Objectives: To compare the outcomes of Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL) with or without nephrostomy tube. Materials & Methods: This prospective comparative study intended to compare the outcomes between PCNL without nephrostomy tube and PCNL with nephrostomy tube. A total of 50 cases of renal stone disease planned for PCNL in Dhaka Medical College Hospital from July 2015 to June 2017, were included in this study according to the statistical calculation. Cases were randomly allocated to group A (PCNL without nephrostomy tube) and group B (PCNL with nephrostomy tube). Each group consisted of 25 patients. The outcome variables were post operative pain, requirement of analgesic, leakage of urine and post operative hospital stay. Data were analyzed and compared by statistical tests. Results: No significant differences were found regarding age (p = 0.95), sex (p = 0.55) and operation time (p = 0.36) between two groups. Post operative pain (p p p p Conclusions: Percutaneous nephrolithotomy without nephrostomy tube is better than percutaneous nephrolithotomy with nephrostomy tube in selective cases. It significantly reduces post operativepain, analgesic requirement and postoperative hospital stay. So percutaneous nephrolithotomy without nephrostomy tube is safe and effective.

This paper documents design and modeling of a grid-connected emergency back-up power supply for medium power applications. Back-up power supplies are very important in regard to support electrical loads in the events of grid power outage. However, grid-integration of a back-up power supply substantiates continual power transfer to the loads, especially to the critical loads, which should not suffer from power interruptions. Therefore, design and circuit modeling of switching converters based reliable grid-tied emergency back-up power supply are presented in this paper. There are a rectifier-link boost derived battery charging circuit and a 4-switch push-pull power inverter circuit which are controlled by high frequency pulse width modulation (PWM) signals. This paper presents a state averaging model and Laplace domain transfer function of the charging circuit and a switching converter model of the power inverter circuit. A changeover relay based transfer switch controls the power flow towards the utility loads. During off-grid situations, loads are fed power by the proposed inverter circuit and during on-grid situations, battery is charged by an ac-link rectifier-fed boost converter. However, there is a relay switching circuit to control the charging phenomenon of the battery. The proposed design is simulated in PLECS and the simulation results corroborate the reliability of the presented framework.

Planting material BARI mungbean-5 and two phytochemicals viz. Imitaf, active ingredient imidacloprid and ACmix, active ingredient chloropyriphos (50%) + Cypermethrin (5%) were used in this experiment. In case of Imitaf, the lowest percent disease incidence (10.12% per plant and 3.51% per plot) and severity (7.21%) were recorded in four times spray (T4) at 70 DAS. The highest percent disease incidence (36.50% per plant and 11.37% per plot) and severity (23.33%) were recorded in no spray (T0) at 70 DAS. In case of ACmix, the lowest percent disease incidence (12.21% per plant and 4.21% per plot) and severity (7.53%) were recorded in four times spray (T4) at 70 DAS. The highest percent disease incidence (36.49% per plant and 11.37% per plot) and severity (36.67%) was recorded in T0 at 70 DAS. The highest number of flower, no of pod and yield was found in four times spray (T4) that was higher in Imitaf than ACmix. The highest chlorophyll content was recorded in four times spray (T4) for Imitaf (49.62 μmol·m-2·s-1) and ACmix (56.80 μmol·m-2·s-1), and the lowest chlorophyll content was recorded in T0 for Imitaf (42.01 μmol·m-2·s-1) and ACmix (48.34 μmol·m-2·s-1). However from the results of this experiment it was revealed that Imitaf gave the better performance to control the insect vector (Whitefly) of MYMV with four times spray.

Spatially homogeneous and anisotropic Bianchi type-I cosmological model containing perfect fluid with quadratic equation of state has been diagnosed in general theory of relativity. To obtain a deterministic solution, we have used a relation between metric potentials. The exact solution of Einstein’s field equations thus obtained represents an expanding and decelerating universe. The physical and kinematical parameters of the model have also been analyzed with certain constrained between the parameters of the quadratic equation of state.

Wilt complex disease of eggplant is a severe problem in Bangladesh as well as in the world. The pathogenic variability and their survival nature make the disease complex. The pathogen includes a fungus (Fusarium oxysporum), a bacterium (Ralstonia solanacearum) and a nematode (Meloidogyne spp.) that attack the plant individually or combinedly. The present investigation aimed to evaluate the integrated effects of different chemicals, poultry manure and Trichoderma harzianum to manage the disease. Carbendazim (Autostin 50WP), Streptomycin sulphate 9% and Tetracycline hydrochloride 1% (Krosin 10SP) and Carbofuran (Furadan 3G) were used as a fungicide, bactericide and nematicide, respectively which were integrated with poultry manure and Trichoderma harzianum resulting in sixteen treatments. The treatment efficacy varied significantly in comparison to control in respect of wilt incidence, yield and yield contributing characters. No wilt incidence was observed where Trichoderma harzianum was applied individually or in combination with Furadan 3G, Krosin 10SP, Autostin 50WP and poultry manure. The study was conducted with 18 eggplant lines/variety at the farm of Olericulture Division, HRC, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, Gazipur during the winter season of 2017-18 to develop new green type high yielding OP variety having tolerance to eggplant fruit and shoot borer and bacterial wilt. The lines varied significantly for their response to all characters (P SM 083F required minimum 105 days to first harvest. Maximum marketable fruit number was obtained by SM083A (30.33). Heavy sized fruit was harvested by SM275 (175 g), followed by SM289 (170 g), SM279 (169 g), SM083E (165 g), SM253 (164 g). The range of fruit infection by BFSB was 10.33% - 19.007%, while lowest in SM262 (10.33%). In case of bacterial wilt (BW) infestation at field level performance, zero percent incidence was observed in SM262, SM275, SM279, SM291B. The yield range of eggplant lines was 18.62 - 43.36 t/ha. The highest fruit yield was recorded from the line SM 275 (43.36 t/ha), which was statistically similar with which was statistically similar with SM 279 (39.85 t/ha), SM 291B (38.59 t/ha), SM083B (38.42 t/ha), SM 262 (38.17 t/ha), SM 253 (37.43 t/ha). Considering earliness, tolerance to fruit infection by BFSB, bacterial wilt infestation, attractive fruit shape and fruit colour, the lines SM 275, SM 279, SM 291B, SM083B, SM 262, SM 253 were found promising. So these six lines can be selected for further confirmation.

An exploratory study was conducted on the housing pattern and food habit of the Mro tribe in Bandarban region, Bangladesh, highlighting their indigenous knowledge. The study was carried out with respect to three income groups. A total of 36 households (12 from each income groups) were assessed using different participatory appraisals through semi-structured questionnaires. A special type of indigenous knowledge on housing pattern and food habit was explored in the Mro community, which correspond to the severe dependence on forest resources.
