Characteristics of gravity and magnetic fields and deep structural responses in the southern part of the Kyushu-Palau Ridge

The southern part of the Kyushu-Palau Ridge(KPR)is located at the conjunction of the West Philippine Basin,the Parece Vela Basin,the Palau Basin,and the Caroline *** area has extremely complex structures and is critical for the research on the tectonic evolution of marginal seas in the Western Pacific ***,only few studies have been completed on the southern part,and the geophysical fields and deep structures in this part are not well *** this,this study finely depicts the characteristics of the gravity and magnetic anomalies and extracts information on deep structures in the southern part of the KPR based on the gravity and magnetic data obtained from the 11th expedition of the deep-sea geological survey of the Western Pacific Ocean conducted by the Guangzhou Marine Geological Survey,China Geological Survey using the R/V Haiyangdizhi ***,with the data collected on the water depth,sediment thickness,and multichannel seismic transects as constraints,a 3D density model and Moho depths of the study area were obtained using 3D density *** results are as follows.(1)The gravity and magnetic anomalies in the study area show distinct zoning and *** detail,the gravity and magnetic anomalies to the south of 11°N of the KPR transition from high-amplitude continuous linear positive anomalies into low-amplitude intermittent linear positive *** contrast,the gravity and magnetic anomalies to the north of 11°N of the KPR are discontinuous and show alternating positive and negative *** anomalies can be divided into four sections,of which the separation points correspond well to the locations of deep faults,thus,revealing different field-source attributes and tectonic genesis of the KPR.(2)The Moho depth in the basins in the study area is 6-12 *** Moho depth in the southern part of KPR show ***,the depth is 10‒12 km to the north of 11°N,12‒14 km from 9.5°N to 11°N,14-16 km from

Multi boron-doping effects in hard carbon toward enhanced sodium ion storage

Hard carbon (HC) has been considered as promising anode material for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs).The optimization of hard carbon’s microstructure and solid electrolyte interface (SEI) property are demonstrated effective in enhancing the Na+storage capability,however,a one-step regulation strategy to achieve simultaneous multi-scale structures optimization is highly ***,we have systematically investigated the effects of boron doping on hard carbon’s microstructure and interface chemistry.A variety of structure characterizations show that appropriate amount of boron doping can increase the size of closed pores via rearrangement of carbon layers with improved graphitization degree,which provides more Na+storage ***-situ Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy/electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (FTIR/EIS) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis demonstrate the presence of more BC3and less B–C–O structures that result in enhanced ion diffusion kinetics and the formation of inorganic rich and robust SEI,which leads to facilitated charge transfer and excellent rate *** a result,the hard carbon anode with optimized boron doping content exhibits enhanced rate and cycling *** general,this work unravels the critical role of boron doping in optimizing the pore structure,interface chemistry and diffusion kinetics of hard carbon,which enables rational design of sodium-ion battery anode with enhanced Na+storage performance.

The development of flexible supercapacitors(FSCs) capable of operating at high temperatures is crucial for expanding the application areas and operating conditions of supercapacitors. Gel polymer electrolytes and electrode materials stand as two key components that significantly impact the efficacy of hightemperature-tolerant FSCs(HT-FSCs). They should not only exhibit high electrochemical performance and excellent flexibility, but also withstand intense thermal stress. Considerable efforts have been devoted to enhancing their thermal stability while maintaining high electrochemical and mechanical performance. In this review, the fundamentals of HT-FSCs are outlined. A comprehensive overview of state-of-the-art progress and achievements in HT-FSCs, with a focus on thermally stable gel polymer electrolytes and electrode materials is provided. Finally, challenges and future perspectives regarding HT-FSCs are discussed, alongside strategies for elevating operational temperatures and *** review offers both theoretical foundations and practical guidelines for designing and manufacturing HT-FSCs, further promoting their widespread adoption across diverse fields.

A Dibenzo-18-crown-6-based Symmetric Dual-coumarin Lead Ion Fluorescent Probe and Its Imaging in Living Cells

Herein,a turn-on fluorescent probe for the detection of lead ions was developed using 7-diethylaminocoumarin as the fluorophore and dibenzo-18-crown-6 as the recognition *** response performance to lead ions was systematically *** probe showed specific selectivity and high sensitivity to lead ions,with fluorescence intensity at 496 nm increasing linearly with lead ion concentration(R^(2)=0.995)over the range of 1.0×10^(−7)–1.0×10^(−6)mol/L,and an LOD of 11.4 nmol/***’s plot revealed that the probe forms a 1:1 stoichiometry complex with lead ions during the recognition ***,the sensing mechanism of the probe was confirmed by density functional theory calculations,indicating that the recognition mechanism is based on photoinduced electron transfer(PET).The introduction of lead ions blocks PET,resulting in fluorescence ***,it was applied in the detection of practical water samples and bioimaging,demonstrating high application value in the field of chemosensors.

Critical new insights into the interactions of hexafluoropropylene oxide-dimer acid(GenX or HFPO-DA)with albumin at molecular and cellular levels

A key characteristic to be elucidated,to address the harmful health risks of environmental perfluorinated alkyl substances(PFAS),is their binding modes to serum albumin,the most abundant protein in *** oxide-dimer acid(GenX or HFPO-DA)is a new industrial replacement for the widespread linear long-chain ***,the detailed interaction of new-generation short-chain PFAS with albumin is still ***,the binding characteristics of bovine serum albumin(BSA)to GenX were explored at the molecular and cellular *** found that this branched short-chain GenX could bind to BSA with affinity lower than that of legacy linear long-chain perfluorooctanoic acid(PFOA).Site marker competitive study and molecular docking simulation revealed that GenX interacted with subdomain IIIA to form BSA-GenX *** with its weaker affinity to albumin protein,the cytotoxicity of branched short-chain GenX was less susceptible to BSA binding compared with that of the linear long-chain *** contrast to the significant effects of strong BSA-PFOA interaction,the weak affinity of BSA-GenX binding did not influence the structure of protein and the cytotoxicity of *** detailed characterization and direct comparisons of serum albumin interaction with new generation short-chain GenX will provide a better understanding for the toxicological properties of this new alternative.

Despite the availability of effective antibacterial drugs, the increasing prevalence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria is primarily attributed to their excessive and inappropriate utilization. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) represents one of the most concerning global health and development threats [1]. Thereby, the continuous escalation in AMR necessitates urgent advancements in novel antibacterial strategies. The MraY enzyme, which plays a pivotal role in synthesizing bacterial cell wall-composing polysaccharides, holds significant potential as a target for antibacterial agents [2]. However, its conformational dynamics have presented substantial challenges in developing MraY-targeting inhibitors.

Increase in the variability of terrestrial carbon uptake in response to enhanced future ENSO modulation

El Niño-Southern Oscillation(ENSO)is a major driver of climate change in middle and low latitudes and thus strongly influences the terrestrial carbon cycle through land-air *** the ENSO modulation and carbon flux variability are projected to increase in the future,but their connection still needs further *** investigate the impact of future ENSO modulation on carbon flux variability,this study used 10 CMIP6 earth system models to analyze ENSO modulation and carbon flux variability in middle and low latitudes,and their relationship,under different scenarios simulated by CMIP6 *** results show a high consistency in the simulations,with both ENSO modulation and carbon flux variability showing an increasing trend in the *** higher the emissions scenario,especially SSP5-8.5 compared to SSP2-4.5,the greater the increase in *** flux variability in the middle and low latitudes under SSP2-4.5 increases by 30.9%compared to historical levels during 1951-2000,while under SSP5-8.5 it increases by 58.2%.Further analysis suggests that ENSO influences mid-and low-latitude carbon flux variability primarily through *** occurrence may potentially be attributed to the increased responsiveness of gross primary productivity towards regional temperature fluctuations,combined with the intensified influence of ENSO on land surface temperatures.

Transforming waste particles into valuable adsorbents via amyloid-mediated molecular engineering

The high-value utilization of industrial solid waste using a facile and eco-friendly process is of great interest and significance in reducing environmental pollution and developing a green circular ***,we propose an amyloid-mediated molecular engineering strategy to transform particulate waste into valuable adsorbents for metal *** method has the advantage of aqueous solution fabrication under mild conditions without the use of high-temperature hydrothermal methods and toxic chemical ***-mediated molecular engineering manipulates the phase transition of bovine serum albumin(BSA)on particulate waste surfaces,resulting in a remarkable~3.1 times improvement in the adsorption capacity of fly ash,a typical industrial solid waste for gold ions after modification with the phase-transitioned BSA(PTB).The resultant adsorption ability was 69–1,980 times higher than those of conventional and emerging adsorbent materials such as ion exchange resins,activated carbon(AC),covalent organic frameworks(COFs),and metal-organic frameworks(MOFs).We further demonstrated the application of our PTB-modified materials in the recovery of precious metals from low-grade gold ore and electronic waste ***,this strategy could increase the value of waste materials nearly 27 *** addition,this method is generally extendable to other conventional industrial adsorbents such as resin,clay,and Al_(2)O_(3),and enhances their adsorption capabilities at least ***,this work provides a simple and green approach for improving the adsorption performance of solid particles,and is expected to develop into a universal strategy for transforming waste particles into high-value-added products.
