Kinetic study and DFT calculation on the tetracycline abatement by peracetic acid

Water contamination by tetracycline(TC)has emerged as an environmental concern owing to its widespread use and antibiotic *** of peracetic acid(PAA)in the water and wastewater treatment has recently been proposed and demonstrated to be effective for TC abatement,yet the underlying reaction kinetics between the PAA and TC are not yet *** explore the reaction kinetics,the effect of solution pH on TC abatement by PAA is studied and the species-specific rate constants are *** ability to donate and accept electrons for different species of TC and PAA is evaluated via density functional theory(DFT)*** pH-dependent apparent second-order rate constants of TC abatement by PAA exhibits the parabolic shape with the maximum at p H 8.5(9.75 L mol^(-1)s^(-1)).This phenomenon is closely related to the speciation of TC and PAA,in which the reaction between PAAH and TTC^(2-)possesses the highest species-specific rate constants according to the kinetic *** DFT calculations suggest that the HOMO of TTCH^(+),TTC,TTC^(-),TTC^(2-)and the LUMO of PAAH and PAA-are–6.40,–6.26,–5.10,–4.94 e V and–0.24,0.60 e V,*** to the DFT calculations,deprotonation of TC and PAA leads to an increase of the HOMO value of TC and the LUMO value of ***,the HOMOTC–LUMOPAAvalues is in good agreement with the trend of species-specific rate constants,which can be used to evaluate the reactivity between PAA and TC with different *** study provides the kinetic data and theoretical basis for the reaction of PAA and TC,which is critical for the application of PAA in the treatment of water and wastewater.

Microstructure Recrystallization and Mechanical Properties of a Cold-Rolled TiNbZrTaHf Refractory High-entropy Alloy

The equiatomic TiNbZrTaHf alloy was successfully rolled at room temperature with the reduction of ~ 85%. The microstructure and tensile properties were investigated after cold working and annealing. It was determined that the recrystallization temperature of the TiNbZrTaHf alloy between 850 and 900 ℃. Complete recrystallization and normal grain growth occurred, the high stability of single phase was maintained after annealing at 1000, 1200, and 1400 ℃. But the precipitated phase appeared after long term annealing, as seen after 500 h at 1000 ℃. After cold working, the tensile strength and the elongation of TiNbZrTaHf were 1137 MPa and 25.1%, respectively. The annealed alloy has a high tensile strength (σ_(b )= 863 MPa) and ductility (ε_(e )= 28.5%). Moreover, the oxidation of TiNbZrTaHf alloy at elevated temperatures has a significant impact on its mechanical properties. The poor oxidation resistance of TiNbZrTaHf can accelerate tensile failure by inducing fractures at grain boundaries.

Kink oscillations,which are frequently observed in coronal loops and prominences,are often accompanied by extreme-ultraviolet(eUV)***,much more needs to be explored regarding the causal relationships between kink oscillations and eUV *** this article,we report the simultaneous detection of kink oscillations and eUV waves that are both associated with an X2.1 flare on 2023 March 03(SOL2023-03-03T17:39).The kink oscillations,which are almost perpendicular to the axes of loop-like structures,are observed in three coronal loops and one *** short loop shows in-phase oscillation within the same period of 5.2 min at three *** oscillation could be triggered by the pushing of an expanding loop and interpreted as the standing kink *** lags are found between the kink oscillations of the short loop and two long loops,suggesting that the kink wave travels in different *** kink oscillations of one long loop and the prominence are possibly driven by the disturbance of the coronal mass ejection(CMe),and that of another long loop might be attributed to the interaction of the eUV *** onset time of the kink oscillation of the short loop is nearly same as the beginning of an eUV *** fact demonstrates that they are almost *** eUV wave is most likely excited by the expanding loop structure and shows two *** leading component is a fast coronal wave,and the trailing one could be due to the stretching magnetic field lines.

Gradient sparsification for efficient wireless federated learning with differential privacy

Federated learning(FL) enables distributed clients to collaboratively train a machine learning model without sharing raw data with each other. However, it suffers from the leakage of private information from uploading models. In addition, as the model size grows, the training latency increases due to the limited transmission bandwidth and model performance degradation while using differential privacy(DP)protection. In this paper, we propose a gradient sparsification empowered FL framework with DP over wireless channels, to improve training efficiency without sacrificing convergence performance. Specifically, we first design a random sparsification algorithm to retain a fraction of the gradient elements in each client’s local model, thereby mitigating the performance degradation induced by DP and reducing the number of transmission parameters over wireless channels. Then, we analyze the convergence bound of the proposed algorithm, by modeling a non-convex FL problem. Next, we formulate a time-sequential stochastic optimization problem for minimizing the developed convergence bound, under the constraints of transmit power, the average transmitting delay, as well as the client’s DP requirement. Utilizing the Lyapunov drift-plus-penalty framework, we develop an analytical solution to the optimization problem. extensive experiments have been implemented on three real-life datasets to demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm. We show that our proposed algorithms can fully exploit the interworking between communication and computation to outperform the baselines, i.e., random scheduling, round robin, and delay-minimization algorithms.

Self-Triggered Set Stabilization of Boolean Control Networks and Its Applications

Set stabilization is one of the essential problems in engineering systems, and self-triggered control(STC) can save the storage space for interactive information, and can be successfully applied in networked control systems with limited communication resources. In this study, the set stabilization problem and STC design of Boolean control networks are investigated via the semi-tensor product technique. On the one hand, the largest control invariant subset is calculated in terms of the strongly connected components of the state transition graph, by which a graph-theoretical condition for set stabilization is derived. On the other hand, a characteristic function is exploited to determine the triggering mechanism and feasible controls. Based on this, the minimum-time and minimum-triggering open-loop, state-feedback and output-feedback STCs for set stabilization are designed,respectively. As classic applications of self-triggered set stabilization, self-triggered synchronization, self-triggered output tracking and self-triggered output regulation are discussed as well. Additionally, several practical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of theoretical results.
