Experimental hybridization and reproductive isolation between two sympatric species of tephritid fruit flies in the Anastrepha fraterculus species group

Among tephritid fruit flies,hybridization has been found to produce local adaptation and speciation,and in the case of pest species,induce behavioral and ecological alterations that can adversely impact efficient pest *** species group within Anastrepha (Diptera:Tephritidae),is a rapidly radiating aggregate,which includes cryptic species complexes,numerous sister species,and several pest species. Molecular studies have highlighted the possibility of introgression between *** and *** isolation has been studied among morphotypes of the A. fraterculus species complex as a tool for species *** we examined the exis- tence and strength of prezygotic and postzygotic isolation between sympatric populations of two closely related species within the highly derivedfraterculus group (*** and ***),coexisting in *** adults of both species showed a strong tendency for assortative mating,a small proportion of hybrid pairings in both directions were *** also observed asymmetric postzygotic isolation,with one hybrid cross displaying a strong reduction in fecundity and F1 egg *** was greater for the progeny of homotypic and hybrid crosses in the maternal *** was a marked female biased sex ratio distortion for both F1 hybrid *** between *** and *** in nature may be difficult but possible;these two species display stronger reproductive isolation than all pairs of species previously examined in the *** species *** postzygotie isolation is suggestive of Wolbachia mediated cytoplasmic incompatibilities that may be exploited in area-wide pest management.

Background： Pancreatectomies have been identified as procedures with an increased risk of *** surgical patients, readmissions within 30 days of discharge are usually procedure-related. We sought to determine predictors of 30-day readmission following pancreatic resections in a large healthcare ***： We retrospectively collected information from the records of 383 patients who underwent pancreaticresections from 2004–2013. To find the predictors of readmission in the 30 days after discharge,we performed a univariate screen of possible variables using the Fisher’s exact test for categorical variables and the Mann–Whitney U test for continuous variables. Multivariate analysis was used to determinethe independent factors.

Background:The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of energy overfeeding during the dry period on adipose tissue transcriptome profiles during the periparturient period in dairy ***:Fourteen primiparous Holstein cows from a larger cohort receiving a higher-energy diet(1.62 Mcal of net energy for lactation/kg of dry matter;15%crude protein)for ad libitum intake to supply 150%(OVR)or 100%(CTR)of energy requirements from dry off until parturition were *** calving,all cows received the same lactation *** adipose tissue(SAT)biopsies were collected at−14,1,and 14d fromparturition(d)and used for transcriptome profiling using a bovine oligonucleotide *** mining of differentially expressed genes(DEG)between treatments and due to sampling time was performed using the Dynamic Impact Approach(DIA)and Ingenuity Pathway Analysis(IPA).Results:There was a strong effect of over-feeding energy on DEG with 2434(False discovery rate-corrected Ply 340 and 538 at 1 and 14 *** most-impacted and activated pathways in the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)database that were highlighted by DIA analysis at−14 d in OVR *** included 9 associated with carbohydrate metabolism,with‘Pyruvate metabolism’,‘Glycolysis/gluconeogenesis’,and‘Pentose phosphate pathway’among the *** surprisingly,OVR led to marked activation of lipid metabolism(e.g.‘Fatty acid biosynthesis’and‘Glycerolipid metabolism’).Unexpected metabolic pathways that were activated at−14 d in OVR included several related to metabolism of amino acids(*** chain)and of cofactors and vitamins(thiamin).Among endocrine and immune system pathways,at−14 d OVR led to marked activation of‘PPAR signalling’and‘Antigen processing and presentation’.Among key pathways affected over time in OVR,a number were related to translation(*** signaling),endocrine/immune signaling(CXCR4 and IGF1),and lipid metabolism(oxidative

在团簇科学中,搜索金属团簇的全局最小能量结构具有重要的意义.最近,深度神经网络结合迁移学习的全局优化方法被开发出来,以提高金属团簇结构的优化效率,该方法可以大幅减少训练深度神经网络所需的样本数量.为了进一步提高势能面的采样效率和深度神经网络结合迁移学习的全局优化方法的全局搜索能力,本文提出了一种将基因遗传算法嵌入到深度神经网络结合迁移学习中的全局优化方法.在Pt_(n)(n=9-15)团簇的全局优化中,该方法只需要深度神经网络结合迁移学习的全局优化方法一半的样本数量就能优化得到全局最优结构,同时节省了约70%~80%的计算成本,这表明全局搜索能力的显著提升。在Pt_(14)团簇势能面上的采样结果显示,该方法搜索到低能量的样本(占比25%)比深度神经网络结合迁移学习方法的样本(占比<1%)更多.在Pt_(16)和Pt_(17)团簇的全局最优结构搜索中,本文报道了文献中尚未报道的新结构,证明本论文建立的方法的可行性和先进性.

Spinal cord injury remains a major cause of disability in young adults,and beyond acute decompression and rehabilitation,there are no pharmacological treatments to limit the progression of injury and optimize recovery in this *** the thorough investigation of the complement system in triggering and propagating cerebral neuroinflammation,a similar role for complement in spinal neuroinflammation is a focus of ongoing *** this work,we survey the current literature investigating the role of complement in spinal cord injury including the sources of complement proteins,triggers of complement activation,and role of effector functions in the *** study relevant data demonstrating the different triggers of complement activation after spinal cord injury including direct binding to cellular debris,and or activation via antibody binding to damage-associated molecular *** effector functions of complement have been implicated in spinal cord injury,and we critically evaluate recent studies on the dual role of complement anaphylatoxins in spinal cord injury while emphasizing the lack of pathophysiological understanding of the role of opsonins in spinal cord *** this pathophysiological review,we systematically review the different translational approaches used in preclinical models of spinal cord injury and discuss the challenges for future translation into human *** review emphasizes the need for future studies to dissect the roles of different complement pathways in the pathology of spinal cord injury,to evaluate the phases of involvement of opsonins and anaphylatoxins,and to study the role of complement in white matter degeneration and regeneration using translational strategies to supplement genetic models.

The bZIP transcription factor ABSCISIC ACID INSENSITIVE5(ABI5)is a master regulator of seed germination and post-germinative growth in response to abscisic acid(ABA),but the detailed molecularmechanism by which it represses plant growth remains *** this study,we used proximity labeling to map the neighboring proteome of ABI5 and identified FCS-lIKE ZINC FINGER PROTEIN 13(FlZ13)as a novel ABI5 interaction *** analysis of flz13 mutants and FlZ13-overexpressing lines demonstrated that FlZ13 acts as a positive regulator of ABA *** analysis revealed that both FlZ13 and ABI5 downregulate the expression of ABA-repressed and growth-related genes involved in chlorophyll biosynthesis,photosynthesis,and cell wall organization,thereby repressing seed germination and seedling establishment in response to *** genetic analysis showed that FlZ13 and ABI5 function together to regulate seed ***,our findings reveal a previously uncharacterized transcriptional regulatorymechanismby which ABA mediates inhibition of seed germination and seedling establishment.

Efficient removal of the recalcitrant metamizole contaminant from drinking water by using a CalaCoO_(9) perovskite supported on recycled polyethylene

Metamizole(MZ)is a widely used anti-inflammatory *** to its common use,this contaminant is found in sewage and *** order to reduce the contamination produced by the MZ,we fabricated in this work a photocatalytic composite using recycled polyethylene(RPE)and the CalaCoO_(9)(lCCO)*** nanoparticles had a microplate-like morphology and sizes of 1.4–5.5μm according to the analysis of *** photocatalytic properties of the lCCO powders were evaluated under ultraviolet-visible(UV-Vis)irradiation and found a removal efficiency of 96%.When the RPE+lCCO composite was employed for the photocatalytic degradation of MZ,a maximum degradation of 92.5%was *** influence of the pH on the photocatalytic activity was also studied and found that an initial pH=3 produced a total degradation of MZ after 240 min of UV-Vis ***,three reuse cycles were carried out for the pure lCCO powders and for the RPE+lCCO composites and found that the maximum loss of degradation was 5%.Furthermore,scavenger experiments demonstrated that the super oxide and hydroxyl radicals are formed during the photocatalytic reaction and were responsible for the degradation of ***,the X-ray photoelectron-spectroscopy and Raman analysis demonstrated the formation of defects(oxygen vacancies),those ones delayed the electron-hole recombination,which in turn,enhanced the degradation of the ***,the studies performed in this work proved that composites made with recycled plastics and lCCO perovskites are a low-cost and feasible alternative for the cleaning of water sources polluted with pharmaceutical compounds.

Background:Traumatic pancreatic injuries are rare,and guidelines specifying management are controversial and difficult to apply in the acute clinical *** to sparse data on these injuries,we carried out a retrospective review to determine outcomes following surgical or non-surgical management of traumatic pancreatic *** hypothesize a higher morbidity and mortality rate in patients treated surgically when compared to patients treated ***:We performed a retrospective review of data from four trauma centers in New York from 1990–2014,comparing patients who had blunt traumatic pancreatic injuries who were managed operatively to those managed *** compared continuous variables using the Mann-Whitney U test and categorical variables using the chi-square and Fisher’s exact *** analysis was performed to determine the possible confounding factors associated with mortality in both treatment ***:Twenty nine patients were managed operatively and 32 *** was a significant difference between the operative and non-operative groups in median age(37.0 vs.16.2 years,P=0.016),grade of pancreatic injury(grade I;30.8 vs.85.2%,P value for all comparisonslood transfusion(55.2 vs.15.6%,P=0.0012),other abdominal injuries(79.3 vs.38.7%,P=0.0014),pelvic fractures(17.2 vs.0.00%,P=0.020),intensive care unit(ICU)admission(86.2 vs.50.0%,P=0.003),median length of stay(lOS)(16.0 vs.4.0 days,Plity(27.6 vs.3.1%,P=0.010).Conclusions:Patients with traumatic pancreatic injuries treated operatively were more severely injured and suffered greater complications than those treated *** greater morbidity and mortality associated with these patients warrants further study to determine optimal triage strategies and which subset of patients is likely to benefit from surgery.

Roles of SlETR7,a newly discovered ethylene receptor,in tomato plant and fruit development

Ethylene regulates many aspects of plant growth and *** is perceived by a family of ethylene receptors(ETRs)that have been well ***,a full understanding of ETR function is complicated by functional redundancy between the receptor ***,we characterize a new ETR,SlETR7,that was revealed by tomato genome ***7 expression in tomato fruit pericarp increases when the fruit ripens and its expression is synchronized with the expression of SlETR1,SlETR2,and SlETR5 which occurs later in the ripening phase than the increase observed for SlETR3,SlETR4,and *** uncovered an error in the SlETR7 sequence as documented in the ITAG 3 versions of the tomato genome which has now been corrected in ITAG 4,and we showed that it belongs to sub-family *** also showed that SlETR7 specifically binds ***(OE)of SlETR7 resulted in earlier flowering,shorter plants,and smaller fruit than wild ***-out(KO)mutants of SlETR7 produced more ethylene at breaker(Br)and Br+2 days stages compared to wild type(WT),but there were no other obvious changes in the plant and fruit in these mutant *** observed that expression of the other SlETRs is upregulated in fruit of SlETR7 KO mutants,which may explain the absence of obvious ripening ***,these results show that SlETR7 is a functional ethylene *** work is needed to better understand its specific roles related to the six other tomato ETRs.
