Aim： To evaluate the efficacy and safety of SK3530, a newly developed type 5 phosphodiesterase inhibitor （PDE5I）, in Korean men with erectile dysfunction （ED）. Methods： A total of 119 patients were randomized at 10 centers in Korea to receive either SK3530 （50, 100, or 150 mg; n = 89） or placebo （n = 30） taken 1 h before anticipated sexual activity for an 8-week period. The patients were evaluated at baseline and 4 and 8 weeks after beginning therapy. Efficacy was assessed using the International Index of Erectile Function （IIEF）, Sexual Encounter Profile （SEP）, and the Global Assessment Question （GAQ）. Safety was analyzed by adverse events, laboratory values and vital signs. Results： At the end of the study, all the primary and secondary efficacy end-points were statistically significantly improved by SK3530 compared with placebo （P 〈 0.05）. Of the 89 patients in the treatment arm, 36 （42.3 %） achieved normal erectile function after treatment, including six patients with severe ED. Treatment-related adverse events occurred in 32 patients. The most common adverse events were flushing, headache, dizziness and eye redness （10.9%, 7.6%, 2.5% and 2.5%, respectively）, and most were mild. Only two patients discontinued treatment during the study period because of adverse events. Conclusion： The results of our phase Ⅱ study have confirmed the efficacy and safety of SK3530 in a broad population of men with ED of various etiologies and severity. The optimal doses in terms of efficacy and safety were determined to be 50 mg and 100 mg, respectively.

Background:The response rate and survival improvement for rituximab,a CD20-targeting monoclonal antibody,have been demonstrated in marginal zone lymphoma(MZL)as monotherapy and in combination with chemotherapeutic regimens,yet relapses still occur despite treatment ***,extending the period of remission in MZL patients remains an essential *** multicenter,single-arm,open-label phase II study evaluated the survival efficacy of 2 years of rituximab-maintenance therapy in patients with stage III-IV CD20-positive MZL who had responded to first-line R-CVP(rituximab,cyclophosphamide,vincristine,and prednisolone).The objective of this study was to determine whether rituximab maintenance following R-CVP warrants further ***:Prior to rituximab-maintenance therapy,patients received 6-8 cycles of first-line R-CVP therapy for stage III-IV ***(375 mg/m^(2)),cyclophosphamide(750 mg/m^(2)),and vincristine(1.4 mg/m^(2);maximum 2 mg)were administered via an intravenous infusion on day 1 of each 3-week cycle,while oral prednisolone(100 mg)was given on days 1-5 of each 3-week *** patients who achieved complete response(CR),partial response(PR),or stable disease(SD)to R-CVP treatment,were prescribed rituximab-maintenance therapy which was administered intravenously at a dose of 375 mg/m^(2) every 8 weeks for up to 12 *** primary endpoint was progression-free survival(PFS).Secondary endpoints were overall survival(OS)and treatment ***:47 patients were enrolled,of whom,45(96%)received rituximab-maintenance ***(33%)patients had nodal *** R-CVP first-line therapy,20(44%),22(49%),and 3(7%)patients achieved CR,PR,and SD,*** a median follow-up of 38.2 months,their observed 3-year PFS rate was 81%.During the rituximab-maintenance,6 PR and 1 SD patients achieved CR following the administration of *** LDH and the presence of B symptoms were found to be significant prognostic fac

US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates food-borne pathogenic Salmonella bacteria cause about 1.35 million infections, 26,500 hospitalizations, and 420 deaths in the U.S. every year. Outbreaks of multidrug-resistant Salmonella Reading linked mainly to raw turkey products and alfalfa sprouts have accounted for human illness including mortality. Therefore, we downloaded and compared genome sequences of 897 Salmonella Reading isolated from 27 resources in 11 countries at 21 year-points from the National Center for Biotechnology Information database. Isolates were clustered into 10 clades which consisted of 3 major and 7 minor or single node clades. Although 3 major clades included both Europe and American isolates, one clade consisted of 605 North American isolates out of 614 isolates. Evolutionary distance is more related to the continent than the source of isolation. The host source, continent (North America and Europe) and phylogenetic clade were related to the prevalence of isolates encoding Antimicrobial Resistance Genes (ARGs). Prevalence of prophages was greater in bovine and swine isolates than poultry and human isolates and the least prevalence was found in human isolates. Between continents, the prevalence of phage was greater in North Ame- rican isolates than European. The diversity of virulence factors in swine isolates differed from poultry isolate while no difference was found among continents. In conclusion, evolutionary distance is related to isolation host source rather than the continent, and genome features were distinguished by host and cluster. Our genomic analysis implies that Salmonella Reading evolved independently to environments within its lineages.

Gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) represents the most common kind of mesenchymal tumor that arises from the alimentary tract. GIST is currently defined as a gastrointestinal tract mesenchymal tumor showing CD117 (c-kit protein) positivity at immunohistochemistry. Throughout the whole length of the gastrointestinal tract, GIST arises most commonly from the stomach followed by the small intestine, the colorectum, and the esophagus. Only 3%-5% of GISTs occur in the duodenum, and especially, if GIST arises from the C loop of the duodenum, it can be difficult to differentiate from the pancreas head mass because of its anatomical proximity. Here, we report a case of duodenal GIST, which was assessed as a pancreatic head tumor preoperatively.

1) Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) is defined as a degenerative joint disease that mainly affects the bone. This study aims to evaluate the effect of low-intensity continuous ultrasound (LICUS) treatment on the knee of osteoarthritis patients through home-based intervention using the LICUS medical device. 2) Methods: The clinical trials were designed in a single-arm, open-label, and intervention study. Thirty-five participants, including those who dropped out (12%), were screened and enrolled. The patients received LICUS (1.1 MHz, 1.5 W/cm2, collimated beams) on the knee by the instructions of the investigator at home (5 min/session, 3 times/day, for four-weeks). Outcome measures were assessed using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) as a primary endpoint and the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) as a secondary endpoint to evaluate pain relief and functional recovery of the knee between pre-treatment (baseline) and post-treatment (four-weeks). 3) Results: Knee pain scores measured using the VAS and WOMAC indices were significantly reduced after a four-week treatment with LICUS compared to baseline. Knee stiffness and functional capacity were significantly reduced after the LICUS application. In addition, there were no reports of adverse effects during the study period. 4) Conclusion: Long-term and home-based application of LICUS can be recommended as an alternative option for the treatment of OA patients, as evidenced by the effect of pain relief and knee function recovery.

根据1996年初春中韩黄海水循环动力学合作调查所获资料，分析了南黄海水文特征及其环流状况，并获得了以下几点主要认识：（1）初春南黄海的温、盐分布特征及环流基本形态，与以往所揭示的冬季状况基本相似．然而，本次调查发现，在30m以浅，黄海中部暖水舌轴线比冬季的明显偏东；且出现一范围较小的孤立的相对高温高盐区．在垂向，一种中层冷水和表层逆温跃层现象出现在黄海局部区域．（2）直接测流的结果，不仅部分地印证了由温、盐场所显示的环流基本形态，而且较好地揭示了流场中发生的一些新现象，其中尤其是绕济州岛的流动．（3）黄海暖流水是对马暖流水和陆架水混合而成．而且，它主要是在济州岛西侧水域，从锋带中衍生出来的．

Amur goral (Nemorhaedus caudatus) is a rare species among Asian mammals. It is listed as Vulnerable in the 1996 IUCN Red List of the Threatened Animals, and designated as the natural monument (No. 217) in Republic of Korea. This species is distributed in Northeast and Southwest of China, south of the Russian Far East and the Korean peninsula. But subspecies are different with inhabitants in China, which occur 5 species of gorals.
