Distribution of Nuclei of Different Ploidy Levels during Ovule, Seed and Protocorm Development in <i>Phalaenopsis aphrodite</i>subsp. <i>formosana</i>(Orchidaceae)

Distribution of nuclei of different ploidy levels was studied at different developmental stages in the embryonic tissue of the ovule, seed and protocorm of Phalaenopsis aphrodite subsp. formosana (Miwa) E.A. Christ. by a combination of flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy with Apo Tome Slider. Three stages of ploidy patterns were identified in the ovular tissue at different days after pollination (DAP). Firstly, between pollination and fertilization (0 to 50 DAP), 2C nuclei were dominant over 4C nuclei and resulted in low level of cycle value. Secondly, between fertilization and seed maturation (50 to 110 DAP), amount of 4C nuclei increased rapidly, maintained at a high level and then decreased gradually to a low level. Small amount of 8C nuclei was also detected at this stage. Thirdly, at seed maturation (110 to 130 DAP), 2C nuclei became dominant over 4C nuclei again and the cycle value remained at a low but significant level at this stage. After seed sowing, nuclei with ploidy levels of 2C, 4C and 8C were observed in the developing protocorms as early as at 4 DAS (days after sowing). Nuclei with high ploidy levels (8C and 16C) increased gradually until 40 DAS in this study. Significant level of cycle value at this stage of protocorm development indicated the presence of endopolyploidy. 4,6-diamido-2-phenylindol (DAPI) staining showed large and prominent nuclei in the basal portions of the mature seeds before sowing and in the developing protocorms at 20 DAS. These findings clearly demonstrate the occurrence of different distribution patterns of nuclei with different ploidy levels during ovule, seed and protocorm de-velopment in Phalaenopsis aphrodite. These observations will provide fundamental information for further studies in Phalaenopsis orchids.

A supramolecular assembly composed of perylene diimide derivative(PDI-nm)and nor-secocucurbit[10]uril(ns-Q[10])was *** excellent host-guest interaction between PDI-nm and nsQ[10]prevented the aggregation-caused quenching(ACQ)effect of PDI-nm,resulting in a luminescent *** addition of spermine to the PDI-nm/ns-Q[10]assembly restored the ACQ of PDI-nm due to the competitive binding of spermine to ns-Q[10],which released *** assembly based on this principle showed ultra-high sensitivity for the detection of spermine with a detection limit as low as7.84×10^(-7)mol/L in aqueous solution and 3.69×10^(-7)mol/L in plasma ***,an artificial light-harvesting system based on this assembly was proposed,benefiting from its good luminescent *** red(Ni R)functioned as an acceptor loaded into assembly,and a highly efficient energy transfer process occurred from PDI-nm/ns-Q[10]to Ni R,with an efficiency up to 87%.

Dual Control of Macrolithotype and Coal Structure on the Pore Parameters of Middle Jurassic Coals in the Southern Junggar Basin,NW China

Coal pore parameters are closely related to macrolithotypes and coal structures,having a large influence over the gas potential and productivity of coalbed methane(CBM).The Middle Jurassic Xishanyao Formation,located in the southern Junggar Basin of northwestern China,has geological conditions with rich CBM *** 46 Xishanyao coal samples gathered from the drilling cores and coal mines cover 4 types of macrolithotypes(bright coal 1,semi-bright coal 2,semi-dull coal 3,and dull coal 4)and 2 types of coal structures(primary coal I and cataclastic coal II).Based on a range of pore testing experiments and analytical methods,the dual effects of different macrolithotypes and coal structures on pore structures were intensely *** results showed that the specific surface area(SSA)and total pore volume(TPV)of coal samples increased gradually from bright to dull *** the same macrolithotypes,the SSA and TPV of the primary coals were lower than those of the cataclastic ***,the pore structures of bright and semi-bright coals are simpler when compared to semi-dull and dull coals with the same coal structure,whereas cataclastic coals have more complicated pore structure systems than primary coals with the same *** bright and semi-bright coals have higher vitrinite contents and more endogenous fractures,whereas well-developed structural fractures were identified in cataclastic ***,bright and semi-bright coals have better pore connectivity than semi-dull and dull coals with the same coal structure,the pore connectivity of cataclastic coals being slightly better than that of primary coals under the same *** terms of the CBM adsorption conditions,the eight type samples formed a descending order:Ⅱ-4>I-4>Ⅱ-3>Ⅰ-3>Ⅱ-2>Ⅰ-2>Ⅱ-1>Ⅰ-1,while they ranked as follows when consideration was given to the CBM seepage capacities:II-2>Ⅱ-1>Ⅰ-2>Ⅰ-1>Ⅰ-3>Ⅰ-4>Ⅱ-3>Ⅱ-*** a result,it could be determined that the bright and semi-bright

Thermoelectric Modulation of Neat Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) MXenes by Finely Regulating the Stacking of Nanosheets

Emerging two-dimensional MXenes have been extensively studied in a wide range of fields thanks to their superior electrical and hydrophilic attributes as well as excellent chemical stability and mechanical *** them,the ultrahigh electrical conductivity(σ)and tunable band structures of benchmark Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) MXene demonstrate its good potential as thermoelectric(TE)***,both the large variation ofσreported in the literature and the intrinsically low Seebeck coefficient(S)hinder the practical ***,this study has for the first time systematically investigated the TE properties of neat Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) films,which are finely modulated by exploiting different dispersing solvents,controlling nanosheet sizes and constructing ***,deionized water is found to be superior for obtaining closely packed MXene sheets relative to other polar ***,a simultaneous increase in both S andσis realized via elevating centrifugal speed on MXene aqueous suspensions to obtain small-sized nanosheets,thus yielding an ultrahigh power factor up to~156μW m^(-1) K^(-2).Third,S is significantly enhanced yet accompanied by a reduction inσwhen constructing MXene-based nanocomposites,the latter of which is originated from the damage to the intimate stackings of MXene ***,a correlation between the TE properties of neat Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) films and the stacking of nanosheets is elucidated,which would stimulate further exploration of MXene TEs.

On the existence of solutions for prescribing fractional Q-curvature problem on S~n

The aim of this paper is to investigate the existence of solutions to the prescribing fractional Q-curvature problem on S~n under some reasonable assumption of the Laplacian sign at the critical point of prescribing curvature function K. Due to the lack of compactness, we choose to return to the basic elements of variational theory and study the deformation along the flow lines. The novelty of the paper is that we obtain the existence without assuming any symmetry and periodicity on K. In addition,to overcome the loss of compactness for high-order operator problem, we need more delicate estimates with the second order cases.

Comparisons of{100}texture improvement and formability in hot-rolled non-oriented electrical steel by austenite-ferrite phase transformation and shear deformation

Over the years,the high magnetic induction of industrial Mn-added electrical steel is assumed to be the enhancement of{100}texture derived from its austenite-ferrite phase transformation during hot rolling(phase transformation(PT)method).However,it is still undetermined without straightforward experimental *** reason for{100}texture improvement of Mn-added electrical steel is experimentally confirmed due to the recrystallization induced by the austenite-ferrite phase transformation during hot ***,a more promising methodology to further improve{100}texture and formability of hot-rolled electrical steel is promoted by the control of hot rolling deformation condition(shear deformation(SD)method).The results show that the nucleation mechanisms of{100}oriented recrystallized grains are different in the samples by SD and PT methods,which are in-depth shear deformation and austenite-ferrite phase transformation,*** this case,coarse{100}oriented recrystallized grains and low residual stress are obtained in the sample by SD method,which is responsible for its superior{100}texture and *** contrast,the sample by PT method forms fine recrystallized grains with random orientations and accumulates severe residual stress.

Aqueous zinc-halogen batteries are promising candidates for large-scale energy storage due to their abundant resources,intrinsic safety,and high theoretical ***,the uncontrollable zinc dendrite growth and spontaneous shuttle effect of active species have prohibited their practical ***,a double-layered protective film based on zinc-ethylenediamine tetramethylene phosphonic acid(ZEA)artificial film and ZnF2-rich solid electrolyte interphase(SEI)layer has been successfully fabricated on the zinc metal anode via electrode/electrolyte synergistic *** ZEA-based artificial film shows strong affinity for the ZnF2-rich SEI layer,therefore effectively suppressing the SEI breakage and facilitating the construction of double-layered protective film on the zinc metal *** double-layered architecture not only modulates Zn2+flux and suppresses the zinc dendrite growth,but also blocks the direct contact between the metal anode and electrolyte,thus mitigating the corrosion from the active *** employing optimized metal anodes and electrolytes,the as-developed zinc-(dual)halogen batteries present high areal capacity and satisfactory cycling *** work provides a new avenue for developing aqueous zinc-(dual)halogen batteries.

Designing and fabricating a compatible low-reflectivity electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding/high-temperature resistant infrared stealth material possesses a critical significance in the field of ***,a hierarchical polyimide(PI)nonwoven fabric is fabricated by alkali treatment,in-situ growth of magnetic particles and"self-activated"electroless Ag plating ***,the hierarchical impedance matching can be constructed by systematically assembling Fe_(3)O_(4)/Ag-loaded PI nonwoven fabric(PFA)and pure Ag-coated PI nonwoven fabric(PA),endowing it with an ultralowreflectivity EMI shielding *** addition,thermal insulation of fluffy three-dimensional(3D)space structure in PFA and low infrared emissivity of PA originated from Ag plating bring an excellent infrared stealth *** importantly,the strong bonding interaction between Fe_(3)O_(4),Ag,and PI fiber improves thermal stability in EMI shielding and high-temperature resistant infrared stealth *** excellent comprehensive performance makes it promising for military tents to protect internal equipment from electromagnetic interference stemmed from adjacent equipment and/or enemy,and inhibit external infrared detection.
