Oxide pegging is a widely accepted mechanistic model explaining the reactive element effect on the improved adherence of ***,previous models for the oxide peg formation process have not considered the effects of more than one active element added into the alloy during the peg *** study proposes a new model of oxide peg formation and growth for the doping of two reactive elements in an alloy(the precipitated Y and solid solute Ti).Different amounts of Ti and Y were added to a Co Ni Cr Al alloy,and the characteristics of the resulting oxide pegs,such as their linear density,size,and forming process,are obtained by examining alloy samples subjected to an isothermal oxidation operation at a temperature of 1150℃.It is found that the amount of Y determines the density of the oxide pegs,and Ti does not form a Ti-rich oxide core if a Y-rich oxide exists in the *** samples with the same Y content,the oxide pegs primarily grow in length,and with increased Ti content,they grow along the b-phase boundary and into the *** on these results,a three-step model for oxide peg formation and growth is conceived.

Introduction:Erythropoietic protoporphyria(EPP)is a rare photodermatosis mainly caused by deficiency of the enzyme ferrochelatase(FECH).We herein report a case of EPP associated with 2 novel mutations in *** presentation:A 15-year-old boy experienced pain and pruritus after sunlight *** had occasional claret-red urine,hepatomegaly with increased alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase levels,and an elevated free erythrocyte protoporphyrin *** was treated with oralβ-carotene and cholestyramine and avoidance of sunlight as much as ***:Genome sequencing revealed 2 novel FECH mutations that had been inherited from his healthy *** analysis involving prediction using PolyPhen-2,SIFT,and Mutation Taster revealed that the 2 novel mutations were likely *** the patient’s parents were healthy,they each had one of these 2 *** finding is consistent with previous reports stating that individuals carrying low-expression alleles can be *** pathogenesis of the disease caused by these 2 mutations requires verification by larger and more detailed ***:Although the precise role of these mutations in EPP is not clear,the findings in the present case expand the genotypic spectrum of the disease.

Periodic anaerobic baffled reactor （PABR） is a novel reactor based on the design concept of anaerobic baffled reactor （ABR）. Residence time distribution （RTD） studies on both clean and working reactors at the same hydraulic residence time （HRT） of 2 d were carded out to investigate the dead spaces and mixing patterns in PABRs at different organic loading rates （OLRs） in various switching manners and frequencies. The results showed that the fraction of dead space in PABR was similar to that in ABR, which was low in comparison with other reactor designs. Dead space may be divided into two categories, hydraulic and biological. In RTD studies without biomass, the hydraulic dead space in the PABR run in an ＂every second＂ switching manner with T = 2 d was the lowest whereas that in the PABR run in a T = ∞ （ABR） switching manner was the highest. The same trend was obtained with the total dead space in RTD studies with biomass no matter what the OLR was. Biological dead space was the major contributor to dead space but affected decreasingly at higher OLR whichever switching manner the PABR run in. The flow patterns within the PABRs were intermediate between plug-flow and perfectly mixed under all the conditions tested,
