Roughening the surfaces of zirconium alloy tubes by glass-bead peening has been shown to increase the CHF （critical heat flux） in pool-boiling of water. The increase in CHF attributed to surface roughening effect has been measured in pool-boiling experiments using small-diameter zirconium alloy tubes that have been glass-peened with different bead sizes, intensity and coverage. The CHF was found to correlate with the fractal roughness measured on the metal surfaces. In this study, the nucleate pool-boiling characteristics of a large diameter Zircaloy-2 CANdU~ calandria tube （outer diameter -132 mm） with a glass-peened outside surface were tested in a pool of water near saturation. The primary objective was to measure the wall temperature and heat flux in order to develop a representative nucleate pool-boiling curve for large-diameter tubes with a glass-peened outside surface. By comparing the experimental results with models （e.g., Rohsenow correlation）, a modified boiling correlation has been developed for a glass-peened surface of calandria tubes that includes a surface roughness parameter.

AIM: To determine patient and process of care factors associated with performance of timely laparoscopic cholecystectomy for acute cholecystitis. METHOdS: A retrospective medical record review of 88 consecutive patients with acute cholecystitis was conducted. data collected included demographic data, co-morbidities, symptoms and physical findings at presentation, laboratory and radiological investigations, length of stay, complications, and admission service (medical or surgical). Patients not undergoing cholecystectomy during this hospitalization were excluded from analysis. Hierarchical generalized linear models were constructed to assess the association of pre-operative diagnostic procedures, presenting signs, and admitting service with time to ***: Seventy cases met inclusion and exclusion criteria, among which 12 were admitted to the medical service and 58 to the surgical service. Mean ± Sd time to surgery was 39.3 ± 43 h, with 87% of operations performed within 72 h of hospital arrival. In the adjusted models, longer time to surgery was associated with number of diagnostic studies and endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography (ERCP, P = 0.01) as well with admission to medical service without adjustment for ERCP (P dergoing both magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) and computed tomography (CT) scans experienced the longest waits for surgery. Patients admitted to the surgical versus medical service underwent surgery earlier (30.4 ± 34.9 vs 82.7 ± 55.1 h, P d less post-operative complications (12% vs 58%, P d shorter length of stay (4.3 ± 3.4 vs 8.1 ± 5.2 d, P dmission to the medical service and performance of numerous diagnostic procedures, ERCP, or MRCP combined with CT scan were associated with longer time to surgery. In this paper,we present a case study that performs an unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)based fine-scale 3d change detection and monitoring of progressive collapse performance of a building during a demolition ***-temporal oblique photogrammetry images are collected with 3d point clouds generated at different stages of the *** geometric accuracy of the generated point clouds has been evaluated against both airborne and terrestrial LidAR point clouds,achieving an average distance of 12 cm and 16 cm for roof and façade *** propose a hierarchical volumetric change detection framework that unifies multi-temporal UAV images for pose estimation(free of ground control points),reconstruction,and a coarse-to-fine 3d density change *** work has provided a solution capable of addressing change detection on full 3d time-series datasets where dramatic scene content changes are presented *** change detection results on the building demolition event have been evaluated against the manually marked ground-truth changes and have achieved an F-1 score varying from 0.78 to 0.92,with consistently high precision(0.92–0.99).Volumetric changes through the demolition progress are derived from change detection and have been shown to favorably reflect the qualitative and quantitative building demolition progression.

Over past decades,takotsubo cardiomyopathy(TTC)has drawn a substantial interest as a unique form of acute and reversible cardiomyopathy that usually emerges in response to adrenergic hyperactivation associated with a variety of emotional and physical triggers.[1,2]Even though,this phenomenon is generally characterized by an apical balloning pattern(classical variant),it might occasionally present with atypical morphological variants including mid-ventricular,inverted and focal forms of myocardial involvement.

Helium and methane are major components of giant icy planets and are abundant in the universe. However,helium is the most inert element in the periodic table and methane is one of the most hydrophobic molecules, thus whether they can react with each other is of fundamental importance. Here, our crystal structure searches and first-principles calculations predict that a He;CH;compound is stable over a wide range of pressures from 55 to 155 GPa and a HeCH;compound becomes stable around 105 GPa. As nice examples of pure van der Waals crystals, the insertion of helium atoms changes the original packing of pure methane molecules and also largely hinders the polymerization of methane at higher pressures. After analyzing the diffusive properties during the melting of He;CH;at high pressure and high temperature, in addition to a plastic methane phase, we have discovered an unusual phase which exhibits coexistence of diffusive helium and plastic methane. In addition, the range of the diffusive behavior within the helium-methane phase diagram is found to be much narrower compared to that of previously predicted helium-water compounds. This may be due to the weaker van der Waals interactions between methane molecules compared to those in helium-water compounds, and that the helium-methane compound melts more easily.

We report the scalable fabrication of CdS/ZnS 1d/2d heterojunctions under ambient air conditions(i.e.,room temperature and atmospheric pressure)in which ZnS nanoparticles are anchored on the surface of CdS *** as-formed heterojunctions exhibit a significantly enhanced photocatalytic H_(2) evolution rate of 14.02 mmol h^(-1) g^(-1) when irradiated with visible light,which is~10 and 85 times higher than those of pristine CdS nanosheets and CdS nanoparticles,respectively,and superior to most of the CdS-based photocatalysts reported to ***,they provide robust photocatalytic performance with demonstratable stability over 58 h,indicating their potential for practical *** formation of 1d/2d heterojunctions not only provides improved exposed active sites that respond to illumination but also provides a rapid pathway to generate photogenerated carriers for efficient separation and transfer through the matrix of single-crystalline CdS *** addition,first-principles simulations demonstrate that the existence of rich Zn vacancies increases the energy level of the ZnS valence band maximum to construct type-II and Z-scheme mixed heterojunctions,which plays a critical role in suppressing the recombination of carriers with limited photocorrosion of CdS to enhance photocatalytic behavior.

Beginning in the fall of 2014 there has been a general and widespread increase in the incidence of prolapse in the U.S. swine herd. The purpose of this manuscript is to review the incidence, causative factors and treatment of rectal, vaginal, uterine and preputial prolapses. Rectal and vaginal prolapses are most common in swine when compared to other prolapse types. The cause of prolapses supports a fixation mechanism failure overcome by pressure on or weakening of support tissue. The fundamental factors affecting the incidence for prolapses are many and include factors related to nutrition, physiology, hormones, genetics, environment and other disease factors such as chronic diarrhea, cough, and dystocia. Treatment of prolapsed swine includes surgical and therapeutic management that can lead to complete recovery. However, in most cases, euthanasia is the final result. Economic loss was calculated at approximately $5220 dollars/year/1000 sows.
