Estimation Performance for the Cubature Particle Filter under Nonlinear/Non-Gaussian Environments

This paper evaluates the state estimation performance for processing nonlinear/non-Gaussian systems using the cubature particle lter(CPF),which is an estimation algorithm that combines the cubature Kalman lter(CKF)and the particle lter(PF).The CPF is essentially a realization of PF where the third-degree cubature rule based on numerical integration method is adopted to approximate the proposal *** is benecial where the CKF is used to generate the importance density function in the PF framework for effectively resolving the nonlinear/non-Gaussian *** on the spherical-radial transformation to generate an even number of equally weighted cubature points,the CKF uses cubature points with the same weights through the spherical-radial integration rule and employs an analytical probability density function(pdf)to capture the mean and covariance of the posterior distribution using the total probability theorem and subsequently uses the measurement to update with Bayes’*** is capable of acquiring a maximum a posteriori probability estimate of the nonlinear system,and thus the importance density function can be used to approximate the true posterior density *** Bayesian ltering,the nonlinear lter performs well when all conditional densities are assumed *** applied to the nonlinear/non-Gaussian distribution systems,the CPF algorithm can remarkably improve the estimation accuracy as compared to the other particle lterbased approaches,such as the extended particle lter(EPF),and unscented particle lter(UPF),and also the Kalman lter(KF)-type approaches,such as the extended Kalman lter(EKF),unscented Kalman lter(UKF)and *** illustrative examples are presented showing that the CPF achieves better performance as compared to the other approaches.

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is a common form of cancer,and it ranked sixth for cancer incidence and fourth for cancer deaths globally in 2015(1).HCC treatment strategies include resection,transplantation,ablation,local therapy,systemic therapy,and palliative care depending on the stage,where metastasis indicating poor prognosis(2).Rare HCC metastases such as those in the oral cavity indicate aggressive malignancy and even poorer outcome,and it may be the initial manifestation of HCC(2).

Motivations for Loan Herding by Chinese Banks and Its Impact on Bank Performance

This study uses a dynamic herding model that considers intertemporal and crosssectional correlation to confirm that loan herding occurs among joint-stock commercial banks (JSCBs) and city commercial banks (CCBs). We clarify the motivations for bank loan herding. We find that loan herding by both JSCBs and CCBs results more from following the behavior of other same-type banks than different-type banks because of characteristic herding or reputational concerns. Loan herding by JSCBs is motivated by investigative herding, whereas loan herding by CCBs results from informational cascades. Moreover, loan herding has a significantly harmful impact on the operating performance of CCBs but not JSCBs, which may be explained by the irrational behavior of CCBs. Our results will help Chinese bank supervisors develop appropriate policies for handling loan herding.

The performance of solidly mounted resonator(SMR) depends on the thickness control of each *** thickness variation is inevitable in film deposition,the resonant frequency will shift from the desired value. In order to calculate the required electrode thickness for a given resonant frequency,an SMR is treated as a combination of two substructures,the top electrode and the remaining *** substructure synthesis method is employed to calculate the required thickness of *** Carlo simulation is adopted to investigate tunableness of resonant frequency with random thickness deviation in every *** SMR with a 6-period-reflector and 2.4GHz series resonant frequency is chosen for the *** material of piezoelectric layer is aluminum nitride and the reflector is composed of tungsten and aluminum *** top electrode is a half-wavelength Al film and the SMR is mounted on a silicon substrate of 525μm in *** Carlo simulation shows that the 3σof electrode trimming value is 0.03μm when the layer thickness deviation with 3c value equals to 1%of the mean thickness.

Can rifaximin for hepatic encephalopathy be discontinued during broad-spectrum antibiotic treatment?

Hepatic encephalopathy(HE)is a formidable complication in patients with decompensated cirrhosis,often necessitating the administration of rifaximin(RFX)for effective ***,is a gut-restricted,poorly-absorbable oral rifamycin derived antibiotic that can be used in addition to lactulose for the secondary prophylaxis of *** has shown notable reductions in infection,hospital readmission,duration of hospital stay,and ***,limited data exist about the concurrent use of RFX with broad-spectrum antibiotics,because the patients are typically excluded from studies assessing RFX efficacy in HE.A pharmacist-driven quasi-experimental pilot study was done to address this *** argue against the necessity of RFX in HE during broad-spectrum antibiotic treatment,particularly in critically ill patients in intensive care unit(ICU).The potential for safe RFX discontinuation without adverse effects is clearly illuminated and valuable insight into the optimization of therapeutic strategies is *** findings also indicate that RFX discontinuation during broadspectrum antibiotic therapy was not associated with higher rates of delirium or coma,and this result remained robust after adjustment in multivariate ***,rates of other secondary clinical and safety outcomes,including ICU mortality and 48-hour changes in vasopressor requirements,were ***,since the activity of RFX is mainly confined to the modulation of gut microbiota,its potential utility in patients undergoing extensive systemic antibiotic therapy is debatable,given the overlapping antibiotic ***,this suggests that the action of RFX on HE is class-specific(related to its activity on gut microbiota),rather than drug-specific.A recent double-blind randomized controlled(ARiE)trial provided further evidence-based support for RFX withdrawal in critically ill cirrhotic ICU patients receiving broad-spectrum *** studies prompt further discussion about

Population-based carrier screening and prenatal diagnosis of fragile X syndrome in East Asian populations

Identification of carriers of fragile X syndrome(FXS) with the subsequent prenatal diagnosis and knowledge of FXS-associated genetic profiles are essential for intervention in specific populations. We report the results of carrier screening of 39,458 East Asian adult women and prenatal diagnosis from 87 FXS *** prevalence of FXS carriers and full mutation fetuses was estimated to be 1/581 and 1/3124 in East Asian populations, respectively. We confirmed the validity of the current threshold of CGG trinucleotide repeats for FMR1 categorization;the integral risks of full mutation expansion were approximately 6.0%,43.8%, and 100% for premutation alleles with 55—74, 75—89, and ≥ 90 CGG repeats, respectively. The protective effect of AGG(adenine-guanine-guanine nucleotides) interruption in East Asian populations was validated, which is important in protecting premutation alleles with 75—89 CGG repeats from full mutation expansion. Finally, family history was shown not an effective indicator for FXS carrier screening in East Asian populations, and population-based screening was more cost-effective. This study provides an insight into the largest carrier screening and prenatal diagnosis for FXS in East Asian populations to date. The FXSassociated genetic profiles of East Asian populations are delineated, and population-based carrier screening is shown to be promising for FXS intervention.

Two-dimensional(2D)heterostructures based on the combination of transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs)and transition metal oxides(TMOs)have aroused growing attention due to their integrated merits of both components and multiple ***,nondestructive approaches of constructing TMD-TMO heterostructures are still very ***,we develop a novel type of lateral TMD-TMO heterostructure(NbS2-Nb2O5-NbS2)using a simple lithography-free,direct laser-patterning *** perfect contact of an ultrathin TMO channel(Nb2O5)with two metallic TMDs(NbS2)electrodes guarantee strong electrical signals in a two-terminal *** from sensing mechanisms in separate TMOs or TMDs,this sensor works based on the modulation of surface conduction of the ultrathin TMO(Nb2O5)channel through an adsorbed layer of water *** sensor thus exhibits high selectivity and ultrahigh sensitivity for room-temperature detection of NH3(ΔR/R=80%at 50 ppm),superior to the reported NH3 sensors based on 2D materials,and a positive temperature coefficient of resistance as high as 15%–20%/℃.Bending-invariant performance and high reliability are also demonstrated in flexible versions of *** work provides a new strategy of lithography-free processing of novel TMD-TMO heterostructures towards high-performance sensors,showing great potential in the applications of future portable and wearable electronics.

Cambial Variants Combine Successive Cambia and Intraxylary Phloem in Convolvulaceae in Taiwan

Secondary stem growth develops different cambial variants in Convolvulaceae. Here, the cambial variant features of 17 species in seven genera (Convolvulaceae) in Taiwan are presented. The xylem rings produce various successive cambial types and the primary xylem and intraxylary phloem are produced in the outer and inner pith, respectively. The two Argyreia species have round or elliptical stems with continuous secondary xylem and phloem rings. In the eight Ipomoea species, secondary growth has two to four layers of successive cambia and xylem, dispersed with parenchyma tissue, except for I. nil and I. violacea with one layer of successive cambia. The first secondary xylem segments are separated by few or many xylem rays: I. cairica and I. obscura have three to five xylem rays and I. triloba has numerous xylem rays. The first secondary xylem of Erycibe henryi is divided by numerous rays in small stems, but develops more layers, as adjacent segments separated by xylem rays, in larger stems. Owing to continuous vascular bundle division, it has a dissected xylem. The secondary growth of Distimate tuberosa and Operculina turpethum produces two layers of successive cambia;the secondary successive cambium is divided evenly by rays into many arcs/segments. The stem thickness of I. pes-caprae subsp. brasiliensis increases via concentric successive cambia. Owing to shallowly lobed stems with directional successive cambia, I. obscura and I. triloba stems are irregularly shaped. I. littoralis and Stictocardia tilifolia stems are triangular without directional successive cambia. I. hederifolia and Merremia gemella stems have two to three deep lobes. Parenchyma proliferation results in thicker cortex with mucilaginous canals. The xylem vessels are dispersed and diffuse-porous;the vasicentric paratracheal parenchyma around them is common to all species.
