Geochemistry and petrogenetic evolution of metasedimentary rocks in Bunu Area,part of Kabba-Lokoja-Igarra schist belt,SW Nigeria

Field and geochemical studies of the Bunu area,SW Nigeria,were carried out on gneiss-metasedimentary rocks that consist of migmatised gneiss,quartz-mica schist,and foliated and massive *** gneissmetasedimentary rocks are interbedded with meta-igneous rock(amphibolite),all of which are intruded by granitoid and cut by basic and felsic *** data on major,trace,and rare Earth elements of these rocks from the area were used to speculate on the petrogenetic and geodynamic evolution of the rocks in the ***,the metasedimentary rocks in the area have a restricted range of major oxides such as SiO_(2)and Al_(2)O_(3)with low average values of FeO,MnO,CaO,and *** of average values of HSFE such as Zr,Nb,and Y are moderately high in migmatitic gneiss,quartzmica schist,and low in both massive and foliated quartzite.ΣLREE average values are 124.25,132.41,and18.64 ppm respectively for migmatite gneiss,quartz-mica schist,and low in both massive and foliated *** rocks are also generally enriched in Ba,Cs,Pb,U,Cr,Rb,and Zr and depleted in Be,Sr,Ti,Mo,Th,and *** enrichment–depletion in major oxides and trace elements of the rocks in this area is probably a consequence of the movement of metamorphic remobilized fluids within the rocks in the area during the Pan-African or earlier events as noted in the adjacent Egbe-Isanlu Schist belt.A further geochemical characterisation of the rocks in the area using Log(Na_(2)O/KO)vs Log(SiO_(2)/Al_(2)O_(3)indicates that while the protolith of migmatised gneiss and quartzmica schist are greywackes to litharenite in compositions that of quartzites are sublitharenite to quartz *** the ternary plot of Al_(2)O_(3)-(CaO+Na_(2)O)-KO for metasedimentary rocks in the area,most migmatitic gneiss and quartz-mica schist rocks plot close to average shale while quartzites mostly tend to illite compositions and almost toward the Al_(2)O_(3)-apex of the diagram attesting to depletion of

This study aims to account for the petrogenesis and mineralization of pegmatites around the Wowyen area,northcentral basement complex,*** studies,petrography and whole rock geochemistry(Major oxides were estimated by X-Ray Fluorescence while the trace elements were estimated by Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry)where the methods *** pegmatites around Wowyen area are emplaced in the remobilized belt of the Nigerian Basement *** are predominantly complex pegmatites(rare-metal pegmatites)which are intruded in the biotite-muscovite gneiss while the simple pegmatites intruded more in the migmatitic banded *** major components of the complex pegmatites are quartz,albite and muscovite and *** accessory constituents are garnet;ilmenites;cassiterite-columbite-tantalite oxides in contrast to quartz,microcline and biotite of the simple *** complex pegmatites show higher peraluminous than the simple pegmatites,however,higher fractionation is observed in the complex pegmatites than the simple *** complex pegmatites are rather enriched in rare elements such as Li,Rb,B,Cs,Sn,Nb,Be and Ta and show low ratios in Al/Ga and K/Rb than the simple *** pegmatites are likely product of sedimentary origin and originated from post-collisional tectonic event.

建立了用于测定卵磷脂(lecithin)对钻井液中水合物形成影响的实验装置及方法,以理解化学添加剂卵磷脂对北极Cascade地区钻井过程中水合物层的稳定作用。本研究旨在理解卵磷脂对纯水中甲烷水合物形成热力学和动力学的影响。结果表明,卵磷脂基本上不影响甲烷水合物生成的热力学条件,但当卵磷脂在水中的浓度超过0.003g.g-1时,它会影响甲烷水合物的生成速度和数量,是很好的水合物生成动力学促进剂。

Coronavirus is currently a huge threat to human health all over the globe. Even though it has no cure yet, it can be contained by proper personal and collective hygiene. This makes access to sufficient clean water supply fundamental and indispensable. Since rural communities tend to be vulnerable to disease outbreaks due to poor standards of hygiene, this study examined the challenges of the rural communities in Enugu West Senatorial District in Nigeria over access to clean water supply and their preparedness to tackle COVID-19 pandemic, following the guidelines from world health experts. The survey showed general awareness of the pandemic in the selected communities. However, 71% neither have access to clean water supply, nor alternative to hand sanitizing agent. A large number of the respondents also acknowledged that availability and accessibility to clean water supply would improve the hygiene culture of the people and as a result curtail the spread of the disease. This study, therefore, recommends that government should intervene by extending water borehole projects and water treatment plants to various rural communities as well as providing maintenance services for non-functional ones.

Improved rice lines were developed frome three parents with the resistance or tolerance to bacterial leaf blight,blast and drought stress,respectively,using single-,double-and three-way *** improved lines were assessed for agro-morphological and yield traits under non-drought stress(NS)and reproductive-stage drought stress(RS)*** mean comparison of traits measured between parent plants and progenies(improved lines)were similar,and there were significant and non-significant differences among the parents and improved lines(genotypes)under NS and ***,there was significant and non-significant differences in the interaction among both parent varieties and improved lines for NS and *** and 3D-model of principal component analysis did not generate categorical clusters according to crossing methods,and there were no exclusive crossing method inclined variations under the *** improved lines were high-yielding,disease resistant,and drought-tolerant compared with their *** the crossing methods were good for this crop improvement program without preference to any,despite the number of genes introgressed.

Background: Listeriosis affects immunosuppressed individual’s especially pregnant women. Maternal infections are usually mild for the woman, but may have devastating effects on the unborn child, including miscarriage, stillbirth, preterm labour and serious neonatal illness. WHO recommends that pregnant women should be educated to avoid foods with high risk of contamination. This study seeks to evaluate knowledge and practices predisposing to listeria infections during pregnancy. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional study on pregnant women, attending the antenatal clinic of Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) using semi structured questionnaires. The knowledge score of participants was collated and analyzed using SPSS version 26. Results: The mean age of the participants was 32.07 ± 5.6 years. Forty-three (30.7%) women have had previous miscarriages with the mean no of miscarriage of 1.54. Out of 147 participants, only 20 (13.6%) admitted having heard of listeriosis while 127 (86.4%) had never heard of listeriosis and none of the participants has ever been tested for listeriosis. The Overall knowledge score was poor, and this was irrespective of age and duration of pregnancy. However, women with graduate and/or postgraduate degrees were more likely to have heard of Listeriosis (X2 = 10.88, P = 0.028). Conclusion: Our study shows a low level of knowledge about this food-borne illness, which can lead to severe illnesses in pregnant women and their unborn child. It is necessarily to educate pregnant women on the risk of listeriosis. This would be a key factor in creating and implementing accurate measures of prevention and control.

The basic goal of accounting is to provide quality accounting information that will aid reliable decision-making. The quality level of this accounting information comes from the company＇s governance practices, thereby emphasizing the importance of corporate governance in companies. Recently, following the financial crises resulting in accounting scandals, attention has been moving towards internal audit function as an important factor in the structure of corporate governance. This paper therefore examined the extent of the relationship between internal audit function and the quality of accounting information of companies. The study adopted the survey research design. The research instrument employed was questionnaire which was administered to internal auditors of the ＂Big Four＂. Linear regression analysis was employed in the analysis of the data collected with the use of Statistical Packages for Social Sciences （SPSS）. The results revealed that there is a significant relationship between the internal audit characteristics and the quality of accounting information. It was recommended that in order to provide credibility to the financial statement, there should be a law in place mandating attachment of internal auditors report to the financial statement.
