Microplastics(MPs)are ubiquitous in the environment,continuously undergo aging processes and release toxic chemical *** the environmental behaviors of MPs is critical to accurately evaluate their long-term ecological *** twodimensional correlation spectroscopy(2D-COS)is a powerful tool for MPs studies,which can dig more comprehensive information hiding in the conventional one-dimensional spectra,such as infrared(IR)and Raman *** recent applications of 2D-COS in analyzing the behaviors and fates of MPs in the environment,including their aging processes,and interactions with natural organicmatter(NOM)or other chemical substances,were summarized *** main requirements and limitations of current approaches for exploring these processes are discussed,and the corresponding strategies to address these limitations and drawbacks are proposed as ***,new trends of 2D-COS are prospected for analyzing the properties and behaviors of MPs in both natural and artificial environmental processes.

Control of N-nitrosodimethylamine(NDMA)in drinking water could be achieved by removing its precursors as one practical ***,superfine powdered activated carbons with a diameter of about 1μm(SPACs)were successfully prepared by grinding powdered activated carbon(PAC,D50=24.3μm)and applied to remove model NDMA precursors,***(RAN)and nizatidine(NIZ).Results fromgrain diameter experiments demonstrated that the absorption velocity increased dramatically with decreasing particle size,and the maximum increase in k2 was 26.8-folds for RAN and 33.4-folds for ***,kinetic experiments explained that rapid absorption could be attributed to the acceleration of intraparticle diffusion due to the shortening of the diffusion ***,performance comparison experiments suggested that the removal of RAN and NIZ(C_(0)=0.5 mg/L)could reach 61.3%and 60%,respectively,within 5 min,when the dosage of SAPC-1.1(D_(50)=1.1μm)was merely 5 mg/L,while PAC-24.3 could only eliminate 17.5%and 18.6%.The adsorption isotherm was well defined by Langmuir isotherm model,indicating that the adsorption of RAN/NIZ was a monolayer coverage *** adsorption of RAN or NIZ by SAPC-1.1 and PAC-24.3 was strongly pH dependent,and high adsorption capacity could be observed under the condition of pH>pk_(a)+*** coexistence of humic acid(HA)had no significant effect on the adsorption performance because RAN/NIZ may be coupled with HA and removed *** coexistence of anions had little effect on the adsorption *** study is expected to provide an alternative strategy for drinking water safety triggered by NDMA.

Mercury(Hg),especially methylmercury(MeHg),accumulation in rice grain due to rice paddy possessing conditions conducive to Hg methylation has led to human Hg exposure through consumption of rice-based daily *** addition to being a food staple,rice is widely used as a raw material to produce a vast variety of processed food *** is known about Hg levels in snacking rice-food products and potential Hg exposure from consumption of them,besides previous studies on infant rice *** to provide complementary information for a more complete assessment on Hg exposure risk originated from Hgcontaining rice,this study determined total Hg(THg)and MeHg levels in 195 rice-containing and rice-free processed food products covering all major types of snack foods marketed in China and the estimated daily intake(EDI)of dietary Hg from the consumption of these *** results clearly showed THg and MeHg contents in rice-containing foods were significantly higher than rice-free products,suggesting the transfer of Hg and MeHg from the rice to the end products,even after manufacturing ***,significant positive correlations were observed between THg,MeHg,or MeHg/THg ratio and rice content for samples containing multiple grains as ingredients,further indicating the deciding role of rice for Hg levels in the end food *** the EDI of THg and MeHg via ricebased food products were relatively low compared to the reference dose,it should be considered these snacking food products would contribute additive Hg intake outside of the daily regular meals.

Pentaploid hybrids produced from crosses between hexaploid and tetraploid wheats combine the genetic variation of both parents. Crossing a synthetic hexaploid wheat LM/AT23 with its AB-genome donor, the durum wheat LM, and selfing the pentaploid hybrids to the F7 generation yielded mostly euploid tetraploids and a few hexaploids. Two special derivatives of tetraploid were isolated, including a 4D(4B) substitution line with large panicles and high resistance to stripe rust and a 2DS.2AL translocation line with non-waxy epidermis. The discovery of small D-genome introgressions in the A and B genomes suggested that pentaploidization can be used to induce homoeologous recombination. The introgression of D genome from Aegilops tauschii to the AB genomes might promote the development of super tetraploid wheat with hexaploid biological characteristics (especially stress resistance) and quality functions and the functional study of the introduced chromosomes or fragments. © 2025 Crop Science Society of China and Institute of Crop Science, CAAS

Background:Computed tomography(CT)plays a great role in characterizing and quantifying changes in lung structure and function of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).This study aimed to explore the performance of CT-based whole lung radiomic in discriminating COPD patients and non-COPD ***:This retrospective study was performed on 2785 patients who underwent pulmonary function examination in 5 hospitals and were divided into non-COPD group and COPD *** radiomic features of the whole lung volume were *** absolute shrinkage and selection operator(LASSO)logistic regression was applied for feature selection and radiomic signature construction.A radiomic nomogram was established by combining the radiomic score and clinical *** operating characteristic(ROC)curve analysis and decision curve analysis(DCA)were used to evaluate the predictive performance of the radiomic nomogram in the training,internal validation,and independent external validation ***:Eighteen radiomic features were collected from the whole lung volume to construct a radiomic *** area under the curve(AUC)of the radiomic model in the training,internal,and independent external validation cohorts were 0.888[95%confidence interval(CI)0.869–0.906],0.874(95%CI 0.844–0.904),and 0.846(95%CI 0.822–0.870),*** were higher than the clinical model(AUC were 0.732,0.714,and 0.777,respectively,P<0.001).DCA demonstrated that the nomogram constructed by combining radiomic score,age,sex,height,and smoking status was superior to the clinical factor ***:The intuitive nomogram constructed by CT-based whole-lung radiomic has shown good performance and high accuracy in identifying COPD in this multicenter study.

The Impacts of a Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility Intervention on Social and Emotional Competence in Physical Education: A Quasi-Experimental Study

Background: The Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility (TPSR) model in physical education (PE) has been shown to promote Social and emotional competence (SEC). However, the underlying mechanisms through which TPSR enhances SEC, particularly in university students within the Chinese context, remain unclear. This study aims to explore the effects of TPSR and the mediating roles of self-efficacy and grit in improving SEC. Methods: 71 Chinese university students were in the TPSR group, and 39 in the Traditional Teaching Model (TTM) control group, assessed before and after a 14-week intervention. The Adapted Social and Emotional Competence Scale (ASECS), General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES), and Short Grit Scale (SGS) were used for measurement. A mixed-design ANOVA assessed TPSR’s effects, with post-hoc t -tests for pre-post differences and mediation analysis for underlying mechanisms. Results: The mixed-design ANOVA revealed a significant interaction between time and intervention on SEC. The TPSR group showed significant improvement from pre-test to post-test ( t (70) = −2.63, p = 0.011, Cohen’s d = −0.31), whereas the TTM control group did not ( t (38) = 1.40, p = 0.170, Cohen’s d = 0.22). The TPSR group also showed a significant increase in self-efficacy ( t (70) = −3.67, p < 0.001, Cohen’s d = −0.44), while no change was observed in the TTM group ( t (38) = 0.62, p = 0.540, Cohen’s d = 0.10). No significant effects were found for grit ( F = 0.342, p = 0.560). Mediation analysis confirmed that self-efficacy significantly mediated the effects of the TPSR intervention on SEC (95% CI: 0.0277 to 0.2897). Conclusion: The TPSR intervention led to significant improvements in university students’ SEC and self-efficacy, with no significant changes observed in grit. Self-efficacy served as a mediator in the relationship between the intervention and SEC.

The Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum(PETM)was the most prominent warming event in the Cenozoic and serves as a geological analog for the current global warming driven by anthropogenic CO_(2)emissions from burning fossil *** a primary disruptor of Earth's ecosystems,wildfire activity affects the balance of ecosystems,the global carbon cycle,and climate ***,studying the evolution and driving mechanisms of wildfires during the PETM is essential for predicting wildfire activity under global warming scenarios and for understanding the carbon cycle in the context of wildfire *** research on wildfires during the PETM has mainly focused on the Northern Hemisphere,particularly Europe and North America,whereas studies on Chinese mainland remain *** this study,we analyzed black carbon(BC)concentration and carbon isotope(δ13C)in the Beigou section of the Nanyang Basin and the Xilutian section of the Fushun Basin to reconstruct the spatiotemporal evolution of wildfires in arid/semi-arid and humid *** integrated these findings with those of previous studies on the paleoclimate of the research area to elucidate the driving mechanisms behind wildfire *** results indicate that wildfire activity weakened at the onset of the PETM,with the negative carbon isotope period characterized by low wildfire activity,except for a brief resurgence in the Nanyang *** the recovery phase of the PETM,wildfire activity gradually increased,returning to the pre-PETM *** prolonged low wildfire state was likely caused by extremely high temperatures and precipitation as well as the resulting vegetation *** the PETM recovery phase,increased wildfire activity transformed“short-term carbon sinks”of the biological-atmospheric carbon cycle into“long-term carbon sinks”through the burial of *** process of carbon sink conversion may have acted as a negative feedback mechanism,contributing to carbon sequestration and the e
