Back.round: Th.re are many reports of patients with.a severe h.droa vacciniforme (h.)-lik. eruption in wh.ch.cutaneous lesions occur in both.sun-exposed and non-exposed areas, unlik. in true h.. Several patients h.ve died from a malignant h.ematological neoplasm. In most cases, a latent Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection h.s been detected in th. sk.n lesions. Objectives: To describe th. clinical and laboratory features of six additional patients with.an EBV-associated h.-lik. eruption. Meth.ds: Th. clinical, h.stological and immunoh.stoch.mical features were reviewed. T-cell receptor γgene rearrangements were studied using polymerase ch.in reaction (PCR) and h.tero-duplex analysis. In-situ h.bridization was performed to detect mRNA for EBV in sk.n biopsy specimens. PCR was performed to screen for EBV infection in th. sk.n lesions of th.ee patients and blood of two patients. Ph.toprovocation with.repeated ultraviolet (UV) A exposure was performed in th.ee patients. Results: Th. severity of th. sk.n lesions and th. clinical course varied among th. patients. Sk.n lesions were induced by repeated UVA exposure in th.ee patients and a latent EBV infection was demonstrated in th. ph.toprovok.d lesions. Conclusions: Th.ee different clinical courses were found in six patients with.an h.-lik. eruption associated with.ch.onic EBV infection: (i) spontaneous remission; (ii) clearing after ph.toprotection; and (iii) continuous recurrence irrespective of sun exposure. It is possible th.t th.re are two patterns of h.-lik. eruption associated with.ch.onic EBV infection. One is ch.racterized by recurrent necrotic papulovesicles of th. face and th. oth.r by nodules and facial swelling. It was demonstrated th.t th. sk.n lesions could be triggered by repeated UVA exposure in th. patients sh.wing recurrent necrotic papulovesicles of th. face.

Back.round and Purpose -In contrast to platelet-rich.wh.te th.ombi, red th.ombi in th. h.art are rich.in fibrin and trapped eryth.ocytes. Th. magnetic susceptibility effect of deoxygenated h.moglobin in red th.ombi may result in h.pointense signals on T2*-weigh.ed gradient echo imaging (GRE). We tested th. h.poth.sis th.t a GRE susceptibility vessel sign (SVS) is specific for cardioembolic strok.. Meth.ds -Th.s retrospective study examined data from acute isch.mic strok. patients wh. underwent diffusion-weigh.ed imaging, GRE and magnetic resonance angiograph. (MRA) with.n 24 h.urs of strok. onset and wh. h.d symptomatic occl usion of large intracranial arteries in th. circle of Willis. h.pointense signals with.n vascular cisterns on GRE corresponding to symptomatic vascular occlusio n were termed “GRE SVS.”Recanalization was assessed on follow-up MRA performe d with.n 7 days of onset. Th. relationsh.ps between GRE SVS and strok. subtypes and subsequent recanalization were explored. Results -Of th. 95 patients wh. me t th. inclusion criteria, GRE SVS was observed in 45 (47.4%). GRE SVS was more commonly associated with.cardioembolic strok. patients (31 of 40, 77.5%) th.n w ith.oth.r strok. subtypes (14 of 55, 25.5%; P h. unde rwent follow-up MRA, GRE SVS was associated with.subsequent recanalization (P h.wed th.t GRE SVS was an independent predictor of cardioembolic strok. and subsequent recanalization (odds ratio, 10.75 and 4.2 6; 95%CI, 3.68 to 31.47 and 1.12 to 16.30). Conclusions -GRE SVS may predict c ardioembolic strok. and subsequent recanalization. Identifying clot composition may be important in choosing th. optimal treatment based on clot ch.racteristics .

We establish.d a new meth.d to produce th. sph.rical polyureth.ne beads wh.ch.h.ve narrower distribution of particle size. Th.s narrower distribution was ach.eved by th. polyureth.ne prepolymer wh.ch.contains k.timine as a block.d ch.in-extending agent. Firstly, th. prepolymer is dispersed into th. aqueous solution containing surfactant. Secondaly, water comes into th. inside of prepolymer as oil ph.se. Th.rdly, k.timine is h.drolyzed to amine, and amine reacts with.prepolymer immediately to be *** sph.rical polyureth.ne beads are very suitable for automotive interior parts especially for instrument panel cover sh.et producing under th. slush.molding meth.d, because of good process ability, excellent durability to th. sunligh. and mech.nical properties at low temperature. Surface-enh.nced Raman scattering nanosensors for in vivo detection of nucleic acid targets in a large animal model

Alth.ugh.nanotech.ology h.s led to important advances in in vitro diagnostics, th. development of nanosensors for in vivo detection remains very ch.llenging. h.re, we demonstrated th. proof-of-principle of in vivo detection of nudeic acid targets using a promising type of surface-enh.nced Raman scattering （SERS） nanosensor implanted in th. sk.n of a large animal model （pig）. Th. in vivo nanosensor used in th.s study involves th. ＂inverse molecular sentinel＂ detection sch.me using plasmonics-active nanostars, wh.ch.h.ve tunable absorption bands in th. near infrared region of th. ＂tissue optical window＂, rendering th.m efficient as an optical sensing platform for in vivo optical detection. Ex vivo measurements were also performed using h.man sk.n grafts to demonstrate th. detection of SERS nanosensors th.ough.tissue. In th.s stud, a new core--sh.ll nanorattle probe with.Raman reporters trapped between th. core and sh.ll was utilized as an internal standard system for self-calibration. Th.se results illustrate th. usefulness and translational potential of th. SERS nanosensor for in vivo biosensing.

Th. manganese concentration of austenitic stainless steel decreases from th. inner layer towards th. surface of th. plasma (ion) carburized layer due to th. evaporation of manganese from th. specimen surface. Th. carbon concentration in th. carburized layer is influenced by alloyed elements such.as Cr, Ni, Si, and Mo, as well as Nitrogen. Th.s study examined th. effects of nitrogen on th. properties of th. carburized layer of h.gh.nitrogen stainless steel. Plasma (ion) carburizing was carried out for 14.4 k. at 1303 k.in an atmosph.re of Ch.+h. gas mixtures under a pressure of 350 Pa. Th. plasma carburized layer of th. h.gh.nitrogen stainless steel was th.nner th.n th.t of an austentric stainless steel containing no nitrogen. Th.s suggested th.t th. nitrogen raised th. activity of carbon in th. plasma carburized layer, GDOES measurement indicated th.t th. nitrogen level in th. layer did not vary after plasma (ion) carburizing.

Optimization of Casting Process for h.at and Abrasion Resistant Large Gray Iron Castings

Numerical simulations were used to optimize th. casting design and conditions for large cast iron castings for marine engines, Simulations of th. mold filling and solidification sequences were used to analyze th. problems of previous casting conditions with.mark.d improvements for large cylinder liner parts, Th. amount and positions of ch.lls were optimized to improve th. mech.nical properties and to minimize th. sh.ink.ge and micro porosity in th. castings. Ultra sonic testing, penetration testing, and mech.nical property testing sh.w no defects in th. castings with.th. productivity significantly increased.

Effects of Alloying Elements on th. Microstructures and Mech.nical Properties of h.avy Section Ductile Cast Iron

Th. effects of alloying elements on th. as-cast microstructures and mech.nical properties of h.avy section ductile cast iron were investigated to develop press die material h.ving h.gh.strength.and h.gh.ductility. Measurements of ultimate tensile strength. 0.2% proof strength. elongation and unnotch.d Ch.rpy impact energy are presented as a function of alloy amounts with.n 0.25 to 0.75 wt pct range. h.rdness is measured on th. brok.n tensile specimens. Th. small additions of Mo, Cu, Ni and Cr ch.nged th. as-cast mech.nical properties owing to th. different as-cast matrix microstructures. Th. ferrite matrix of Mo and Ni alloyed cast iron exh.bits low strength.and h.rdness as well as h.gh.elongation and impact energy. Th. increase in Mo and Ni contents developed some fractions of pearlite structures near th. austenite eutectic cell boundaries, wh.ch.caused th. elongation and impact energy to drop in a small range. Adding Cu and Cr elements rapidly ch.nged th. ferrite matrix into pearlite matrix, so strength.and h.rdness were significantly increased. As more Mo and Cr were added, th. size and fraction of primary carbides in th. eutectic cell boundaries increased th.ough.th. segregation of th.se elements into th. intercellular boundaries.

During th. EPC (expendable pattern casting) process, one of th. essential requirements is to prevent pattern distortion duringsand filling and compaction. A new meth.d wh.ch.vibrates th. system in a two-dimensional circular mode h.s been appliedto th. EPC process. Th. molding properties of unbonded sand obtained by th.s new vibration mode are investigated andcompared with.th.se in th. one-dimensional vertical mode. For adequate compaction of sand. th. circular vibration mode ismore effective th.n th. vertical mode. Sand became more fluidized by th. circular vibration and th. particle pressure coefficientwas close to unity Th. particle pressure coefficient, wh.ch.is defined as th. ratio of h.rizontal to vertical sand pressure, isresponsible for th. effectiveness of sand filling.
