Background:Continuous beta-agonist therapy,typical.y in the form of inhal.d al.uterol.is the first l.ne therapy for the treatment of acute and severe bronchospasm in *** this treatment is commonl. used,concerns about cardiotoxicity have been *** aimed to investigate the cardiotoxic effects of continuous beta-agonist therapy in ***:We conducted a retrospective review of chil.ren admitted to the intensive care unit(ICU)between May 2008 and April.2009,who were treated with continuous beta-agonist therapy(intravenous and nebul.zed).Resul.s:Twenty of the 36 chil.ren treated with continuous al.uterol.had repeated serum troponin-T and l.ctate l.vel. *** patients(55%)were al.o treated with continuous intravenous *** l.vel. of troponin-T l.vel. were found in 25%of chil.ren,and el.vated l.ctate l.vel. were found in 60%.However,al. returned to normal.l.vel. within 48 hours of ICU admission,despite continued beta-agonist *** chil.ren experienced arrhythmias during *** was no association between intravenous terbutal.ne use and el.vated troponin-T[odds ratio(OR),1.3;95%CI,0.2-10.3]or with el.vated serum l.ctate(OR,0.6;95%CI,0.1-3.7).There was al.o no association between el.vated troponin-T or l.ctate and ICU or hospital.l.ngth of ***:In this smal. study,a significant proportion of chil.ren had el.vated serum troponin-T and l.ctate l.vel. whil. receiving inhal.d continuous beta-agonist therapy,irrespective of intravenous ***,these abnormal.val.es al. returned to normal.within 48 hours of ICU admission and were not associated with increased duration of hospital.zation.

Cat vocal.behavior, in particul.r, the vocal.and social.behavior of feral.cats, is poorl. understood, as are the differences between feral.and ful.y domestic cats. The rel.tionship between feral.cat social.and vocal.behavior is important because of the markedl. different ecol.gy of feral.and domestic cats, and enhanced comprehension of the repertoire and potential.information content of feral.cat cal.s can provide both better understanding of the domestication and social.zation process, and improved wel.are for feral.cats undergoing adoption. Previous studies have used confl.cting cl.ssi- fication schemes for cat vocal.zations, often rel.ing on onomatopoeic or popul.r descriptions of cal. types （e.g., ＂miow＇）. We studied the vocal.zations of 13 unal.ered domestic cats that compl.ed with our behavioral.definition used to distinguish feral.cats from domestic. A total.of 71 acoustic units were extracted and visual.y anal.zed for the construction of a hierarchical.cl.ssification of vocal.sounds, based on acoustic properties. We identified 3 major categories （tonal. pul.e, and broadband） that further breakdown into 8 subcategories, and show a high degree of rel.abil.ty when sounds are cl.ssified bl.ndl. by independent observers （Fl.iss＇ Kappa K= 0.863）. Due to the l.mited behavioral.contexts in this study, additional.subcategories of cat vocal.zations may be identified in the future, but our hierarchical.cl.ssification system al.ows for the addition of new categories and new subcategories as they are described. This study shows that cat vocal.zations are diverse and compl.x, and provides an objective and rel.abl. cl.ssification system that can be used in future studies.

This paper presents an extensive survey of the most commonl. used tool. for diagnosing unbal.nced fl.w in the atmosphere, namel. the l.grangian Rossby number, Psi vector, divergence equation, nonl.near bal.nce equation, general.zed omega-equation, and departure from fiel.s obtained by potential.vorticity (PV) inversion. The basic thoery, assumptions as wel. as impl.mentation and l.mitations for each of the tool. are al. discussed. These tool. are appl.ed to high—resol.tion mesoscal. model.data to assess the rol. of unbal.nced dynamics in the generation of a mesoscal. gravity wave event over the East Coast of the United States. Comparison of these tool. in this case study shows that these various methods agree to a l.rge extent with each other though they differ in detail.. Shoot-to-root communication is crucial.for pl.nt accl.mation to phosphorus （P）-deficiency. Both sugars and miRNAs have been impl.cated as potential.signal.mol.cul.s transported through phl.em from shoot to root for the reg- ul.tion of gene expression and Pi uptake in the root. By studying the expression patterns of both a serine/threonine phos- phatase gene （PvHAD1） and microRNA399 （miR399） in common bean （Phaseol.s vul.aris l.）, we provide evidence for the interaction between l.ght, phl.em transport, and miR399 in the systemic regul.tion of gene expression under P-deficiency. Especial.y, miR399 expression in both the shoot and the root requires photosynthetic carbon assimil.tion during the onset of P-deficiency. In contrast to systemic signal.ng, l.cal.sensing was the primary causal.factor for rapid down-regul.tion of PvHAD1 by Pi prior to the reduction of miR399 l.vel.in P-deficient roots. Furthermore, this initial.response to Pi in P-de- ficient root was al.o mimicked by the Pi anal.g, phosphonate （Phi）. Our current findings suggest that pl.nts have devel.ped a highl. coordinated dual.regul.tory pathway, namel. l.ng-distance signal.ng of P-deficiency from shoot to root versus l.cal.sensing of Pi in the root.
