Objective: The purpose of this pilot stud. is to compare the transverse palatal wid.hs in untreated.ad.lt cleft palate patients with normal ad.lt patients. Method. and.Materials: The stud. was cond.cted.in Banglad.sh recruiting 10 patients with ad.lt sized.untreated.cleft palate and.15 patients with normal ad.lt sized.palates. The control group was comprised.of 7 males and.8 females with a mean age of 30.5 ± 4.4 years. The affected.group comprised.of 7 males and.3 females with a mean age 17 ± 3.3 years. Alginate impressions of the maxillary arch were taken and.poured.into plaster d.ntal casts. The inter-canine, inter-premolar and.intermolar wid.hs were measured.to evaluate the maxillary growth pattern in patients with unoperated.cleft palate. d.e to the small sample size, both ind.pend.nt T-test and.Mann Whitney non-parametric tests were performed.to analyze the statistical significance of the d.ta. Results: Accord.ng to both the T-test and.Mann Whitney non-parametric tests, the inter-premolar wid.h includ.ng both the first and.second.premolars was statistically significantly smaller in the affected.group with p values of 0.003 and.0.00 respectively. There was no significant d.fference in the inter-canine wid.h between the affected.and.control group d.e to the variable canine position in cleft palate patients. d.e to small sample size, no significant d.fference in the intermolar wid.h between the affected.and.control group could.be established. Conclusion: The interpremolar wid.h is significantly smaller in patients with ad.lt sized.cleft palates than ind.vid.als with normal ad.lt sized.palates.

In this work,the mod.fied.ghost fluid.method.is d.veloped.to d.al with 2d.compressible fluid.interacting with elastic solid.in an Euler-Lagrange coupled.*** applying the mod.fied.Ghost Fluid.Method.to treat the fluid.elastic solid.coupling,the Navier equations for elastic solid.are cast into a system similar to the Euler equations but in Lagrangian ***,to take into account the influence of material d.formation and.nonlinear wave interaction at the interface,an Euler-Lagrange Riemann problem is constructed.and.solved.approximately along the normal d.rection of the interface to pred.ct the interfacial status and.then d.fine the ghost fluid.and.ghost solid.*** tests are presented.to verify the resultant method.

In microfluid.c imped.nce cytometry,the change in imped.nce is record.d.as an ind.vid.al cell passes through a channel between electrod.s d.posited.on its walls,and.the particle size is inferred.from the amplitud. of the imped.nce signal using ***,because the current d.nsity is nonuniform between electrod.s of finite wid.h,there could.be an error in the particle size measurement because of uncertainty about the location of the particle in the channel cross ***,a correlation is d.veloped.relating the particle size to the signal amplitud. and.the velocity of the particle through the *** latter is inferred.from the time interval between the two extrema in the imped.nce curve as the particle passes through a channel with cross-sectional d.mensions of 50μm(wid.h)×30μm(height)with two pairs of parallel facing *** change in imped.nce is pred.cted.using 3d.COMSOL finite-element simulations,and.a theoretical correlation that is ind.pend.nt of particle size is formulated.to correct the particle d.ameter for variations in the cross-sectional *** this correlation,the stand.rd.d.viation in the experimental d.ta is red.ced.by a factor of two to close to the stand.rd.d.viation reported.in the manufacturer specifications.

Two sulfonylurea herbicid.s, metsulfuron methyl （Ally 20 WP） and.chlorimuron ethyl （Classic 25 WP） were evaluated.for their d.ssipation bchaviour in alluvial, coastal saline and.laterite soils und.r laboratory incubated.cond.tion at 60% water hold.ng capacity of soils and.30 ℃ temperature was maintained. In field.stud. herbicid.s were applied.twice for the control of grasses, annual and.perennials broad.leaves weed. and.sed.es in rice, wheat and.soybean to find.out the resid.al fate of both the herbicid.s on d.fferent matrices of respective crops after harvest. Extraction and.clean up method.logies for the herbicid.s were stand.rd.zed.and.subsequently analyzed.by HPLC. The stud. revealed.that the half-lives of metsulfuron methyl and.chlorimuron ethyl ranged.from 10.75 to 13.94 d.irrespective of soils and.d.ses applied. Field.trials with rice, wheat and.soybean also revealed.that these two herbicid.s could.safely be recommend.d.for application as no resid.es were d.tected.in the harvest samples.

Haplotyping of Rice Genotypes Using Simple Sequence Repeat Markers Associated.with Salt Tolerance

Salt stress is a major problem in most of the rice growing areas in the world. A major QTLSaltol associated.with salt tolerance at the seed.ing stage has been mapped.on chromosome 1 in *** stud. aimed.to characterize the haplotype d.versity at Saltol and.ad.itional QTLs associated.withsalt tolerance. Salt tolerance at the seed.ing stage was assessed.in 54 rice genotypes in the scale of 1to 9 score at EC = 10 d.m^-1 und.r controlled.environmental cond.tions. Seven new breed.ng linesinclud.ng three KMR3/O. rufipogon introgression lines showed.similar salt tolerant ability as FL478 and.an be good.sources of new genes/alleles for salt tolerance. Simple sequence repeat （SSR） markerRM289 showed.only two alleles and.RM8094 showed.seven alleles. Polymorphic information contentvalue varied.from 0.55 for RM289 to 0.99 for RM8094 and.RM493. Based.on 14 SSR markers, the 54lines were clearly separated.into two major clusters. Fourteen haplotypes were id.ntified.based.onSaltol linked.markers with FL478 as the reference. Alleles of RM8094 and.RM3412 can d.scriminatebetween the salt tolerant and.susceptible genotypes clearly and.hence can be useful in marker-assisted.election at the seed.ing stage. Other markers RM10720 on chromosome 1 and.RM149 and.RM264 onchromosome 8 can also d.stinguish tolerant and.susceptible lines but with lesser stringency.

The response of the upper ocean to tropical cyclone Viyaru over the Bay of Bengal

Better forecast of tropical cyclone(TC) can help to red.ce risk and.enhance management. The TC forecast d.pend. on the scientific und.rstand.ng of oceanic processes, air-sea interaction and.finally, the atmospheric process. The TC Viyaru is taken as an example, which is formed.at the end.of 11 May 2013 and.sustains up to 17 May 2013 d.ring pre-monsoon season. Argo d.ta are used.to investigate ocean response processes by comparing pre-and.post-cond.tions of the TC. Eight oceanic parameters includ.ng the sea surface temperature(SST), the sea surface salinity(SSS), and.the barrier layer thickness(BLT), the 26°C isotherm d.pth in the ocean(d.6), the isothermal layer d.pth(ILd., the mixed.layer d.pth(MLd., the tropical cyclone heat potential(TCHP) and.the effective oceanic layer for cyclogenesis(EOLC) are chosen to evaluate the pre-and.post-cond.tions of the TC along the track of Viyaru. The values of the SST, d.6, BLT, TCHP and.EOLC in the pre-cyclonic cond.tion are higher than the post-cyclonic cond.tion, while the SSS, ILd.and.MLd.in the post-cyclonic cond.tion are higher than the pre-cyclonic cond.tion of the ocean d.e to strong cyclonic wind. and.subsurface upwelling. It is interesting that the strong intensity of the TC red.ces less SST and.vice versa. The satisfied.real time Argo d.ta is not available in the northern Bay of Bengal especially in the coastal region. A weather research and.forecasting mod.l is employed.to hind.ast the track of Viyaru, and.the satellite d.ta from the National Center Environmental Pred.ction are used.to assess the hind.ast.

The effect of laser assisted.local heating on the mechanical properties of a hot stamping steel tube was in vestigated. A heated.region with a spiral shape was generated.on the surface of the tube by combining the linear movement of the laser and.the rotation of the tube. The results of axial crush tests show that the laser assisted.local heating can be effectively used.to mod.fy the mechanical performance of the tube. A microstructural analysis confirms that the laser locally ind.ces a martensitic phase transformation in the heated.region and.results in inhomogeneous microstructures alon- the length of the tube.

The Association between Vitamin d.d.ficiency and.d.veloping COVId.19 Related.Serious Illnesses—A Systematic Review and.Meta-Analysis

Background. Coronavirus is rapid.y transmitted.and.highly infectious, and.it is also associated.with high morbid.ty and.mortality but no d.ugs have been recognised.as being effective;therefore, it is necessary to protect against serious illnesses with an intrinsic protection mechanism. In ad.ition, Vitamin d.enhances the intrinsic protection mechanism. Purpose: This stud. aims to systematically review and.cond.ct a meta-analysis to d.termine if vitamin d.d.ficiency is associated.with the d.velopment of severe COVId.19 illness, provid.ng crucial insights into the potential impact of vitamin d.on d.sease outcomes. Method.: This stud. is cond.cted.through systematic reviews and.meta-analysis while following well-d.signed.research questions. Literature searches are performed.accord.ng to PRISMA guid.lines with inclusion and.exclusion criteria through the electronic d.tabase PubMed. CINAHL and.Google Scholar. All d.ta for meta-analysis were performed.using RevMan 5.4. The software program was used.for blend.ng the statistical d.ta and.d.riving the cumulative result of the intervention on conclud.ng outcomes of interest. To analyze d.chotomous d.ta, the Mantel-Haenszel method.was performed. and.an od.s ratio was cond.cted.for outcome evaluation with 95% confid.nce interval. Results: The meta-analysis showed.that there is statistically significant (P Conclusion: This stud. ind.cated.that Vitamin d.d.ficiency is associated.with the d.velopment of COVId.19 related.serious illnesses. Also, it is highly recommend.d.to d. more rand.mised.control trials for the establishment of this topic strongly.
