment to inactivate,resect,repair or reconstruct the pathological changes,deformities and wounds in human body through micro-trauma or micro-approach,in order to achieve the goal of treatment,its surgical effect is equivalent to the traditional open surgery,while avoiding the morbidity of conventional surgical *** addition,it also has the advantages of less trauma,less blood loss during operation,less psychological burden and quick recovery on patients,and these minimally invasive techniques provide unique value for the examination and treatment of gastric cancer *** minimally invasive surgical techniques have developed rapidly and offer numerous options for the treatment of early gastric cancer(EGC):endoscopic mucosal resection(EMR),underwater EMR(UEMR),endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD),endoscopic full-thickness resection(EFTR),endoscopic submu-cosal excavation(ESE),submucosal tunnel endoscopic resection,laparoscopic and endoscopic cooperative surgery(LECS);Among them,EMR,EFTR and LECS technologies have a wide range of applications and different modific-ations have been derived from their respective surgical operations,such as band-assisted EMR(BA-EMR),conven-tional EMR(CEMR),over-the-scope clip-assisted EFTR,no-touch EFTR,the inverted LECS,closed LECS,and so *** new and improved minimally invasive surgeries are more precise,specific and effective in treating different types of EGC.

Three-dimensional geochemical modeling of ore-forming elements is crucial for predicting deep *** approach provides key information for the quantitative prediction of deep mineral localization,three-dimensional fine interpolation,analysis of spatial distribution patterns,and extraction of quantitative mineral-seeking *** Yechangping molybdenum(Mo)deposit is a significant and extensive porphyry-skarn deposit in the East Qinling-Dabie Mo polymetallic metallogenic belt at the southern margin of the North China *** borehole data on oreforming elements underpin deep geochemical *** methodology includes the following steps:(1)Threedimensional geological modeling of the deposit was established.(2)Correlation,cluster,and factor analyses post delineation of mineralization stages and determination of mineral generation sequence to identify(Cu,Pb,Zn,Ag)and(Mo,W,mfe)assemblages.(3)A three-dimensional geochemical block model was constructed for Mo,W,mfe,Cu,Zn,Pb,and Ag using the ordinary kriging method,and the variational function was developed.(4)Spatial distribution and enrichment characteristics analysis of ore-forming elements are performed to extract geological information,employing the variogram and w(Cu+Pb+Zn+Ag)/w(Mo+W)as predictive indicators.(5)Identifying the western,northwestern,and southwestern areas of the mine with limited mineralization potential,contrasted by the northeastern and southeastern areas favorable for mineral exploration.

Effects of microplastic polystyrene,simulated acid rain and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi on Trifolium repens growth and soil microbial community composition

Microplastic pollution is a global and ubiquitous environmental problem in the oceans as well as in the terrestrial *** examined the fate of microplastic polystyrene(MPS)beads in experimental soil in the presence and absence of symbiotic arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi(AMF)and simulated acid rain(SAR)to determine whether the combinations of these three factors altered the growth of white clover Trifolium *** found that MPS,SAR,or AMF added singly to soil did not alter *** growth or *** contrast,MPS and AMF together significantly reduced shoot biomass,while SAR and MPS together significantly reduced soil available phosphorus independent of AMF *** polystyrene,AMF,and SAR together significantly reduced soil NO_(3)^(-)-*** mycorrhizal fungi added singly also enriched the beneficial soil bacteria(genus Solirubrobacter),while MPS combined with AMF significantly enriched the potential plant pathogenic fungus *** mycorrhizal fungi inoculation with MPS increased the abundance of soil hydrocarbon degraders independent of the presence of *** addition,the abundance of soil nitrate reducers was increased by MPS,especially in the presence of AMF and ***,SAR alone increased the abundance of soil pathogens within the fungal community including antibiotic *** findings indicate that the coexistence of MPS,SAR,and AMF may exacerbate the adverse effects of MPS on soil and plant health.

Effect of stress-relief annealing on thermal fatigue cracks for die-casting die steels

The effect of stress-relief annealing at different stages of thermal fatigue tests on crack growth was investigated using a self-built thermal cycle *** results showed that annealing could limit crack expansion *** reduced dislocation density and released the accumulation of residual *** addition,the strain accumulation in carbides was reduced by this *** was also found that double annealing was even more effective at inhibiting crack expansion compared to single stress-relief *** 1000 cycles,the maximum crack length was reduced by 31.1%and 45.2%for the samples after using the optimal single and double annealing processes,*** single stress-relief annealing,earlier annealing provides more benefit in delaying crack ***,effective double stress-relief annealing requires a suitable time interval between the annealing ***,after 800 cycles,surface hardness decreased significantly accompanied by an increase in the size and number of carbides,and cracks expanded predominantly along grain boundaries.

●Multiple evanescent white dot syndrome(MEWDS)is a rare fundus disease,characterized by acute vision loss and visual field *** previous studies have explained the possible pathogenesis and clinical features of primary ***,as the number of reported cases increases,secondary MEWDS occurs in other related retinal diseases and injuries,exhibiting some special *** associated retinal diseases include multifocal choroiditis/punctate inner choroidopathy(MFC/PIC),acute zonal occult outer retinopathy,best vitelliform macular dystrophy,pseudoxanthoma elasticum,and ocular *** related retinal injury is laser photocoagulation,surgery,and *** primary MEWDS often have a self-limiting course,secondary MEWDS may require treatment in some cases,according to the severity of concomitant diseases and ***,MEWDS secondary to MFC/PIC that is prone to forming choroidal neovascularization and focal choroidal excavation,needs positive treatment with *** possible underlying pathogenesis of secondary MEWDS is the exposure of choroidal antigen after the disruption of Bruch’s *** MEWDS-related features in secondary MEWDS are still evanescent under most *** prognosis and treatment depend on the severity of *** studies propose that the etiology is associated with immune factors,including viral infection,inflammation in choroid and Bruch’s membrane,and antigen exposure caused by retinal and/or choroidal *** pathogenic studies should be conducted in the *** diagnosis for secondary MEWDS could benefit patients in aspects of management and prognosis.
