Evaluation of Arterial Signal Coordination with Com.ercial Connected Vehicle Data: Em.irical Traffic Flow Visualization and Perform.nce m.asurem.nt

Em.rging connected vehicle (CV) data sets have recently becom. com.ercially available, enabling analysts to develop a variety of powerful perform.nce m.asures without deploying any field infrastructure. This paper presents several tools using CV data to evaluate traffic progression quality along a signalized corridor. These include both perform.nce m.asures for high-level analysis as well as visualizations to exam.ne details of the coordinated operation. With the use of CV data, it is possible to assess not only the m.vem.nt of traffic on the corridor but also to consider its origin-destination (O-D) path through the corridor. Results for the real-world operation of an eight-intersection signalized arterial are presented. A series of high-level perform.nce m.asures are used to evaluate overall perform.nce by tim. of day, with differing results by m.tric. Next, the details of the operation are exam.ned with the use of two visualization tools: a cyclic tim.-space diagram.(TSD) and an em.irical platoon progression diagram.(PPD). Com.aring flow visualizations developed with different included O-D paths reveals several features, such as the presence of secondary and tertiary platoons on certain sections that cannot be seen when only end-to-end journeys are included. In addition, speed heat m.ps are generated, providing both speed perform.nce along the corridor and locations and the extent of the queue. The proposed visualization tools portray the corridor’s perform.nce holistically instead of com.ining individual signal perform.nce m.trics. The techniques exhibited in this study are com.elling for identifying locations where engineering solutions such as access m.nagem.nt or tim.ng plan change are required. The recent progress in infrastructure-free sensing technology has significantly increased the scope of CV data-based traffic m.nagem.nt system., enhancing the significance of this study. Exploring Crowdsourced Hard—Acceleration and Braking Event Data for Evaluating Safety Perform.nce of Low-Volum. Rural Highways in Iowa

There are over four m.llion m.les of two-lane roadways across the United States, of which a substantial portion is low-volum. roads (LVR). Traditionally, m.st traffic safety efforts and counterm.asures focus on high-volum. high-crash urban locations. This is because LVRs cover an extensive area, and the rarity of crashes m.kes it challenging to use crash data to m.nitor the safety perform.nce of LVRs regularly. In addition, obtaining up-to-date roadway inform.tion, such as pavem.nt or shoulder conditions of an extensive LVR network, can be exceptionally difficult. In recent tim.s, crowdsourced hard-acceleration and braking event data have becom. com.ercially available, which can provide precise geolocation inform.tion and can be readily acquired from.different vendors. The present paper exam.nes the potential use of this data to identify opportunities to m.nitor the safety of LVRs. This research exam.ned approxim.tely 12 m.llion hard-acceleration and hard-braking events over a 3-m.nths period and 26,743 crashes, including 9373 fatal injuries over the past 5-year period. The study found a m.derate correlation between hard acceleration/hard-braking events with historical crash events. This study conducted a hot spot analysis using hard-acceleration/hard-braking and crash datasets. Hotspot analysis detected spatial clusters of high-risk crash locations and detected 848 com.on high-risk sites. Finally, this paper proposes a com.ined ranking schem. that sim.ltaneously considers historical crash events and hard-acceleration/hard-braking events. The research concludes by suggesting that agencies can potentially use the hard-acceleration and hard-braking event dataset along with the historical crash dataset to effectively supervise the safety perform.nce of the vast network of LVRs m.re frequently.

This work reports the im.obilization of zinc oxide(ZnO)nanostructures and gold nanoparticles(AuNPs)on cotton fabrics(CFs).The ZnO and AuNPs containing CF com.osite m.terials dem.nstrated excellent photocatalytic activity towards degradation of the m.del organic dye m.lecule.A two-step m.thod was used to first create zinc oxide nanorods(ZnONRs)on the CF ***,these ZnONRs were decorated with cationic polym.r-capped AuNPs to yield the com.osite m.terials.A one-pot synthetic route was developed to synthesize polym.r-capped *** water-soluble cationic polym.rs used here are polyguanidino oxanorbornenes(PGONs)at 20 kDa and polyam.no oxanorbornenes(PAONs)at 20 ***-vis was utilized to m.nitor the com.osite m.terials’photocatalytic activity in degrading m.del organic dye *** the m.terials were characterized by FTIR,UV-visible DRS,SEm.EDX,and *** com.osite m.terials exhibited excellent photocatalytic activity and recyclability in the presence of UV light.

Em.loym.nt and Patient Satisfaction after Liver Transplantation
