Perturbative modes and black hole entropy in f(Ricci) gravity

f(Ricci)gravity is a special kind of higher curvature gravity whose bulk Lagrangian density is the trace of a matrix-valued function of the Ricci *** is shown that under some mild constraints,f(Ricci)gravity admits Einstein manifolds as exact vacuum solutions,and can be ghost-free and tachyon-free around maximally symmetric Einstein *** is also shown that the entropy for spherically symmetric black holes in f(Ricci)gravity calculated via the Wald method and the boundary Noether charge approach are in good agreement.

Inspired by natural photosynthesis, a new series of Z-scheme Cd_xZn_(1-x)S/Au/g-C_3N_4 photocatalysts were synthesized via depositing Au particles on g-C_3N_4, followed by anchoring CdxZn_(1-x)S solid solution on the pre-formed Au/g-C_3N_4 for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution. Their structure, morphology and optical property were investigated in detail. Photocatalytic activities of the developed photocatalysts for water splitting were evaluated under visible-light irradiation(k > 420 nm) using glucose as electron *** highest hydrogen evolution rate of 123 lmol g^(-1)h^(-1)is achieved by Cd_(0.8Z)n_(0.2)S/Au/g-C_3N_4, which is 52.2 and 8.63 times higher than that of Au/g-C_3N_4 and Cd S/Au/g-C_3N_4, respectively. The results of photoluminescence spectra, photoelectrochemical and time-resolved photoluminescence spectra indicate that the improved photocatalytic activities for Cd_xZn_(1-x)S/Au/g-C_3N_4 are due to the efficient separation of photogenerated carriers. In addition, it is noteworthy that the undesired byproducts CO and CO_2 are greatly reduced by introducing CdxZn_(1-x)S over Au/g-C_3N_4 surface. In the photocatalytic process, gluconic acid originated from the reaction of photogenerated hydroxyl radical with glucose plays a vital role on suppressing the formation of the gas byproducts. The present work will provide a new strategy to design Z-scheme photocatalysts with enhanced efficiency for water splitting along with suppressing the byproducts.

Engineering the electronic properties of semiconductor-based photocatalysts using elemental doping is an effective approach to improve their catalytic ***,there still remain contradictions regarding the role of the dopants played in ***,ultrathin ZnIn_(2)S_(4)(ZIS) nanosheets with oxygen doping were synthesized by a one-pot solvothermal ***,XPS and Raman spectral measurements support the presence of lattice oxygen in the oxygen-doped ZIS(O-ZIS) *** optimum doping of oxygen,the ultrathin O-ZIS nanosheets show enhanced CO_(2)-to-CO conversion activity with a CO_(2)-evolving rate of 1680 μmol h^(-1) g^(-1) under visible light irradiation,which is about 7 times higher than that of the pristine ***-principle calculations support that doping of oxygen in the lattice of ZnIn_(2)S_(4) nanosheets plays a key role in tuning its electronic *** remarkable photocatalytic performance of O-ZIS can be assigned to a synergistic consequence of a unique ultrathin-layered structure and an upward shift of the conduction band minimum(CBM) caused by the oxygen doping into ZIS and the quantum confinement effect(QCE) induced by the decreased particle size after doping as well as to the improved charge separation *** present work offers a simple elemental doping method to promote charge separation at atomic level and illustrates the roles played by oxygen doping in photocatalysis,giving new insights into highly efficient artificial photosynthesis.

Oxygen vacancy induced photothermal effect is of great significant but lack of adequate attentions for environmental *** this paper,green recyclable ZnO/ZnFe_(2)O_(4) with oxygen vacancy was prepared by a solvothermal-calcination *** UV-vis light capture ability of ZnO/ZnFe_(2)O_(4) microspheres is improved with the multiple light reflections due to the yolk-shell structure,and the oxygen vacancy expands the absorption range of photocatalyst and enhances photothermal *** optimized photocatalyst can heat the solution from room temperature to 70°C within 60 min of visible light illumination,and the light to heat conversion efficiency is achieved by 61.3%.Compared with the degradation efficiency at 20°C,photothermal catalysis achieves a stable degradation in 80 min,and the degradation efficiency is increased by 41.5%.This can be attributed to the fact that light induced thermal energy accelerates the migration of electrons and holes,and promotes the diffusion of free radicals by heating active centers in *** active species contributing to the degradation,in order of importance,are the superoxide radical,hydroxyl radical,hole and *** light-to-thermal assisted photocatalysis with ZnO/ZnFe_(2)O_(4) provides a new sight for the pollution control in the future practical applications.
