Dear Editor, Diseases of the genitourinary system were the fifth most common disease of inpatients in Chinese city hospitals in 2011 （6.0%）.1 Andrology in China has grown rapidly within the last decade, however, little is known about the scientific publications by Chinese authors in andrology. We, therefore, sought to reveal the contributions of Chinese authors in three major regions of China-the Mainland （ML）, Taiwan （TW）, and Hong Kong （HK）-to the research in the fields of andrology.

Cancer patients suffer from diverse symptoms, including depression, anxiety, pain, and fatigue and lower quality of life（Qo L） during disease progression. This study aimed to evaluate the benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicine psycho-behavioralinterventions（TCM PBIs） on improving Qo L by meta-analysis. Electronic literature databases（Pub Med, CNKI, VIP, and Wanfang） were searched for randomized, controlled trials conducted in China. The primary intervention was TCM PBIs. The main outcome was health-related Qo L（HR Qo L） post-treatment. We applied standard meta analytic techniques to analyze data from papers that reached acceptable criteria. The six TCM PBIs analyzed were acupuncture, Chinese massage, Traditional Chinese Medicine five elements musical intervention（TCM FEMI）, Traditional Chinese Medicine dietary supplement（TCM DS）, Qigong and Tai Chi. Although both TCM PBIs and non-TCM PBIs reduced functional impairments in cancer patients and led to pain relief, depression remission, reduced time to flatulence following surgery and sleep improvement, TCM PBIs showed more beneficial effects as assessed by reducing both fatigue and gastrointestinal distress. In particular, acupuncture relieved fatigue, reduced diarrhea and decreased time to flatulence after surgery in cancer patients, while therapeutic Chinese massage reduced time to flatulence and time to peristaltic sound. These findings demonstrate the efficacy of TCM PBIs in improving Qo L in cancer patients and establish that TCM PBIs represent beneficial adjunctive therapies for cancer patients.

Objective Inflammasome is constituted of NOD-like receptor, adapter protein ASC and effector protein Caspase-1, which can promote maturation of IL-1β, IL-18 and IL-33. Inflammasome can be activated by a variety of factors, such as infection, ROS, injury and metabolites, ATP and so on. However, there is no direct evidence reported in the literature regarding if stress can activate the inflammasome. This study aims to confirm that inflammasome is one of the key targets of lipopolysaccharide（LPS） and stress-induced depression-like behavior in mice by establishing acute and chronic mouse models of depression. Our study plans to clarify the signal transduction pathways and molecular mechanisms of how stress leading to activation of inflammasome, explore new intervention targets of depression, and provide new strategies for the prevention and treatment of depression as well as other stress related disorders. Methods LPS and chronic unpredictable mild stress were used to establish acute and chronic mouse model of depression respectively. Expression of inflammasome protein was detected by western blot and m RNA by real-time quantitative PCR. Depression-like behavior was detected by sucrose preference test, forced swimming test and tail suspension test. To investigate the signal transduction pathway of inflammasome activation, ROS, P2 X7/pannexin-1, Cathepsin-B were detected in brain tissue and the screened target cells of LPS and stressinduced depression animal models. Results（1） NLRP3 inflammasome is involved in acute depression. The multi-plex protein chip and real-time quantitative PCR were used to detect IL-1β protein and m RNA expression levels in mice brain, both of which were significantly increased in LPS-treated mice. The m RNA expression levels of the NLRP3 inflammasome, NLRP3, ASC and Caspase-1 were also significantly increased in the brain of the mice. Neuropeptide Y promotes TGF-β1 production in RAW264.7 cells by activating PI3K pathway via Y1 receptor

Objective To examine the effect of neuropeptide Y （NPY） on TGF-β1 production in RAW264.7 macrophages. Methods Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay （ELISA） was used to detect TGF-β1 production. Cell counting kit 8 （CCK-8） was used to assay the viability of RAW264.7 cells. Western blot was used to detect the phosphorylation of PI3K p85. Results NPY treatment could promote TGF-β1 production and rapid phosphorylation of PI3K p85 in RAW264.7 cells via Y1 receptor. The elevated TGF-β 1 production induced by NPY could be abolished by wortrnannin pretreatment. Conclusion NPY may elicit TGF-β production in RAW264.7 cells via Y1 receptor, and the activated PI3K pathway may account for this effect.
