Dendroctonus valens LeConte, an invasive forestry pest, is highly dependent on its olfactory system for vector-related activities such as host seeking, oviposition and population aggregation. The antennae are the primary olfactory organs in bark beetles. We describe 4 morphological types of sensilla on the antenna of D. valens: 1) 3 types of sensilla trichodea located at the apex and lateral surface of the club and innervated by 5, 0, 13 dendrites, respectively. 2) sensilla chaetica found on the the scape and funicle and innervated by 7 dendrites. 3) a pair of sensilla basiconica distributed almost on the three sensory bands innervated by 2 dendrites at the base, and 4) one flunted cone type of grooved peg dispersed throughout the sensory bands, but its ultrastructure was not investigated. The possible functions of these sensilla were discussed in relation to their morphology and the ultrastructure of four types of antennal sensilla.

A study was conducted to explore the mechanism that emissions of volatile organic compounds（VOC） from heated needles and twigs（200°C,within 15 min） of Pinus pumila affect fire behaviours using the technology of Thermal Desorption-Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry（TD-GC-MS）.The results indicated that the main components of VOC from heated needles and twigs are *** of these terpenoids are *** account for 72.93% for the needles and 92.40% for the twigs of the total VOC,and their emission ratios are 61.200 μg·g-1 and 217.060 μg·g-1 *** twigs can emit more terpenoids than heated needles because twigs had more volatile oils than *** actual fires,these large amounts of terpenoid emissions,especially the monoterpene emissions,have strong effects on fire behaviors that are not only in the initial stage but also in the fast propagation stage of *** flammable gases are capable of causing violent combustion and creating crown *** addition,if these gases accumulate in an uneven geographical area,there will be a possible for eruptive fires and/or fires flashover to occur.

Evaluation of forest ecosystem services is a hot topic,both in China and at abroad,but it has not yet obtained a consistency of evaluation indicator systems and evaluation *** the framework of evaluation criteria to be implemented for forest ecosystem services,years of consecutive observation data from Long Term Ecological Research Stations affiliated to chinese forest Ecosystem Research Network(CFERN),forest resource inventory and public data were applied to carry out a detailed and dynamic evaluation on the physical quantity and value of ecosystem services of chinese pine forests in *** results showed that the above services had the total value and unit value of 1144.9640 billion(1.1449640×10 12 )RMB and 52.074 thousand RMB per hectare per year,respectively during the 9th Five-year Plan(1996―2000),and of 1190.5461 billion RMB and 52.101 thousand RMB per hectare per year,respectively,during the 10th Five-year Plan(2001―2005).For chinese pine forests,water conservation was 40.40 hundred million cubic meters annually,soil conservation was 67 million tons and C fixation 9 million tons annually,production of healthful negative ions was 1.96×10 20 , absorption of SO2 was 5.02 hundred million kilograms and dust-catching was 759.10 hundred million kilograms. Among the 15 provinces of China with chinese pine forests,the biggest beneficiary from ecosystem services was Liaoning Province;while Hunan Province was the smallest beneficiary between the 9th Five-year Plan.

The snow leopard （Uncia uncia） is a member of the Felidae subfamily Pantherinae and on the basis of morphology and behavior it is placed alone in a separate *** leopards are classified as Endangered in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species since 1988 and have been included in Appendix I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Fauna and Flora （CITES） since *** leopard was found in 12 countries across Central Asia and China contains as much as 60% of the snow leopard's potential habitat with a population of 2,000-2,500 *** habitat was computed at as much as 1,824,316 km in China,making China,potentially at least,the single most important country with as much as 60% of all snew leopard ***,little has been known about this species in China,such as the hot spot,population size,population trends and Factors involved,snow leopard-prey relationships,*** leopard was classified as the Class （?） state-protected wildlife in China and occurred in six provinces or autonomous regions （Qinghai,Gansu, Sichuan,Yunnan,Xinjiang and Tibet）.We extensive consulted with stakeholders and identified some primary threats to long-term snow survival across their range in China,including the poaching snow leopards for trades in hides or bones,habitat degradation and fragmentation,reduction of natural prey due to competition with livestock,killing of snow leopards in retribution for livestock depredation,lack oF effective enforcement and human population growth or poverty,To protect this endangered species,some actions must be taken in China:（1） Special laws and policies For poaching of snow leopard,and their prey and their habitat arc enforced effective management;（2） Promote the establishment on nature reserve and livestock grazing practices that reduce impacts on snow leopard and its prey species in conservation area and encourage livestock husbandry practices that reduce depredation by snow leopards and other predator;（

In recent years, many serious forest fires occurred in precious Pinus pumila forests in Daxing'anling Mountains of Heilongjiang Province and Inner Mongolia. But up to now, there is still a lack of proper understanding of fire occurrence environments in P. pumila forests. In present paper, we investigated and studied the fire occurrence environments. The results showed that fires in P. pumila forests had their own special fire environments. Abundant fuel, drought weather, dry thunder and high altitude terrain created the special fire occurrence environments in P. pumila forests in Daxing'anling

Isolates of Pythium and Phytophthora species were obtained from rhododendron leaves baits during 2005～2006 in a preliminary stream-baiting survey in the forests of Yunnan and Sichuan Province,Southwest *** DNA from purified cultures and the Phytophthora genus-specific primers(Yph1F and Yph2R),14 isolates were *** using the ITS4 and ITS6 primer pairs about 600～660bp fragment of the internal transcribed spacer regions and 5.8S gene of rDNA was amplified and sequenced from these *** analysis by BLASTn query showed that all 14 sequences shared high similarity of 96%～99%with other Phytophthora *** Pythium *** GenBank.A phylogenetic tree was constructed for these species based on the ITS sequences using the Neighbor Joining method by MEGA4.0 *** this phylogenetic tree with other reported Phytophthora and Pythium species,10 isolates were associated with Phytophthora ITS in Clade 2,6 and 8;the other 4 were associated with *** species analysis based on molecular and comparative morphological as well as pathogenicity studies is underway.

In China, Pinus pumila is mainly distributed in Daxing’anling, while those growing in the eastern Daxing’anling are primarily covered under the jurisdiction of Huzhong forest Bureau. P. pumila is an evergreen shrub, 3-6 m high, and always grows vigorously. Its trunks creep along the ground, usually 10 m long or more. It is easily flammable because of the large amounts of resins and volatile oils in its body. Attacking forest fires is a dangerous work, especially in P. pumila scrubs. The fires in P. pumila scrubs are very different from those in other forest types, e.g. fierce combustion and heavy smoke. In this paper, the distribution characteristics of P. pumila scrubs were presented. Attacking techniques and safety precautions for attacking fires in P. pumila scrubs were also discussed.

对江西大岗山林区常绿阔叶林、毛竹林和杉木林枯落物的水文性能进行研究,结果表明:(1)常绿阔叶林、毛竹林和杉木人工林枯落物现存量分别为474.18,516.92和598.30 t/km2。(2)三者枯落物的持水量分别为吸水后10 h,20 h和20 h达到饱和稳定状态。(3)常绿阔叶林、毛竹林和杉木人工林枯落物的吸水速率均在0-6 h急剧减小。毛竹林枯落物的吸水速率随时间变化最为剧烈,而常绿阔叶林则较为平缓。(4)毛竹林枯落物对降水的有效拦蓄能力最强,水文生态效应显著。
