Although glycogen synthase kinase-3(GSK-3)might act as a tumor suppressor since its inhibition is expected tomimic the activation of Wnt-signaling pathway,GSK-3β may contribute to NF-κ3 activation in cancer cells leading toincreased cancer cell proliferation and *** we report that GSK-3β activity was involved in the proliferationof human ovarian cancer cell both in vitro and in *** of GSK-3 activity by pharmacological inhibitors sup-pressed proliferation of the ovarian cancer *** constitutively active form of GSK-3β induced entryinto the S phase,increased cyclin D1 expression and facilitated the proliferation of ovarian cancer ***,GSK-3 inhibition prevented the formation of the tumor in nude mice generated by the inoculation of human ovariancancer *** findings thus suggest that GSK-3β activity is important for the proliferation of ovarian cancer cells,implicating this kinase as a potential therapeutic target in ovarian cancer.

Aim:To investigate the apoptosis-inducing effect of oridonin,a diterpenoid iso-lated from Rabdosia rubescens,in the human cervical carcinoma HeLa cell ***:A morphological analysis,nuclear condensation,and fragmentation ofchromatin were monitored using Hoechst 33342 *** viability was as-sessed using the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-(2)-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide(MTT) *** apoptosis and the apoptosis-related activation in the HeLa cellline were evaluated by flow cytometry and Western ***:Oridoninsuppressed the proliferation of the HeLa cell line in a dose-and *** treatment downregulated the activation of protein kinase B(Akt),the expression of forkhead box class O (FOXO) transcription factor,andglycogen synthase kinase 3 (GSK3).Oridonin also induced the release of cyto-chrome c accompanied by the activation of caspase-3 and poly-adenosine diphos-phate-ribose polymerase *** addition,Z-D(OMe)-E(OMe)-V-D(OMe)-FMK (z-DEVD-fmk),an inhibitor of caspases,prevented caspase-3 activation andabrogated oridonin-induced cell ***,oridonin treatment of the HeLa cellline downregulated the expression of the inhibitor of the apoptosis ***:Our results showed that oridonin-induced apoptosis involved sev-eral molecular *** may suppress constitutively activated targetsof phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (Akt,FOXO,and GSK3) in the HeLa cell line,inhibiting the proliferation and induction of caspase-dependent apoptosis.

Zinc and copper intakes and serum concentrations were determined at the 32th and 36th week of pregnancy in 96 healthy Thai women attending a prenatal clinic. Dietary data from 3-day food records revealed that the mean dietary zinc and copper intakes in Thai pregnant women were 6. 9 and 1. 7mg/d (equivalent to 34 and 69% of Thai RDA), respectively. Fifty-five percent of zinc intake was from animal origin, whereas 59% of copper intake was from plant *** infants of the 64 women who were in the study until delivery, were all *** (>96%) of the maternal serum zinc and copper concentrations were within normal ranges. Only one woman at 32th week had low serum zinc level (<6. 4μmol/L). There were no significant correlations between the maternal serum zinc or copper levels and pregnancy outcome (birth weight and birth length). In this study, although the zinc and copper intake in most Thai pregnant women (99 and 58%, respectively) were less than two-thirds of the Thai RDAs, they were not at risk of suffering from zinc and copper deficiencies as determined by serum zine and copper concentrations, abnormal parturition and abnormal pregnancy outcome.

盆底功能障碍(pelvic floor dysfunction,PFD)主要由于盆底肌(pelvic floor muscle,PFM)、筋膜和韧带的退化、损伤导致盆底支持功能减弱,从而引起盆腔器官移位,并伴有不同程度的器官功能障碍,主要包括有盆腔器官脱垂(POP)、下尿路症状、肛肠功能异常和性功能障碍。妊娠是PFD的独立危险因素[1],为降低PFD的整体发病率、将PFD预防窗口前移,在妊娠期积极采取干预措施是有必要的。

AIM: To investigate the association of the cyclooxygenases-2 (COX-2) polymorphisms and susceptibility to gastric cancer (GC) by means of meta-analysis. METHODS: Publications addressing the association between polymorphisms of COX-2 and susceptibility to GC were selected from the MEDLINE, EMBASE and CBMdisc databases. Data was extracted from the studies by 2 independent reviewers. The meta-analyses were performed by RevMan 5.0.23. From these data, odds ratio (OR) with 95% confidence interval (CI) was ***: Ten studies were retrieved reporting a total of 11 COX-2 polymorphisms. Carriers of -765C, -1195A, -1290G, *2430T alleles and *429TT genotype revealed increased risk for GC (OR = 1.71, 95% CI: 1.01-2.90, P = 0.05; OR = 1.58, 95% CI: 1.05-2.38, P = 0.03; OR = 1.55, 95% CI: 1.01-2.39, P = 0.05; OR = 2.62, 95% CI: 1.20-5.73, P = 0.02 and OR = 0.74, 95% CI: 0.59-0.95, P = 0.02, respectively). CONCLUSION: The -765C, -1195A, -1290G, *2430T alleles and *429TT genotype of COX-2 polymorphisms were determined a significant association with susceptibility to GC.

Osteoporosis is a condition characterized by low bone mineral density （BMD） and micro-architectural changes in the bone *** risk of osteoporosis is partly determined by genetic *** role of C677T polymorphism of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase （MTHFR） gene has been investigated in postmenopausal ***,the relationship between MTHFR polymorphism and BMD is still *** carried out a meta-analysis of 5,833 subjects to evaluate the association of MTHFR and BMD in postmenopausal *** of MEDLINE,Web of Science,Scopus and CNKI were retrieved for all publications relating to MTHFR polymorphism and BMD in postmenopausal *** eligible studies were selected for *** these articles studied the association of MTHFR polymorphism and BMD of the femoral neck and lumbar spine in postmenopausal *** analysis suggested that postmenopausal women with the TT genotype had lower femoral neck BMD than the women with the CC/CT genotype,and the weighted mean difference （WMD） was-0.01 g/cm 2 [95% confidence interval （CI）：（-0.01,-0.01）,P 0.01].However,BMD of the lumbar spine of postmenopausal women with the TT genotype was not significantly different from that of women with the CC/CT *** the random effects model,the WMD between the TT and TC/CC genotype was-0.01 g/cm 2 [95% CI：（-0.04,0.01）,P=0.32].The C677T polymorphism of the MTHFR gene is associated with BMD of the femoral neck in postmenopausal *** with the TT genotype of the MTHFR gene have lower BMD,suggesting that the TT genotype may be a risk factor for postmenopausal osteoporosis.
