Survival Analysis of Patients Undergoing Intraoperative Contrast-enhanced Ultrasound in the Surgical Treatment of Malignant Glioma

Objective:Complete resection of malignant gliomas is often *** previous study indicated that intraoperative contrast-enhanced ultrasound(ICEUS)could aid in the detection of residual tumor remnants and the total removal of brain *** study aimed to investigate the survival rates of patients undergoing resection with or without the use of ICEUS and to assess the impact of ICEUS on the prognosis of patients with malignant ***:A total of 64 patients diagnosed with malignant glioma(WHO grade HI and IV)who underwent surgery between 2012 and 2018 were *** them,29 patients received *** effects of ICEUS on overall survival(OS)and progression-free survival(PFS)of patients were evaluated.A quantitative analysis was performed to compare ICEUS parameters between gliomas and the surrounding ***:The ICEUS group showed better survival rates both in OS and PFS than the control *** univariate analysis revealed that age,pathology and ICEUS were significant prognostic factors for PFS,with only age being a significant prognostic factor for *** multivariate analysis,age and ICEUS were significant prognostic factors for both OS and *** quantitative analysis showed that the intensity and transit time of microbubbles reaching the tumors were significantly different from those of microbubbles reaching the surrounding ***:ICEUS facilitates the identification of residual *** and ICEUS are prognostic factors for malignant glioma surgery,and use of ICEUS offers a better prognosis for patients with malignant glioma.

This editorial discusses the article“Analysis of the impact of immunotherapy efficacy and safety in patients with gastric cancer and liver metastasis”published in the latest edition of the World Journal of Gastrointestinal *** has achieved outstanding success in tumor ***,the presence of liver metastasis(LM)restrains the efficacy of immunotherapy in various tumors,including lung cancer,colorectal cancer,renal cell carcinoma,melanoma,and gastric cancer.A decrease in CD8+T cells and nature killer cells,along with an increase in macrophages and regulatory T cells,was observed in the microenvironment of LM,leading to immunotherapy *** studies are necessary to determine the best strategy for enhancing the effectiveness of immunotherapy in patients with LM.

Patterns and trends in asthma incidence rates in main Asian and Western countries and their prediction to 2030

Background:The urbanization and industrialization of East and Southeast Asia in decades past has significantly altered living environment and lifestyles,which may have complicated effects on the burden of *** aim to examine the patterns and trends of asthma incidence rates in six major East and Southeast Asian countries as well as five major Western countries,and predict the numbers of new cases attributed to various ***:Data on annual asthma incident cases and corresponding population by age group were drawn from 6 major selected East and Southeast Asian countries available in the Global Burden of Disease database,including China,Japan,Korea,Singapore,Philippines,and *** also collected data of five major high-income Western countries for comparative *** separate Bayesian age–period–cohort models,representing pre-COVID(model 1)and post-COVID(model 2)scenarios,were constructed to predict the asthma incidence until ***:In model 1,the age-standardized incidence rate of asthma will be the highest in the US(1970.07 per 100,000,95%confidence interval[CI]533.05–4455.03),while the lowest incidence rate will be found in Singapore(296.72 per 100,000,95%CI 135.16–899.55)in *** 1990 and 2030,the incidence of asthma is projected to increase in China and Thailand,with average annual percentages changes(AAPC)ranging from 0.70%to 1.80%.The remaining four Asian countries show a declining trend,with AAPC ranging from-0.51%to-2.00%.In model 2,the US is estimated to have the highest age-standardized incidence rate(902.71 per 100,000,95%CI 375.44–2277.24),while Korea will have the lowest incidence rate(176.46 per 100,000,95%CI 58.77–512.09)in 2030.A decrease in asthma incidence was observed in all countries with the overall AAPC ranging from-3.42%to-0.42%.Notably,a turning point was found around 2020,after which the incidence rates dropped ***:Pandemic-related factors may temporarily lower the incidence of asthma

近年来,薄膜铌酸锂光子集成技术发展极为迅速,其背后有着深刻的物理、材料、技术原因。单晶薄膜铌酸锂为解决光子集成芯片领域长期存在的低传输损耗、高密度集成以及低调制功耗需求提供了至今为止综合性能最优的解决方案。面向未来的新一代高速光电器件与超大规模光子集成芯片应用,本文回顾了薄膜铌酸锂光子技术的起源及其近期的快速发展,讨论了若干薄膜铌酸锂光子结构的加工技术,并展示了一系列当前性能最优的薄膜铌酸锂光子集成器件与系统,包括超低损耗可调光波导延时线、超高速光调制器、高效率量子光源,以及高功率片上放大器与片上激光器。这些器件以其体积小、质量轻、功耗低、性能好的综合优势,将对整个光电子产业产生难以估量的影响。

Objective Studies have shown that electroacupuncture(EA)can alleviate cognitive impairments from Alzheimer’s disease(AD)by regulating the expression of adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase(AMPK),but the specific mechanism involved remains to be ***,this study explores the potential mechanism by which EA improves cognitive function from the perspective of mitochondrial *** The four-month-old transgenic mice with amyloid precursor protein(APP)/presenilin 1(PS1)and AMPKα1-subunit conditional knockout(AMPKα1-cKO)were used for *** evaluate the effects of EA treatment on cognitive function,the T-maze and Morris water maze were *** addition,chemical exchange saturation transfer,thioflavin staining,transmission electron microscopy,mitochondrial membrane potential,and Western blotting were used to examine the potential mechanisms underlying the effects of EA on APP/PS1 *** Both APP/PS1 mice and AMPKα1-cKO mice exhibited dysfunction in mitochondrial dynamics accompanied by learning and memory *** of the AMPK/peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γcoactivator-1α(PGC-1α)pathway increased pathological amyloid-β(Aβ)deposition and aggravated the dysfunction in mitochondrial *** addition,EA rescued learning and memory deficits in APP/PS1 mice by activating the AMPK/PGC-1αpathway,specifically by reducing pathological Aβdeposition,normalizing energy metabolism,protecting the structure and function of mitochondria,increasing the levels of mitochondrial fusion proteins,and downregulating the expression of fission ***,the therapeutic effect of EA on cognition in APP/PS1 mice was hindered by AMPKα1 *** The regulation of hippocampal mitochondrial dynamics and reduction in Aβdeposition via the AMPK/PGC-1αpathway are critical for the ability of EA to ameliorate cognitive impairment in APP/PS1 mice.

Association between heat and upper urinary tract stones morbidity and medical costs: A study in the subtropical humid climate zone

Urolithiasis is a heat-specific *** heat-related urolithiasis susceptibility subtypes,economic burden,and modifying factors could assist governments in targeting interventions to reduce the heat-related health risks of urolithiasis *** collected data on 23,492 patients with upper urinary tract stones(main subtypes of urolithiasis)from 2013 to 2017 in Nanjing,*** adopted generalized additive quasi-Poisson models to examine the associations between daily mean temperatures and morbidity of upper urinary tract stones,while generalized additive Gaussian models were used to explore the relationships between temperatures and log-transformed medical *** examined the modification effects of disease subtypes(kidney and ureteral calculus),sex,and age through stratified analyses and the modif-cation effects of other meteorological factors by introducing interaction terms in the *** found that short-term summer heat exposure has a statistically significant effect on ureteral calculus morbidity but not on kidney calculus *** ureter calculus,a 1℃ temperature increase was associated with a 4.36%(95%confidence interval[CI]:1.94%,6.83%)increase in daily hospitalization and a 5.44%(95%CI:2.71%,8.25%)increase in daily medical *** attributable fraction associated with heat(greater than the median value of daily mean temperature,26.8℃)was 7.85%(95%empirical confidence interval[eCI]:3.64%,11.44%)for hospitalization and 9.36%(95%eCI:4.91%,13.14%)for medical *** effects of heat on ureter calculus morbidity were significantly higher among the males and those with high sunshine duration than females and those with low sunshine ***-term summer heat exposure was associated with increased morbidity and medical costs of ureteral *** government organizations should take effective intervention measures,including community health education,to reduce the health hazards and economic losses caused by heat.

The RFI Fast Mitigation Algorithm Based on Block LMS Filter
