H pylori eradication:A randomized prospective study of triple therapy with or without ecabet sodium

AIM: To investigate whether adding ecabet sodium to the standard triple therapy for H pylori infection improve eradication rate. METHODS: Two hundred and fifty-seven H pylori-infected patients were randomly assigned to standard triple therapy (group A, n = 129) or triple therapy plus ecabet sodium (group B, n = 128). Successful eradication was defined as a negative 13C-urea breath test 6-8 wk after completion of treatment. RESULTS: After completion of therapy, 194/257 patients showed negative 13C-urea breath test results. According to intention-to-treat analysis, the infection was eradicated in 93/129 (72.1%) patients in group A and 101/128 (78.9%) in group B (P = 0.204). Per-protocol analysis showed successful eradication in 93/118 (78.8%) patients from group A and 101/114 (88.6%) from group B (P = 0.044). There were no significant differences in the side effects experienced by the patients in the two treatment groups. CONCLUSION: Our results suggest that the addition of ecabet sodium improves the efficacy of the standard triple therapy for H pylori.

Lung cancer has the highest mortality rate among all cancers,in part because it readily *** tumor microenvironment,comprising blood vessels,fibroblasts,immune cells,and macrophages[including tumor-associated macrophages(TAMs)],is closely related to cancer cell growth,migration,and *** secrete several cytokines,including interleukin(IL)-1β,which participate in cancer migration and invasion.p21-activated kinase 1(PAK1),an important signaling molecule,induces cell migration and invasion in several ***responsive enhancer-binding protein(TonEBP)is also known to participate in cancer cell growth,migration,and ***,the mechanisms by which it increases lung cancer migration remain ***,in this study,we aimed to elucidate the mechanisms by which IL-1βand TonEBP affect lung cancer cell migration and *** found that A549 cocultured-MΦ-secreted IL-1βinduced A549 cell migration and invasion via the PAK1 *** deficiency reduced A549 cell migration and invasion and increased responsiveness to IL-1β–induced migration and ***1 phosphorylation,which was promoted by IL-1β,was reduced when TonEBP was *** results suggest that TonEBP plays an important role in IL-1βinduction and invasiveness of A549 cells via the PAK1 *** findings could be valuable in identifying potential targets for lung cancer treatment.

Incorporation of higher content Si anode material beyond 5 wt% to Li-ion batteries(LIBs)is challenging,owing to large volume change,swelling,and solid electrolyte interphase(SEI)instability ***,a strategy of diacetoxydimethylsilane(DAMS)additive-directed SEI stabilization is proposed for a stable operation of Si-0.33FeSi_(2)(named as Si-Fe)anode without graphite,which provides siloxane inorganics and organics enrichment that compensate insufficient passivation of fluoroethylene carbonate(FEC)additive and reduce a dependence on *** stable cycling performance of highly loaded(3.5 mA h cm^(-2))pure Si-Fe anode is achieved with 2 wt%DAMS combined with 9 wt%FEC additives under ambient pressure,yielding high capacity 1270 mA h g^(-1)at 0.5 C and significantly improved capacity retention of 81% after 100 cycles,whereas short circuit and rapid capacity fade occur with FEC only ***-directed robust SEI layer dramatically suppresses swelling and particles crossover through separator,and therefore prevents short circuit,demonstrating a possible operation of pure Si or Sidominant anodes in the next-generation high-energy-density and safe LIBs.

This article develops a procedure for screening variables, in ultra high-di- mensional settings, based on their predictive significance. This is achieved by ranking the variables according to the variance of their respective marginal regression functions (RV-SIS). We show that, under some mild technical conditions, the RV-SIS possesses a sure screening property, which is defined by Fan and Lv (2008). Numerical comparisons suggest that RV-SIS has competitive performance compared to other screening procedures, and outperforms them in many different model settings.

Diabetogenic traits in patients undergoing liver transplantation(LT) are exacerbated intraoperatively by exogenous causes, such as surgical stress, steroids,blood transfusions, and catecholamines, which leadto intraoperative hyperglycemia. In contrast to the strict glucose control performed in the intensive care unit, no systematic protocol has been developed for glucose management during LT. Intraoperative blood glucose concentrations typically exceed 200 mg/dL in LT, and extreme hyperglycemia(> 300 mg/dL) is common during the neohepatic phase. Only a few retrospective studies have examined the relationship between intraoperative hyperglycemia and posttransplant complications, with reports of infectious complications or mortality. However, no prospective studies have been conducted regarding the influence of intraoperative hyperglycemia in LT on post-transplant outcome. In addition to absolute blood glucose values,the temporal patterns in blood glucose levels during LT may serve as prognostic features. Persistent neohepatic hyperglycemia(without a decline) throughout LT is a useful indicator of early graft dysfunction. Moreover,intraoperative variability in glucose levels may predict the need for reoperation for hemorrhage after ***, there is an urgent need for guidelines for glucose control in these patients, as well as prospective studies on the impact of glucose control on various posttransplant complications. This report highlights some of the recent studies related to perioperative blood glucose management focused on LT and liver disease.

The present study aimed to identify which mitogen-activated protein kinase （p38 or Jun amino-terminal kinase [JNK]） was involved in cavernosal apoptosis during the acute phase after cavernosal nerve crush injury （CNCI） in rats to ameliorate apoptosis of cavernosal tissue, such as smooth muscle （SM）. A total of twenty 10-week-old male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided equally into two groups： sham surgery （S） and CNCI （I）. The I group approximated the clinical situation of men undergoing radical prostatectomy using two 60-second compressions of both CNs with a microsurgical vascular clamp. At 2-week postinjury, erectile response was assessed using electrostimulation. Penile tissues were harvested for immunohistochemistry analysis of alpha-SM actin （（x-SMA）, western blot analysis, and double immunofluorescence analysis of （x-SMA and phosphorylated p38 or JNK, as well as double immunofluorescent of TUNEL and phosphorylated p38 or JNK. At 2-week postinjury, the I group had a significantly lower intracavernous pressure （ICP）/mean arterial pressure （MAP） and a lower area under the curve （AUC）/MAP than the S group. The I group also exhibited decreased immunohistochemical staining of α-SMA, an increase in the number of SM cells positive for phosphorylated JNK, an increased number of apoptotic cells positive for phosphorylated JNK, and increased JNK phosphorylation compared with the S group. However, there was no significant difference in p38 phosphorylation expression or the number of SM cells positive for phosphorylated p38 between the two groups. In conclusion, our data suggest that JNK, not p38, is involved in cavernosal apoptosis during the acute phase after partial CN damage.
