Anomaly detection in wind turbines typically involves using normal behaviour models to detect faults *** behaviour models are often implemented through the use of neural networks,of which autoencoders are particularly popular in this ***,training autoencoder models for each turbine is time-consuming and resource ***,transfer learning becomes essential for wind turbines with limited data or applications with limited computational *** study examines how cross-turbine transfer learning can be applied to autoencoder-based anomaly ***,autoencoders are combined with constant thresholds for the reconstruction error to determine if input data contains an *** models are initially trained on one year’s worth of data from one or more source wind *** are then fine-tuned using small amounts of data from the target wind *** methods for fine-tuning are investigated:adjusting the entire autoencoder,only the decoder,or only the threshold of the *** performance of the transfer learning models is compared to baseline models that were trained on one year’s worth of data from the target wind *** results of the tests conducted in this study indicate that models trained on data of multiple wind turbines do not improve the anomaly detection capability compared to models trained on data of one source wind *** addition,modifying the model’s threshold can lead to comparable or even superior performance compared to the baseline,whereas fine-tuning the decoder or autoencoder further enhances the models’performance.

Increasing evidence indicates that sialic acid plays an important role during nerve regeneration. Sialic acids can be modified in vitro as well as in vivo using metabolic oligosaccharide engineering of the N-awl side chain. N-Propionylmannosamine （ManNProp） increases neurite outgrowth and accelerates the reestablishment of functional synapses in vitro. We investigated the influence of systemic ManNProp application using a specific in vivo mouse model. Using mice expressing axonal fluorescent proteins, we quantified the extension of regenerating axons, the number of regenerating axons, the number of arborising axons and the number of branches per axon 5 days after injury. Sciatic nerves from non-expressing mice were grafted into those expressing yellow fluorescent protein. We began a twice-daily intraperitoneal application of either peracetylated ManNProp （200 mg/kg） or saline solution 5 days before injury, and continued it until nerve harvest （5 days after transection）. ManNProp significantly increased the mean distance of axonal regeneration （2.49 mm vs. 1.53 mm; P 〈 0.005） and the number of arborizing axons （21% vs. 16%; P = 0.008） 5 days after sciatic nerve grafting. ManNProp did not affect the number of regenerating axons or the number of branches per arborizing axon. The biochemical glycoengineering of the N-acyl side chain of sialic acid might be a promising approach for improving peripheral nerve regeneration.

Functional asymmetries, for example, the preferential involvement of 1 brain hemisphere to process stimuli, may increase brain efficiency and the capacity to carry out tasks simultaneously. We investigated which hemisphere was primarily invoIved in processing acoustic stimuli in goats using a headorienting paradigm. Three playbacks using goat vocalizations recorded in different contexts: food anticipation (positive), isolation (negative), food frustration (negative), as well as 1 playback involving dog barks (negative) were presented on the left and right sides of the test subjects simultaneously. The head-orienting response (left or right) and latency to resume feeding were recorded. The direction of the head-orienting response did not differ between the various playbacks. However, when the head-orienting response was tested against chanee level, goats showed a right bias regardless of the stimuli presented. goats responded more to dog barks than to food frustration calls, whereas responses to food anticipation and isolation calls were intermediate. In addition, the latency to resume feeding, an indicator of fear reaction, was not affected by the kind of vocalization presented. These results provide evidence for asymmetries in goat vocal perceptio n of emotional-li nked con specific and heterospecific calls. They also suggest involvement of the left brain hemisphere for processing acoustic stimuli, which might have been perceived as familiar and non -threate ning.

We present a novel approach to mesh deformation that enables simple context sensitive manipulation of 3 D geometry. The method is based on locally anisotropic transformations and is extended to global control directions. This allows intuitive directional modeling within an easy to implement framework. The proposed method complements current sculpting paradigms by providing further possibilities for intuitive surface-based editing without the need for additional host geometries. We show the anisotropic deformation to be seamlessly transferable to free boundary parameterization methods, which allows us to solve the hard problem of flattening compression garments in the domain of apparel design.

High-dose interferon-α2b induction therapy in combination with ribavirin for treatment of chronic hepatitis C in patients with non-response or relapse after interferon-a monotherapy

AIM： To evaluate the daily high-dose induction therapy with interferon-α2b （IFN-α2b） in combination with ribavirin for the treatment of patients who failed with interferon monotherapy and had a relapse, based on the assumption that the viral burden would decline faster, thus increasing the likelihood of higher response rates in this difficult-totreat patient group. METHODS： Seventy patients were enrolled in this study. Treatment was started with 10 NU IFN-α2b daily for 3 wk, followed by IFN-α2b 5 NU/TIW in combination with ribavirin （1 000-1 200 mg/d） for 21 wk. In case of a negative HCV RNA PCR, treatment was continued until wk 48 （IFN-α2b 3MU/TIW＋1000-1200 mg ribavirin/daily）. RESULTS： The dose of IFN-α2b or ribavirin was reduced in 16% of patients because of hematologic side effects, and treatment was discontinued in 7% of patients. An early viral response （EVR） was achieved in 60% of patients. Fifty percent of all patients achieved an end-oftreatment response （EOT） and d0% obtained a sustained viral response （SVR）. Patients with no response had a significantly lower response rate than those with a former relapse （SVR 30% vs 53%; P=0.049）. Furthermore, lower response rates were observed in patients infected with genotype la/b than in patients with non-1-genotype （SVR 28% vs7d%; P=0.001）. As a significant predictive factor for a sustained response, a rapid initial decline of HCV RNA could be identified. No patient achieving a negative HCV-RNA PCR at wk 18 or later eventually eliminated the virus. CONCLUSION： Daily high-dose induction therapy with interferon-α2b is well tolerated and effective for the treatment of non-responders and relapsers, when interferon monotherapy fails. A fast decline of viral load during the first 12 wk is strongly associated with a sustained viral response.

gymnolaemata bryozoans produce CaCO3 skeletons of either calcite,aragonite,or *** extensive research,their crystallography and biomineralization patterns remain *** present a detailed study of the microstructures,min-eralogy,and crystallography of eight extant cheilostome species using scanning electron microscopy,electron backscatter diffraction,atomic force microscopy,and micro-computed *** distinguished five basic microstructures,three calcitic(tabular,irregularly platy,and granular),and two aragonitic(granular-platy and fibrous).The calcitic microstruc-tures consist of crystal aggregates that transition from tabular or irregularly platy to granular *** aragonite consists of fibers arranged into *** all cases,the crystallographic textures are axial,and stronger in aragonite than in calcite,with the c-axis as the fiber *** reconstruct the biomineralization sequence in the different species by considering the distribution and morphology of the growth fronts of crystals and the location of the secretory *** bimineralic species,calcite formation always predates aragonite *** interior compound walls,growth proceeds from the cuticle toward the zooecium *** conclude that,with the exception of tabular calcite,biomineralization is remote and occurs within a relatively wide extrapallial space,which is consistent with the inorganic-like appearance of the *** biomineralization mode is rare among invertebrates.
