BACKGROUND Vitamin deficiencies are linked to various eye diseases,and the influence of vitamin D on cataract formation has been noted in prior ***,detailed investigations into the causal relationship between 25-(OH)D status and cataract development remain *** To explore a possible causal link between cataracts and vitamin *** In this study,we explored the causal link between 25-(OH)D levels and cataract development using Mendelian *** analytical approach included inverse-variance weighting(IVW),MR-Egger,weighted median,simple mode,and weighted mode *** primary analyses utilized IVW with random effects,supplemented by sensitivity and heterogeneity tests using both IVW and ***-Egger was also applied for pleiotropy ***,a leave-one-out analysis helped identify potentially impactful single-nucleotide *** The analysis revealed a positive association between 25-(OH)D levels and the risk of developing cataracts(OR=1.11,95%CI:1.00-1.22;P=0.032).The heterogeneity test revealed that our IVW analysis exhibited minimal heterogeneity(P>0.05),and the pleiotropy test findings confirmed the absence of pleiotropy within our IVW analysis(P>0.05).Furthermore,a search of the human genotype-phenotype association database failed to identify any potentially relevant risk-factor single nucleotide *** There is a potential causal link between 25-(OH)D levels and the development of cataracts,suggesting that greater 25-(OH)D levels may be a contributing risk factor for cataract *** experimental research is required to confirm these findings.

This paper studies the optimal portfolio allocation of a fund manager when he bases decisions on both the absolute level of terminal relative performance and the change value of terminal relative performance comparison to a predefined reference point. We find the optimal investment strategy by maximizing a weighted average utility of a concave utility and an Sshaped utility via a concavification technique and the martingale method. Numerical results are carried out to show the impact of the extent to which the manager pays attention to the change of relative performance related to the reference point on the optimal terminal relative performance.

As the promising catalysts for the water-gas shift(WGS)reaction,the activity of Au-CeO_(2) composites is susceptible to the aggregation size and electronic state of Au *** reports were extensively focused on the discrepancy between nonmetallic Au and metallic Au nanoparticles,whereas the understanding of the authentic role of the isolated Au atoms was ***,we investigated the catalytic behavior and structural information over two types of Au/CeO_(2) catalysts,in which the predominant conjunctions were isolated Au1-CeO_(2) and Aun-CeO_(2),*** on comprehensive characterizations,particularly by in-situ Raman and in-situ DRIFTS,we found that the isolated Au atoms were responsible for enhancing the reducibility of the CeO_(2) *** CO adsorption ability on the isolated Au sites was significantly inferior to clustered Au atoms,especially at relatively high temperatures(>200°C).As a result,the boosted O vacancy on the isolated Au1-CeO_(2) conjunctions could improve the H2O activation ability for the Au-CeO_(2) catalysts and demonstrate a comparable activity to the clustered Aun-CeO_(2) *** work might deepen understanding of the catalytic function for the isolated Au1 site within Au/CeO_(2) systems while catalyzing the WGS reaction.

Neutron-skin thickness is a key parameter for a neutron-rich nucleus;however,it is difficult to *** the framework of the Lanzhou Quantum Molecular Dynamics(LQMD)model,a possible probe for the neutron-skin thickness(δ_(np))of neutron-rich ^(48)Ca was studied in the 140A MeV ^(48)Ca+^(9)Be projectile fragmentation reaction based on the parallel momentum distribution(p∥)of the residual fragments.A Fermi-type density distribution was employed to initiate the neutron density distributions in the LQMD simulations.A combined Gaussian function with different width parameters for the left side(Γ_(L))and the right side(Γ_(R))in the distribution was used to describe the p∥of the residual *** neutron-rich sulfur isotopes as examples,Γ_(L) shows a sensitive correlation withδ_(np) of ^(48)Ca,and is proposed as a probe for determining the neutron skin thickness of the projectile nucleus.

A composite material comprising a carbon layer and spherical carbon/carbon cloth(C-SC/CC)was fabricated using a hydrothermal-pyrolysis method,employing carbon cloth as the substrate and glucose as the carbon *** C-SC/CC electrode was evaluated as an electrocatalytic electrode for hydrogen production by electrolysis of Bunsen reaction *** electrode prepared with 4 g of glucose and annealed at 800°C showed excellent electrocatalytic *** requires only a potential of 185 mV(***)to achieve a current density of 10 mA/***,the electrode demonstrated good stability with a 6%loss in current density after 1000 cycles of scanning from 0.2 V to 1.2 *** results indicate the potential of the SC/CC electrode as an efficient and durable electrocatalyst for the electrolysis of H2SO4 and HI.
