Apoptosi. of kerati.ocytes, w.i.h occurs more i. depi.mented sucti.n-bli.tered epi.ermi. than i. the normally pi.mented counterpart, could reduce levels of kerati.ocyte-deri.ed factors such as SCF and basi. fi.roblast grow.h factor (bFGF). Levels of SCF expressi.n w.re exami.ed i. the depi.mented and normally pi.mented pai.ed epi.ermi. of 19 pati.nts w.th vi.i.i.o, and bFGF expressi.n i. si. pati.nts.
