BACKGRoUND Gout is a disease characterized by hyperuricemia,and resultant deposition of uric acid crystals in *** typically manifested as intraarticular crystals or tophi,gout can also cause pathology at *** deposition within tendinous structures put them at risk for traumatic and degenerative ***,allografts can also be at risk of rupture in the setting of severe *** present the case of a 56-year-old female with severe gouty disease who sustained a re-rupture of a patellar tendon allograft *** SUMMARY A 56-year-old female presented to clinic after feeling her left knee pop and collapse beneath her while descending *** had a history of tophaceous gout and left patellar tendon rupture with reconstruction and multiple revisions over the course of 19 *** patient presented with pain and extensor lag.A magnetic resonance image demonstrated a ruptured patellar tendon allograft reconstruction and avulsion fracture at the tibial *** patient was treated with a novel intervention of Achilles allograft with bone block in a unique configuration with a dermal allograft incorporated into the *** was made non-weight bearing in the operative extremity in extension for the first four weeks postoperatively and was then progressed to active flexion over the course of eight *** twelve weeks,she was able to fully extend her operative knee and at five months she was resuming her normal activities and *** Failed patellar tendon reconstruction due to gouty infiltration is treated with dermal allograft augmented Achilles tendon reconstruction with bone block.

The design of heterostructured transition metal-based electrocatalysts with controlled composition and interfaces is key to increasing the efficiency of the water electrolysis and the elucidation of reaction *** this work,we report the synthesis of well-controlled vertically aligned Ni/Nio nanocomposites consisting of Ni nanoclusters embedded in Nio,which result in highly efficient electrocatalysts for overall water *** show that such a high catalytic efficiency toward both the hydrogen evolution reaction(her)and the oxygen evolution reaction(oER)originates from a synergetic effect at Ni/Nio interfaces that significantly reduces the energy barrier for water dissociation,and favours the formation of reactive H*intermediates on the Ni side of the interface,and oH_(ads) on the Nio side of the interface.A study of water chemisorption based on near-ambient pressure photoelectron spectroscopy indicates that the abundant hetero-interfaces in Ni/Nio nanocomposite promote the dissociation of water with a three-fold increase in the surface concentration of oH_(ads) compared with pure *** functional theory calculations indicate that Ni/Nio interface leads to the reduction of the water dissociation energy barrier due to a high concentration of oxygen vacancies at Nio side of the interface,whereas the formation of highly active metallic Ni sites with an optimal value of Gibbs free energy of H*(ΔG_(H*)=−0.16 eV)owes to a favourable adjustment of the electron energetics at the interface,thus accelerating the overall electrochemical water splitting.

Effect of restricted feeding on hen performance,egg quality and organ characteristics of individual laying hens

This study was to assess the impact of permanent or temporary restricted feeding on laying hen production traits,physiology,and egg *** hundred and forty individually housed ISA Brown hens were monitored across 2 phases,assigned to 3 treatments:ad libitum feeding(ALF),temporary restricted feeding(TRF)and permanent restricted feeding(PRF),n=80 hens per *** Phase 1(P1),22 to40 weeks,the TRF and PRF hens were offered 115 g of feed *** Phase 2(P2),41 to 46 weeks,the TRF hens were transitioned to ALF status while the ALF and PRF hens remained as in *** 35 to 40 weeks,eggs were collected once weekly from 15 hens per treatment and assessed for differences in albumen,yolk,and shell *** 45 weeks,10 hens each from the ALF and PRF groups were euthanized and differences in organ characteristics were *** P1,feed intake,feed to egg conversion ratio and body weight(BW)change were lower(Pher(Poth PRF and TRF hen treatments compared to hens allocated the ALF *** P2,TRF and ALF hens had a higher egg production and egg mass than PRF(Pher in TRF and similar in both ALF and PRF,while feed intake and feed conversion ratio were higher in TRF followed by ALF and least in the PRF treatment group(Pominal fat pad weight and fatty liver haemorrhagic syndrome lesion score compared to *** hens to 115 g of feed per day from point of lay restrained BW,improved feed conversion ratio and albumen quality and reduced abdominal fat pad deposition and clinical signs of fatty liver haemorrhagic syndrome in individually housed laying hens.

Biostratigraphy and palaeoenvironment of deposition of Nsukka Formation,Anambra Basin,southeastern Nigeria

Biostratigraphy investigation of Nsukka Formation was carried out by subjecting weLt cutting samples obtained from Nzam-1 weLL to patynotogicat studies with the view towards determining the relative geologic age and pataeoenvironment of deposition of the sediments. SampLes were treated in the Laboratory through digestion with hydrofluoric acid, sieving with 5 μm, oxidation with Nitric acid and mounting of the sLides into sections with DPX mountant. A fairLy high abundance and diversity of miospores were recovered, white the interval （847-1372 m） contains distinctive and diagnostic patynomorphs which are stratigraphicatty important. A Spinizonocolpites baculatus assemblage zone was established based on the basal occurrence of S. baculatus, Spinizonocolpites echinatus, Constructipollenites ineffectus, Periretisyncolpites sp. Periretisyncolpites giganteus, Monocolpites sp 1, Foveotriletes margaritae, Syncolporites marginatus, and Longapertites marginatus. The upper part of the intervat is marked by association of Anacolosidites luidonisis （at top）, Mauritiidites crassibaculatus, Retistephanocolpites williamsi, Proteacidites dehaani, Echitriporites trianguliformis, Proxapertites cursus, Retidiporites magdalenensis, S. baculatus, Retitricolpites gigeonetti, F. margaritae and Araucariadtes sp. The Nsukka Formation is dated as Late Maastrichtian based on the cooccurrence of recovered index fossits. Importantly, Cretaceous-Tertiary （K/T） boundary is marked by high fossil content in the Maastrichtian sediments compared to paucity in patynomorph that characterises the overtying Pateocene facies. Pataeoenvironment of the anatyzed section varies atternatety from marginaL marine to continental setting based on the presence of land-derived miospores and dinoflagettates.

Analysis of TESS Field Eclipsing Binary Star V948 her: A Pulsating or Non-pulsating Star?

Pulsating stars occupy a significant place in the H-R diagram and it was thought that all stars inside the classical instability strip should pulsate. However, recent studies showed that there are many non-pulsating stars located inside the classical instability strip. The existence of these non-pulsating stars is still a mystery. To deeply understand the properties of these non-pulsating and pulsating stars, one needs precise fundamental stellar parameters(e.g. mass).For this purpose, the eclipsing binaries are unique systems. Hence, in this study, we present the TESS data analysis of one candidate pulsating eclipsing binary system, V948 her. TESS data were used for the binary modeling with the literature radial velocity measurements, and the precise fundamental parameters of the system were obtained. The system’s age was derived as 1 ± 0.24 Gyr. The positions of the binary components in the H-R diagram were examined and the primary component was found inside the δ Scuti instability strip. However, in the frequency analysis of TESS data, we found no significant pulsation frequencies. only the harmonics of the orbital periods were obtained in the analysis. Therefore, the system was classified as a non-pulsator. V948 her is an important object to understand the nature of non-pulsating stars inside the δ Scuti instability strip.

Twitter is a well-known microblogging platform for rapid diffusion of views,ideas,and *** disasters,it has widely been used to communicate evacuation plans,distribute calls for help,and assist in damage *** reliability of such information is very important for decision-making in a crisis situation,but also difficult to *** is little research so far on the transferability of quality assessment methods from one geographic region to *** main contribution of this research is to study Twitter usage characteristics of users based in different geographic locations during *** examine tweeting activity during two earthquakes in Italy and *** compare the granularity of geographic references used,user profile characteristics that are related to credibility,and the performance of Naive Bayes models for classifying Tweets when used on data from a different region than the one used to train the *** results show similar geographic granularity for Myanmar and Italy earthquake events,but the Myanmar earthquake event has less information from locations nearby when compared to ***,there are significant and complex differences in user and usage characteristics,but a high performance for the Naive Bayes classifier even when applied to data from a different geographic *** research provides a basis for further research in credibility assessment of users reporting about disasters.

Seasonal variations and the influence of geomembrane liners on the levels of PBDEs in landfill leachates,sediment and groundwater in Gauteng Province,South Africa

In the present study,the seasonal concentrations of polybrominated diphenyl ethers(PBDEs)in leachate and sediment samples,and the influence of geomembrane liners on PBDE levels and the extent of their infiltration into groundwater on selected landfill sites in Gauteng Province,South Africa were *** and sediment samples were collected from seven operational landfill sites namely:Goudkoppies,Robinson Deep,Marie Louis,Soshanguve,onderstepoort,Hatherly and Garankuwa from Johannesburg and Pretoria,in winter and *** samples were collected from monitoring boreholes from two landfill ***-liquid and Soxhlet extraction techniques were employed for the extraction of leachate and groundwater,and sediment respectively using *** extracted samples were subjected to column clean up and,thereafter,analysed using gas chromatographyemass spectroscopy(GC-MS).PBDEs selected for the study were:BDE-17,-28,-47,-100,-99,-153,-154,-183 *** P9PBDE concentrations in leachate samples for winter and summer ranged from 0.316e1.36 ng L-1 and 0.560e1.08 ng L-1 *** P9 PBDE concentrations obtained for sediment in winter and summer were 3.00e4.91 ng g-1 and 2.50e3.71 ng g-1 *** samples exhibited higher(poncentrations for both leachate and sediment samples compared to summer *** trend was attributed to high precipitation rate in summer which may have infiltrated into the landfills,subsequently diluting the leachate and sediment *** contrast,the winter period is generally dry and PBDEs are,therefore,more likely to be *** concentrations of PBDEs in leachate and sediment samples were higher in landfill sites with geomembrane liners compared to those without *** samples taken from the vicinity of selected landfill sites without geomembrane liners exhibited high concentrations of P9PBDEs,indicating possible migration of PBDEs from landfill site into ***

The patriarchal leaning of most traditional African communities is sign-posted by certain behavioural models which place the woman at the receiving end of certain prejudices in our cultural milieu. Such prejudices manifest in diverse behavioural and relational manners that either peripheralize the woman or out-rightly remove every vestige of human dignity from her being. Language, being a significant carrier of our emotions, biases, beliefs, preference and prejudices, provides a crucial platform for the interrogation of the nature of gender relations and their consequences in any society, such consideration has forced a preponderance of scholarly interest in gender studies in arts and humanities. This study caries out a scholarly investigate into such gender inspired biases through the prison of Yoruba proverbs as a reflection of our cultural practices and beliefs about the position of the woman in a typical traditional Yoruba setting
