Fluids and noble gases of mantle-derived materials are important tracers forthe mantle information. Compositions of primary fluids and noble gases in mantle-derived mineralsfrom the Yishu area, Shandong Province, china, were tested by the methods of heat-bursting andheat-melting respectively. The fluids are mainly composed of CO_2. CO and H_2. which account forabout 90% of the total, and are similar to the mantle-derived rocks from other areas of easternchina; ratios of ~3He/~4He in almost all samples range from 0.82.Ra to 2.74 Ra, whereas^(40)Ar/^(36)Ar from 2.9.5 to 758.8. Both ranges are much lower than those of the typical oceanmantle-derived samples (such as MORB) and primarily reflect the influences of the atmosphericcomponents and the radiogenic isotopes. Ratios of C/~3He range from 2..6 x 10~9 to 1050 x 10~9,N_2.Ar from 92. to 56612. and N_2.~3He from 2.5 x 10~9 to 2. x 10~9, similar to those in westernUnited States and New Zealand which belong to the tectonic plate collision regions. The ratios fallin the intersect of mantle-crust-atmosphere in the comprehensive tracer-charts, reflecting theinfluences of the atmosphere and the crusts with organic components. Our results suggest that thecomposition of the primary fluids and the isotopic ratios of the noble gases may either reflect theevolution process of mantle-derived rocks connected with the rise and eruption of magma, or theinfluence of the ancient subduction-plate on the continental mantle of this region.

A new analytical potential energy function for diatomic molecular ion XY+ is proposed based on the energy consistent method (ECM). The Coulomb potential included in the new ionic potential contains multipole corrections, converges quickly and is variationally, changeable. The new potential and the ECM are applied to variationally studying the potential energies of eight electronic states of several diatomic molecular ions: the A2. state of CO+, the X2. g + state of Li 2.+ , the X2. g + state of He 2.+ , the 12.u state of Na 2.+ , the A2.u state of N 2.+ , the X1∑+ state of KrH+, the X2.+ state of SiO+ and the A2. state of SO+ ion. The present results agree excellently with the experiment-based Rydberg-Klein-Rees (RKR) potentials, and are superior to the commonly used Huxley-Murrell-Sorbie (HMS) analytical potentials, and are better in some cases than some quantum mechanicalab initio potentials in the ionic asymptotic and dissociation regions.

Influence of valence electron structures of phase and biphase interfaces of sulfides on hot brittleness in steel

This paper calculates the electron structures of phase of FeS, MnS and their biphase interface electron structures with austenite in steel. The precipitation and the transformation of FeS and MnS are investigated through studying the valence electron pair numbers on the strongest bond n A with the structure formation factor S. The continuity of electron density and its relation with stress are explored in the biphase interfaces with the electron density difference απ Using n A, S, απ we explain the reason why FeS can bring about hot brittleness in steel and the physical mechanism why MnS may eliminate or inhibit hot brittleness, based on which satisfying results are obtained by calculating several rare-earth sulfides.

A Mechanical Model for Three-phase Permanent Deformation of Asphalt Mixture under Repeated Load

On basis of the Burgers model, a new model consisting of modified dashpot and Van Der Poel model was derived from rheological and viscoelastic theory. Subsequently, triaxial repeated load permanent deformation tests of AC16 asphalt mixtures were conducted to validate this new developed model. Parameters of new developed model were obtained by a nonlinear regression analysis of test data, and then permanent strains and flow number of each mixture were calculated. The experimental results prove that the new developed model can well describe three phases permanent deformation of asphalt mixture under repeated load and it can be used for pavement mechanical analysis and rutting prediction.

Application of vertically integrated sampling approach to study of new production via ^(2.4)Th -^(2.8)U disequilibria

The spatial and temporal distributions of new production vary largely in different sea areas. To understand the level of new production in the sea area studied better, an estimate of new production must be obtained in large spatial and temporal scales. The ~2.4Th/ ~2.8U disequilibrium is an effective method for the study of new production. Two sampling strategies, vertically integrated sampling ap proach based on trapezoidal integration principle and discrete layer sampling approach, were compared in the studies of the xiamen Bay and the northern South china Sea. The scavenging fluxes and removal fluxes of ~2.4Th and the residence times for dissolved and particulate ~2.4Th were calculated. The coinci dent results from two Sampling approach suggest that vertically integrated sampling approach is not only effective and reliable, but also significantly reduces the number and volume of samples. It allows us to study new production by ba ^(2.4)Th - ^(2.8)U disequilibria in large spatial scale.

Indoor imitation experimental study on driving factors of rainfall-runoff process

The driving actions of rainfall-runoff process can be attributed to two aspects. The first is the influence of precipitation process, and the second is that of the ground pad. The re- search results of 179 indoor experiments conducted to imitate rainfall-runoff process indicate that both precipitation duration and intensity play important roles in affecting confluence lag time, which is obviously inconsistent with the traditional hypotheses. The nonlinear relationship is of great significance to the confluence curve especially when the precipitation duration is less than the total confluence time or the precipitation intensity is small. Therefore it can be concluded that the unit hydrograph (UH) can be applied to rainfall-runoff process imitation in the humid areas in the south china region. However, the UH application should be strictly modified in accordance with precipitation conditions in the arid and semiarid region of north china where the precipitation duration is short and the intensity is unstable. It will be hard to get ideal imitation results if the UH is applied blindly without considering specific conditions in the north china region. This also explains the unsatisfactory imitation results caused by using various hydrological models in the north china region. When the precipitation duration is short, and the watershed has not reached total watershed concentration, the characteristics of confluence change greatly, which reflects the actual situation in the north china region. Therefore necessary nonlinear corrections should be made when UH is applied. If the duration is longer than the total confluence time and the balance between pondage and discharge is stricken, the imitation research results will be applicable to both rainfall-runoff relation with longer duration in the south china region and the basic theoreti- cal research on runoff generation and concentration. Copper-zinc heterometallic 1D chain coordination polymer has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, and IR spectra etc. The crystal structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. The title complex is 1D chain coordination polymer with the chemical formula {[CuLZn·CuLZn(H2.)]·H2.}n, where H4L=N-(2.hydroxybenzamido)-N’-(3-carboxy- lsalicylidene)ethylenediamine. Its structural unit is comprosed of two tetranuclear cycles formed by two dissymmetrical tetranuclear units. These units polymerized each other to form 1D chain coordi- nation polymer.

Utilization of a spiropyran derivative in a polymeric film optode for selective fluorescent sensing of zinc ion

A new spiropyran derivative was synthesized and first utilized in a polymericfilm-based optical sensor for zinc ion. Spiropyrans, combining the characteristics of metal bindingand signal transduction, show potential function in the design of optical chemical sensors(optodes) toward metal ions. When embedded in a plasticized poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC) membrane,the newly synthesized spiropyran derivative 1 exhibits obvious fluorescence enhancement at 630 nm inthe presence of zinc ion in aqueous solution. With the optimum condition described, the optodemembrane responds to zinc ion over a dynamic range of 4.94x10^(-7) to 4.15x10^(-4)mol·L^(-1), witha detection limit of 1.51x10^(-7) mol·L^(-1). The membrane not only displays excellentphotostability, reproducibility and reversibility, but also exhibits high selectivity toward zincion over transition metal ions including Hg^(2.), Cd^(2.), Pb^(2.), Cu^(2.), Fe^(3+) and commoncationic ions presented in the physiological fluids.
