COVID-19 posed challenges for global tourism *** in visitor temporal and spatial patterns and their associated determinants pre-and peri-pandemic in Canadian Rocky Mountain National Parks are *** was collected through social media programming and analyzed using spatiotemporal analysis and a geographically weighted regression(GWR)*** highlight that COVID-19 significantly changed park visitation *** tended to explore more remote areas *** GWR model also indicated distance to nearby trails was a significant influence on visitor *** results indicate that the pandemic influenced tourism temporal and spatial *** research presents a novel approach using combined social media big data which can be extended to the field of tourism management,and has important implications to manage visitor patterns and to allocate resources efficiently to satisfy multiple objectives of park management.

Objective:Bone metastasis occurs in up to 90%of men with advanced prostate cancer and leads to fractures,severe pain and *** metastases induce a spectrum of types of bone lesions which can respond differently to therapy even within individual prostate cancer ***,the special environment of the bone makes the disease more complicated and incurable.A model in which bone lesions are reproducibly induced that mirrors the complexity seen in patients would be invaluable for pre-clinical testing of novel *** microstructural changes in the femurs of mice implanted with PCSD1,a new patient-derived xenograft from a surgical prostate cancer bone metastasis specimen,were ***:Quantitative micro-computed tomography(micro-CT)and histological analyses were performed to evaluate the effects of direct injection of PCSD1 cells or media alone(Control)into the right femurs of Rag2/gc/male ***:Bone lesions formed only in femurs of mice injected with PCSD1 *** volume(BV)was significantly decreased at the proximal and distal ends of the femurs(p<0.01)whereas BV(p<0.05)and bone shaft diameter(p<0.01)were significantly increased along the femur ***:PCSD1 cells reproducibly induced bone loss leading to osteolytic lesions at the ends of the femur,and,in contrast,induced aberrant bone formation leading to osteoblastic lesions along the femur ***,the interaction of PCSD1 cells with different bone region-specific microenvironments specified the type of bone *** approach can be used to determine if different bone regions support more therapy resistant tumor growth,thus,requiring novel treatments.

A Single Institutional Experience with Panitumumab in Metastatic Colorectal Cancer

Introduction: Panitumumab is an EGFR inhibitor approved for use in metastatic refractory colorectal cancer. It is unclear whether patients who have progressed on cetuximab may benefit from subsequent panitumumab therapy. This retrospective analysis was conducted to describe the experience at The Ohio State University with panitumumab including in patients who have progressed on cetuximab. Methods: Patients who received at least 1 dose of panitumumab between September 2006 and December 2011 were identified using the hospital’s pharmacy database. Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST) 1.1 was used to assess responses and Kaplan-Meier curves were used to estimate progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). Results: Eighty-seven patients (median age 61 years) were identified. Sixty-seven percent of patients had tumors with wild-type KRAS, 3.4% had tumors with mutated KRAS and the KRAS status was unknown in 29.9%. Twenty-four percent of the patients had an ECOG performance status of 2 or above and 59.8% of patients had received ≥ 2 prior lines of chemotherapy. Thirty-two percent of patients received single-agent panitumumab while 68% received it in combination with chemotherapy. Of the patients with KRAS wild-type tumors, 10 (17.2%) had objective responses (3 complete, 7 partial) and 26 (44.8%) had stable disease. Median PFS and OS were 5.0 and 9.0 months. The presence of a rash, improved ECOG performance status and coadministration with either irinotecan or FOLFIRI, led to a significantly better OS in univariate analysis. Among patients who had clinical benefit with cetuximab, 71% had subsequent clinical benefit with panitumumab therapy. Conclusions: In our single institution analysis of patients who received panitumumab, the number of prior lines of therapy did not significantly affect OS, suggesting that panitumumab retains its efficacy in the 2nd and 3rd line setting. Pancreatic cancer(PC)remains one of the most challenging diseases,with a very poor 5-year overall survival of around 11.5%.Kirsten rat sarcoma virus(KRAS)mutation is seen in 90%-95%of PC patients and plays an important role in cancer cell proliferation,differentiation,metabolism,and survival,making it an essential mutation for targeted *** extensive efforts in studying this oncogene,there has been little success in finding a drug to target this pathway,labelling it for decades as“undruggable”.In this article we summarize some of the efforts made to target the KRAS pathway in PC,discuss the challenges,and shed light on promising clinical trials.

The COVID-19 pandemic posed challenges to the tourism sector *** investigated changes in visitor demographics,satisfaction level,and its determinants pre-and *** were collected using questionnaire surveys in 2019 and 2021 within Banff National Park(BNP).The data analyses were based on a sample size of 1183 respondents by conducting factor analysis,correlation analysis and stepwise regression *** highlight that there were fewer international visitors and more local and domestic visitors during the *** attributes were evaluated at a higher satisfaction level *** quality of the Park facilities and services were the most important satisfaction determinants pre-and peri-COVID-19,and all the Park COVID-19 measures and actions received positive experience from *** research fills this knowledge gap by developing a better understanding in the change of visitor demographics and satisfaction level in BNP under the context of the *** also provides implication for both scholars and practitioners to understand the impacts of the pandemic on Park *** study can provide insights for utilizing the pandemic as a transformative strength and for mitigating its negative impact on tourism industry.

This paper studies a nonlinear least squares estimation method for the logarithmic autoregressive conditional duration（Log-ACD） model. We establish the strong consistency and asymptotic normality for our estimator under weak moment conditions suitable for applications involving heavy-tailed distributions. We also discuss inference for the Log-ACD model and Log-ACD models with exogenous variables. Our results can be easily translated to study Log-GARCH models. Both simulation study and real data analysis are conducted to show the usefulness of our results.

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in over 33 million confirmed cases and over 1 million deaths globally,as of 1 October *** the lockdown and restrictions placed on public activities and gatherings,green spaces have become one of the only sources of resilience amidst the coronavirus pandemic,in part because of their positive effects on psychological,physical and social cohesion and spiritual *** study analyzes the impacts of COVID-19 and government response policies to the pandemic on park visitation at global,regional and national levels and assesses the importance of parks during this global *** data we collected primarily from Google’s Community Mobility Reports and the Oxford Coronavirus Government Response *** results for most countries included in the analysis show that park visitation has increased since February 16th,2020 compared to visitor numbers prior to the COVID-19 *** on social gathering,movement,and the closure of workplace and indoor recreational places,are correlated with more visits to ***-at-home restrictions and government stringency index are negatively associated with park visits at a global *** from residents for parks and outdoor green spaces has increased since the outbreak began,and highlights the important role and benefits provided by parks,especially urban and community parks,under the COVID-19 *** provide recommendations for park managers and other decision-makers in terms of park management and planning during health crises,as well as for park design and *** particular,parks could be utilized during pandemics to increase the physical and mental health and social well-being of individuals.

Wheat powdery mildew(Blumeria graminis ***, Bgt) is a disease of increasing importance globally due to the adoption of high yielding varieties and modern sustainable farming *** resistant cultivars is a preferred approach to managing this disease, and novel powdery mildew resistance genes are urgently needed for new cultivar development.A genome-wide association study was performed on a panel of 1292 wheat landraces and historical cultivars using 5011 single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)*** association panel was evaluated for reactions to three Bgt inoculants, OKS(14)-B-3-1, OKS(14)-C-2-1, and *** disequilibrum(LD) analysis indicated that genome-wide LD decayed to 0.1 at 23 Mb, and population structure analysis revealed seven subgroups in the *** analysis using a mixed linear model(MLM) identified three loci for powdery mildew resistance on chromosome 2 B, designated ***-2BL1,***-2BL2, and *** evaluate the efficacy of GWAS in gene discovery,***-2BL2 was validated using F2 and F2:3 populations derived from PI420646 × *** analysis delimited the powdery mildew resistance gene in PI 420646 to an interval where ***-2BL2 was located, lending credence to the GWAS ***-2BL1 and ***-2BL3, which were associated with four SNPs located at 457.7–461.7 Mb and two SNPs located at 696.6–715.9 Mb in the Chinese Spring reference IWGSC RefSeq v1.0, respectively, are likely novel loci for powdery mildew resistance and can be used in wheat breeding to improve powdery mildew resistance.
